Helpful review, especially the difference and your remarks in Contrast settings. I was just experimenting with my 5000X and noticed that Distortion Correction only works with the 170 degree FOV setting. No matter what FOV you set, it reverts back to 170 and (slightly) removes the fisheye effect. Of course the fisheye isn't as severe in the lower FOV's, but even in 110 it is present and the Distortion Correction will not 'fix' it.

Excellent review as allways Andrew! With the current firmware I really like these cams (with older firmwares it had far to much compression :$) I need more of them mounting frames.. Those are handy indeed :) Have you tried if this one can do live video-out like the SJ4000 plus can?
Just tried it with mine.. No such luck :( Maybe a different USB cable would work.. I don't know (my cable does work with the Turnigy 2K & Quanum 4K cameras)
More good stuff. But I bought my M20 yesterday. As you touched on in this vid, in some aspects, the M20 may well suit my needs better than this one. One thing is for sure though, its nice to see that there are options to look at rather than just Gopro.

Depends what you use them for, both are very good. SJ5000X has better low light performance with less image noise, and better quality when using narrow FOV settings. On wide FOV they are very similar with the SJ5000X having a little more contrast. M20 is smaller and lighter and has bigger still image files.
Sir if you connect it to a mobile through wifi and take a video or pic it will save automatically in your mobile? And you can sink your videos from cam memory to your iphone as well?

Thanks for that. Good to know. The distortion correction does do weird stretching towards the corners. I'm not likely to use it much.

Pretty sure it can do video out, I have a cable coming to try it. Compression artifacts do appear in some situations but not too bad.

Both are very good. The M20 is smaller and lighter and I like the slightly lower contrast. The SJ5000X Elite has a bigger LCD.

You can listen to music and start/stop the camera using SJCAM zone at the same time. Just tried it.

Why don't they make one with a low profile like the Mobius/runcam? The GOPRO style is too blocky.
Yes, I still mostly use Mobius and 808 for onboard.

I have not tested the Xiaomi Yi, but I suspect it is better than the SJCAM, but it's much more expensive
