Sam's-Cool Reptiles well for me never happened for something to not be shipped! Yes there are sometime delays if something isn't in stock. But i can live in that, they have good prices and gathering points get me more discount on long run. I don't think the Gyro Sensor would crop the picture since it's Hardware based in SJ5000x, software versions do that however such as GitUp Git2 pro. Can you confirm it cropped?

To improve audio recording, does it support external microphones? Is it mono or stereo? 2. How is it in low-light conditions? Is there an aperture rating? 3. Does the software update improve "continuous" recording? How large can each file be in the recent version? 4. Does the camera continue to record in a new file once it reaches the file size limit Once the file maximum file size is reached does the camera automatically continue to record in a new file or is it necessary to restart the camera each time the limit is reached? 5. What's your evaluation of slow motion recording? One of my uses would be in sports for technique evaluation where slow motion HD with detail would be awesome. I should have liked to listen to a little piece with the audio on - I count that this camera just have mono, but what about the quality - with and without the waterproof box?

+Jbay2608 Yes you can use large cards now, but its also the same FAT32 file system which means that when file reach 4gb~ size it will split .. In preparing update review because SJCAM pushed a lot of updates and camera is even better now

I see the price is really good, $159.00 and you get two extra batteries. It says it can do 80 minutes at 2K, so that means probably much more at 720P?

Stabilisation is really good now, im in process of testing now, and in a week i will post a new video. But in short camera is really good buy for the price and what it can offer.

Hi there, Can you tell me if your videos can last more than 28min? I´ve been having that problem... So, being a noob and being SJ5000X ELITE my first ever camera, beside my mobile phone... let's see how far we've come. From what i found on reviews/blogs etc. the SJ5000X Elite comes with a native 12,4 MP Sony Sensor IMX078CQK and has a sensitivity of 1437 digits and could shoot 4000 x 3000 pixels 4k at 42fps, but even tough it could shoot 4K with 42fps the Novatek 96660 chip is not capable of that. The Sony IMX206 sensor, used in the Xiaomi Yi and in Git2, has a sensitivity of 1096 digits and can only shoot 4k at 12fps. So at least for video application the IMX078 "in SJCAM" is better due to better low light sensitivity and higher fps in 4k video compared to IMX206. Both GIT2 and SJ5000X Elite, have the Novatek 96660 chip, and offer the same video resolition: 4K - max. 24fps - interpolated 2K - max. 30fps 1080p - max. 60fps 720p - max. 120fps We have also to consider the Memory Card, and there are various Micro SD CARDS: Class 10 - indicates that the card provides write speed of at least 10MBs. UHS-I U1 - means that the card is fast enough for Full HD video recording at 1080p - 10MBs constant writing. UHS-I U3 - means that the card is fast enough for shooting videos in 4K Ultra HD - 30MBs constant writing, with devices that support the UHS-I standard. Unfortunatly SJ5000X Elite camera needs the card to be formatted FAT32, and that´s where my main problem was, because in my every videos, they only reached 28min:13sec tops. The fact that it requires a SD CARD formatted in FAT32... which have the max of 4GB per file because thats a FAT32 limit... in practice it means that you wont be able to film more tha 27 to 29min straight... the camera continuous recording, but when you access the files storage, instead of a 90min film i ended with three 30min files. I only have a SanDisk Ultra 32GB class 10 Memory card, as they said it would be enough. Memory Capacity: 32G Class Rating: Class 10 Read Speed: 48MB/s Write Speed: 20MB/s Im trying to find out if other users of sj5000x elite have the same issue with a UHS-I U3 cards, wich are the best class to film 4k and have atleast a 40MB/S WRITE SPEED, or if it would solve my problem of cyclic videos... the new firmware updates 1.2.4 and 1.2.5 claim to solve the 64gb and 128gb bugs, and improved the sound, but there still exists the sound moffled issue, very noisy like grainy/scratching on clothes.
Wich other low cost 4k cameras can prevent that? Can you tell me if git2, elecam, firefly 6s have the same format in card storage? In git2 it can get a 64gb, is there any diference in exfat 64 quilobytes does it change how long the videos last?
+Filipe Aparício Dias it depends on many factors, but i cant give you 100% answer. Maybe on git2 it will not split but maybe it will, i didnt have chanse to test it. But i will test elecam soon, also maybe you look all this from wrong angle, it is normal to take some video editing to make better video in the end, i dont see sense to watch 2 3 hrs bike ride from one part ... there is always something to cut out. But hey im not a biker so maybe im speaking crap :)

Oki, then it aren't as TAG filming... TAG is that it caches the preset time you like, 30sec I use, then when you hit Rec on the remote it records 30sec back in time and 60sec forward, you get 90sec clips with only the parts you really like... Pre edited on the fly =) // johan

I have now switched to the GoPro Hero 7 Black....My SJCAM SJ8 Pro broke within a couple of months of using it (shut off and wouldn't turn on at all). SJCAM told me to contact the seller which I did who offered to send me a new one...it never arrived. They supposedly sent a second (from Malaysia again) it never arrived again. Then the seller said they would refund me...never happened despite repeated promises. I contacted SJCAM to tell them I wanted to get a replacement and sent them video of the malfunction (like I did to the seller). They erased my help ticket like it never existed...I haven't heard back from them...I'm done with SJCAM...which is sad because I like the SJ7 STAR for cockpit audio when I fly. The only problem I've had with the two SJ7 STAR cameras is that the micro usb port has broken off in both cameras (I superglued a micro usb to usb cable on the second one before it totally broke off so I could keep using it in the plane while charging it at the same time with a USB power supply). The first SJ7 would not record sound after the micro usb port broke (while using the plug in official SJCAM microphone. The GoPro Hero 7 surpasses everything...that's all I'm saying..the only problem is that it's never going to be as cheap as SJCAM. I did all of my video reviewing with the SJ7 and SJ8 but they will be retired soon with GoPro cameras. The hypersmooth technology is what sold me and it is great. I do not have room in the plane to have a gyro. UPDATE: They also took down my 2nd help ticket without anything said....DO NOT BUY SJCAM!!!!....or should we call it SCAM and make the J silent?
for fast action scenes (moto) 1080P 60fps or 2k 30fps (i prever resolution over fps more details) WDR ON Gyro ON if you put it on helmet but if fixed to bike i would turn gyro OFF. Try and find what fits you best.

Please help my quality is very bad for some reason I filmed in 1080p 30 and my friends sj4000 had better quality, and when I film on 4k it like slows the video down and has terrible quality and looks almost as if its glitching. I don't know what to do. When I film the sky the trees look like they were edited to maximum sharpness but it is actually really bad and looks weird PLEASE Help.

Info: my SJ5000x Elite firmware v1.5.5 works with Kingston 128 GB SD micro Canvas React (SDXC Class 10 UHS-I U3) card. Formatted by Ridgecrop fat32format/guiformat utility to FAT32 (32k sector). According to the manufacturer, max. 64 GB is supported.
You might note that this company refuses to help anyone that has bought the camera from anyone other than them. I can't get it to install firmware 1.3. they told me to go to where i bought it from. I bought it in Bangkok. I live in Texas USA.

Man that's not a pre-aplied screen protector. That's like the protector that comes on SmartPhones screens, and they use a bit of glue. You're supposed to peel that off, the glue might make the screen become yellow-ish.
My experience is different. My parents are using Doogee and Meizu i used Xiaomi for 1 and half year in row (two models) and i'm on Samsung now just because of wow effect from S8 scree

Nice review, thanks, You made one mistake at 2:35. The second case door isn't waterproof.. It has 2 big holes for the microphone sound.

How is the battery life? SJ5000 wifi claimed 70mins but only lasted 30 mins. (Screen and wifi off)

hey, you did a mistake, the video says 2k on the screen but when I try to change the video setting for youtube it only goes to 1080p. Besides that great video.
Its not mistake, it is 4k but rendered in smaller resolution. You can watch my other video samples which are rendered in 4k

I have now switched to the GoPro Hero 7 Black....My SJCAM SJ8 Pro broke within a couple of months of using it (shut off and wouldn't turn on at all). SJCAM told me to contact the seller which I did who offered to send me a new one...it never arrived. They supposedly sent a second (from Malaysia again) it never arrived again. Then the seller said they would refund me...never happened despite repeated promises. I contacted SJCAM to tell them I wanted to get a replacement and sent them video of the malfunction (like I did to the seller). They erased my help ticket like it never existed...I haven't heard back from them...I'm done with SJCAM...which is sad because I like the SJ7 STAR for cockpit audio when I fly. The only problem I've had with the two SJ7 STAR cameras is that the micro usb port has broken off in both cameras (I superglued a micro usb to usb cable on the second one before it totally broke off so I could keep using it in the plane while charging it at the same time with a USB power supply). The first SJ7 would not record sound after the micro usb port broke (while using the plug in official SJCAM microphone. The GoPro Hero 7 surpasses everything...that's all I'm saying..the only problem is that it's never going to be as cheap as SJCAM. I did all of my video reviewing with the SJ7 and SJ8 but they will be retired soon with GoPro cameras. The hypersmooth technology is what sold me and it is great. I do not have room in the plane to have a gyro.
UPDATE: They also took down my 2nd help ticket without anything said....DO NOT BUY SJCAM!!!!....or should we call it SCAM and make the J silent?

for fast action scenes (moto) 1080P 60fps or 2k 30fps (i prever resolution over fps more details) WDR ON Gyro ON if you put it on helmet but if fixed to bike i would turn gyro OFF. Try and find what fits you best.

Hello Please help!! I have a Sjcam Sj5000x Elite version it is V1.2-S Date is Dec. 9. Please help my quality is very bad for some reason I filmed in 1080p 30 and my friends sj4000 had better quality, and when I film on 4k it like slows the video down and has terrible quality and looks almost as if its glitching. I don't know what to do. When I film the sky the trees look like they were edited to maximum sharpness but it is actually really bad and looks weird PLEASE Help.

You might note that this company refuses to help anyone that has bought the camera from anyone other than them. I can't get it to install firmware 1.3. they told me to go to where i bought it from. I bought it in Bangkok. I live in Texas USA.

For example the SJ5000 + has an issue at 480p 240fps.

Man that's not a pre-aplied screen protector. That's like the protector that comes on SmartPhones screens, and they use a bit of glue. You're supposed to peel that off, the glue might make the screen become yellow-ish.

what's your opinion ? the other candidate i'm about to buy is git2 , but it was so rare in my country and it's really difficult to look for its accessories, so i choose the sjcam. :(
