Magnus was AT a lot of the same competitions as Adam, and yet every time they hang out it's like Magnus is in awe. It's like a kid meeting his favorite celebrity and it's so wholesome.

Adam is so freaking likeable in these training sessions with Magnus. And again, I almost like the video quality and documentation of these videos more than the climbing, which is VERY impressive from the AO video team. Amazing collab guys!
Not only in this training sessions. I met him several years ago when he was still a teenager at the Czech outdoor boulder cup. He was followed by people with a video camera. At first I thought 'oh his parents film him'. But then I saw him climbing. All the time he behaved totally normal. No star attitude at all.
The classic music when Ondra is climbing is so appropriate, when he climbs it does look like a form of art. I feel like Magnus is a human being with extremily high climbing skills, Adam is something else, he is the essence of sport climbing, like Dave Macleod is the essence of trad climbing or Ueli Steck the essence of mountaineering. There are just a couple of persons per discipline that can reach that level, to see him climb is a joy for the eyes and an honour. I really hope he will get the gold medal he deserves in 2024

Nims is an unbelievably strong human being but what he did and how he did it has very litlle of mounteneering: oxygen, helicopter, using normal routes (especially this one). What Messner, Bonatti, Humar, Kukuczka, Leclerc ecc. did was extremely more difficult, technical and wild. I mentioned Ueli just because is contemporary, he for instance climbed the south face of Annapurna which Nims couldn't have done in his wildest dreams, Humar the south face of Dhaulagiri which is infinitely more dangerous and extreme than Nims's feat, Bonatti climbed for a week in winter a new route on the north face of matterhorn, and Messner climbed everest alone in alpin style along a new route from the north. If you know even little about mountaneering you have to recognize how more incredible this adventures were. What Nims did was absolutely astonishing I don't argue that but his case I fear is similar to Honnold Free solo. Their acomplishments are incredible but also very well documented in nice Netflix movies, and this led a lot of people that undesrtand very little about climbing to mention Honnold every time becuase it is the only thing they know about climbing and I fear is gonna be the same now with Nims and mountaneering. I noticed in fact that the truly mountaneering adventure that Nims did is seldom mentioned because it wasn't mentioned in his documentary that is the invernal at K2. I am sorry for the lengthy response and if I seem condiscending, but I am a mountaneer and I do love mountains dearly and this topics are really close to me so I wanted to answer properly. Cheers

I love how Adam gives instruction and Magnus just does it like it's no big deal. I've seen Magnus direct people and they struggle. two people who areso good at what they do and understand the instruction is amazing.
He's n amazing climber, what sets them so far apart isn't physical strength it's the level of complexity the can handle mentally in a route and creativ processing all at once. I'm a Physio myself and the amount of motor control and adaptability Adam has is of the charts he's like awaking skywalker. His mind is made for climbing
Personally seeing Adams hard work not pay off is really humbling. Sometimes we don’t get what we deserve and Adam has shown us how to use failure as fuel! Great video thanks for being an inspiration

Well there are currently three professional climbers/partners of climbers who are pregnant, so in 20 years we might see those elite genetics competing against one another! Shauna Coksey, Adam Ondra and Alex Honnel. And Tomoa Nagasaki just got married to another pro climber so maybe they will bring another superbaby into the mix 😂
In my opinion, the horse and rider collaboration, at the Olympic level, is the gold standard for collabs towards which each of Adam and Magnus might aspire, remembering that it is performed without chalk, with shirts on. It is something in that category "Beyond Focus".

I love the way Adam is completely 100% focussed, and then completely switched off and chilled two seconds after letting go. It’s absolutely clear that he genuinely loves what he does, and his enthusiasm is incredibly infectious. It’s so easy to be a fan.
The amount of chalk on those holds is incredible. He's just climbed and climbed and climbed and climbed every day of his life, all over the world. Truly amazing and such a generational talent. Adam is exactly the same age as me. I'm truly in awe of his accomplishments.

Any time I think I'm training hard I end up catching one of Adam's training videos and realize how much harder I could be working. Definitely not the same caliber of athlete, but it's nice to have that perspective for motivation.

Anyone can lose on any given day. Adam is still the best. He just didn’t win one competition that included a discipline in which he does not compete.

Adam, thank you for the insights in your training and preparation for the comps. It is really fascinating to get a slight idea of lhe your level of dedication and professionalism. These two guys just love climbing and I adored watching them both training ;) Humble, honest and so good at what they're doing. Even each sticker was set with thoughtfullness ;) The personal dedication Adam wrote in his book for Magnus was my favourite part.
I love your videos Magnus because you are like a guide through the world of rock climbing. you show us the ins and outs of the sport, the men, the women, the places, the people. You may not have made it to the Olympics, but I would much rather have you show us the world of rock climbing than anyone else. So thankyou!
The scene when Magnus is bouldering and Adam is warming up with piano music in the background, is one of the most romantic I've ever seen. Surely more romantic than the Twilight saga. Great video!

Any time I think I'm training hard I end up catching one of Adam's training videos and realize how much harder I could be working. Definitely not the same caliber of athlete, but it's nice to have that perspective for motivation.
