Interestingly, commentators/pundits at the time were beginning to express their annoyance at how long the scrum was taking! In the 70's right up until the early 90's the scrum was as quick as the Rugby league scrum is today.
You can focus on how Wilkinson kicked infinitely better than Michalak that day and that was clearly a factor in the result. But England just so much fitter, meaner and more up for it than the French, especially in the second half. They played a brutal territory and possession game that no-one had an answer to in this era
A lot of sides were wary of giving penalties away in their own half - due to Wilkinson's accuracy. Teams also didn't know whether to go in hard because England could just as easily give Wilkinson (who would be standing in the pocket) and go for a drop goal!
So strange how all the high shots and tip tackles are deemed ok but the hit on wilkinson was deemed late. it's a completely different game but hugely entertaining
I remember the national anthems here being unbelievable. I’m English but the end of La Marseilles here had the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end.
La Marseillaise is the most beautiful freedom (that turned into a tyranny) song of all time and forever. You godda understand the lyrics to get the proper dimension of it. It's not just as basic as God save the king (no offense to british people) and even tho I discovered there are more verse to god save the king before writing this comment. La Marseillaise is just more emotionnal and deep in my opinion, and not just because I'm french I think. Anyway, I remember that game, and we could do nothing against England. It was frustrating. But in a sense, it was good to see an european country to win the world cup. Hope it happens to France someday.
@Siegfried18 Don't bother with them. They can only see Dominici blindly reacting. They completely ignore the fact that Johnson purposefully grabbed Dominici by the throat (for no reason whatsoever) ...and was cynically squeezing his larynx in order to try to get Dominici to react!

Well to be fair, ageing doesn't necessarily mean deteriorating. A 36yo rugby player is definitely an ageing player, but he could be playing his best rugby still.
This latest England team could well emulate this illustrious Word Cup winning team come 2023. I'm not an Englishman, but credit where it's due. Come 2023, the English will be more mature, in body, and experience; a different 'animal', than the one that did so well for it's youthfulness in 2019, for me.
Scrums... they were always supposed to be a Restart!.. not taking ages! The game.. even in terrible conditions was so much faster and entertaining... WTF has happened to test rugby since then!!?
For 20 minutes this was a great game. After that it was just a procession! Poor old French team threw every dirty trick they knew at us and ended up crying into their snails and frogs legs! 😂
They need to show the score board
Enjoying watching full match replays of old RWC matches
a really beautiful rendition of the English National Anthem (and French for that matter) Showed real respect,
real respect but the execution is Awful , the two anthem look like christmas song
I remember thinking the anthems sounded kind of angelic at this World cup. This one however sounded a bit too Aussie for me (y'know.... a bit nasal).
Back when a scrum didn't take 5 mins 3 resets and was a exciting part of the game, fix them or lose them..sort it out ffs world rugby.
Interestingly, commentators/pundits at the time were beginning to express their annoyance at how long the scrum was taking! In the 70's right up until the early 90's the scrum was as quick as the Rugby league scrum is today.
Eng shud win the final, I think..

That trip by Dominici on Robinson was so funny. I laughed out loud
Rugby union is way more entertaining than American football, and I'm saying that as an American.
America is a continent, iam american but not from usa

They don’t call the French passionate for nothing

billy wiz, really enjoy these matches thank you
Primeiro jogo de rugby que assisti. Desde então, o rugby é o meu esporte. Obrigado ao Rugby.
No sé como hablar el portugués pero casi entendí perfectamente tu comentario
Dominici should be red carded for that eye gauge on Martin Johnson, shocking play from him
@Siegfried18
Good joke, you make me laugh !!

‘Aging English forwards’ - gotta laugh at that one considering how they beat everyone!
Well to be fair, ageing doesn't necessarily mean deteriorating. A 36yo rugby player is definitely an ageing player, but he could be playing his best rugby still.
It’s all about experience
It isn’t. If it were then these guys would still be playing. It’s the sweet spots between experience and ability.

What youthfulness? Tuilagi, Farrell, May? These guys are all veterans and best players on their team
Yes next world cup england will be ready more better than ever
@@santinotupou9127 bit ignorant.
That didn't age well
I watched the Match with my little brother and when Betsen made two big hits on Wilko
They really will post anything except any full Springbok matches :(. please?
Yep, there must be some full game recording of the 2019 final somewhere. Baffling lol.
Really I’m subbing
Michalak was so bad this day.
He was overrated
During scrums, why is there not the "crouch-bind-set"?
Sandcastle • your brain thanks this law
It wasn’t around in 2003 it’s just come in the 2010’s
The stadium looked 95% England fans 😂
So, when will the 2011 RWC version will be available ???
Rugby 0, Adverts 25 (Haven't actually counted, but it's got to be 25 at least)
Scrums... they were always supposed to be a Restart!.. not taking ages!

4:00 Beautiful
Why do the commentators keep getting Jason Robinson's name wrong?
Stephen Robertson to busy thinking about the next biased comment to get it right.
English supporters from all over the UK??? Obviously NOT from the UK!
12:30 take a look at that body 😂
Outrageous commentary isn't it lol! The body of one of the finest props to ever play the game. Let's not even talk about Oz's own Matt Dunning
@@jonnybaynham1689 that's true body positivity!
He likes a few pints with his fish and chips!
Again a French defeat.
Did you know France won some games ?
Nope... xD
@@leavemebeggl5502 oh All Blacks and English players know it well
6 nations 2020 :)
Your name is so French man ahahhahahah
@Sandcastle • the French too (but only in the U20 category for now) ^^
La Faucheuse!!
Harin-a- doorkey
Come on final 2003
Dominici is dirty. Robinson had him beaten all ends up.
the 2007 world cup match is better!!
Finding Nemo year 1:10
Pas ce match non !!!
XV France this night
Got fed up watching to many adds
Bonkers, isn’t it? Totally unwatchable. Half of them don’t even play correctly as well, so no idea what they’re selling.
Who are these kiwi commentators? Clowns!

worst refereeing ever man..
Jesus this is terrible - no comparison to today's game

Michalak was awful in this game.
Boring.
No score.
WORLD RUGBY DVC...At least upload old HD games of 2003 so we can watch nicely, not just a selected few games
O Brian< The WORST international referee EVER???
Sincerley hope that you have a job stacking shelves in Primark. YOU WERE AND STILL ARE A HOPELESS HUMAN BEING
DISGRACE
betson is a thug
Why Betsen was not arrested for the stud-gouge on Matt Dawson...
