God I love this game. Have since I was a kid. Such an engrossing game & world. The soundtrack is fricken awesome and atmospheric too. Absolutely love the theme from the Morgue… 3AM on a Summer Night. Actually took the original SNFS for 3AM on a Summer Night & properly mixed it for listening on headphones. It involved doubling the track and panning the duplicat tracks in opposite directions by 50%, in Vegas, to create overlap in the channels, not present in the original SNSF. Without it, it sounded all kinds of wrong over headphones, as you had half the instruments playing In the left ear but not the right and the other half of the instruments in the right ear but not the left. This works on speakers, because of the natural overlap their outputs have… thus mixing them. This isn’t the case with the isolated sounds from headsets phones. Imagine listing to you favorite song but only being able to hear the lyrics in one ear, and the instruments in another. That’s basically what it’s like to listen to the raw SNFS of this game over headphones.
Great walkthrough, UCBVG man! Really love the tidbit and the trivia in the video, always something new to learn here. Keep up the good work, brother! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fun fact: the world of Shadowrun and Earthdawn are the same world, just different times. The deal with Shadowrun in magic is just coming back into the world, and Earthdawn is what happened later. True story.
Thank you for making this video on my favorite SNES game - I never managed to get very far on my own. I sincerely hope you cover the Genesis Shadowrun in the near future!
Very nice, you covered everything, from the zip gun to the golden naga karma farming, and the infamous vampire money glitch (pretty sure that's not by design) My only gripe is that the assault cannon becomes available way too late, after the volcano. You literally only get to use it once in the Aneki building and that's it, I could have really used that firepower against Drake. Imagine having that beast of a weapon in the early game, you'll be steamrolling through the arena fights unopposed. Alas, all that power, too little too late Just to point out, the Jester cuts Drake's HP by half, that's the main reason for using it That $85k on the 5th floor of Aneki is either a real tease by the developer, an oversight, or they just want to subtly remind you to try out the assault cannon and the full body suit in case you still don't have it by this point, giving you enough to get both in one go The combat feels clunky compared to the genesis version, especially when you need to manually control a crosshair just to aim, while the genesis one just point and shoot after locking on to the nearest target When Cyberpunk 2077 released, I thought it was derived from Shadowrun. Granted there are no dragons, fantasy creatures or magic, but there's a lot of cyberware (though I'm guessing the term is not really exclusive to Shadowrun but the cyberpunk genre in general) and like the snes and genesis game it both features a Japanese megacorporation
I love this game. I discovered it in the 90's on emulator. Never got a chance to try it authentic growing up. About 15 years ago I picked up a copy on SNES and gave it a play through. What an outstanding game! Monster Max for the GameBoy came out the same year and was difficult to find. Another absolute gem that hardly anyone played at the time.
I played the Genesis version, and that's more in a TTRPG system, but the matrix hacking was top-notch for the genesis. I'd love to see the Genesis version run at some point. Lots of little lore eggs buried in that game.
@ U can Beat Video Games The dancing guy with weasels @1:24:15 There is a "game" where you tie off the cuffs of your pants and put weasels in your pants to see how long you can last before you give up. I think it is scottish or something. It was in a Tom Scott video.
Fantastic choice for the UCBVG treatment! I rented this on a whim way back in 1993 or 1994 (whoa) and was so utterly captivated that I found myself pouring countless hours (and rental late fees, probably) into finishing it - such a deep, immersive, and unique experience, especially for its time.
I was playing the pen and paper version at this time so I greatly preferred the Genesis version. I thought they did an excellent job transferring Shadowrun to a 16bit console.
I've never even heard of this, gonna get buddy at work to put it in my snes mini. It looks like such a dystopian masterpiece, especially given how old it is.
This gets a thumbs up before I even watch the video. This was one of my favorite SNES games, and the first one I hacked into my mini-SNES when I got it.
I normally don't watch full movie but I did for this one. Well done! I love Shadowrun because Cyberpunk theme really fascinated me. I never really beat the game when I was a kid. I rented this game so I never had enough time to beat it.
Shadowrun... such a criminally underrated game. I am glad that HBS did the Shadowrun Returns, Dragonfall and Hong Kong Games. These are games I still play now and then.. especially UGCs.
This is my second favorite game of all time, only behind the Sega version. I love these two games so much that I made UGC/Mod that connects the two games together. I spent 8 years making it, and I feel I did these two amazing games justice. It’s called “Brothers to the End” and I would love to see whether you think I hit the mark or not.
Since she is the only free hire npc (after Rat Shaman kill) this armor upgrade is very nice because she's a pretty good mage but very easy to get killed.
Shadowrun is one of my favorite settings in general and has really cool lore. This and the Genesis game were both great for the time, and the Shadowrun PC games later on did a good job as well
I remember reading about this game in Nintendo Power and wanted to play it so bad but never saw it anywhere until years later I found a used copy. I wasn't disappointed.
From a dialogue standpoint, Shadowrun on the SNES was definitely super immersive and ahead of its time. But I'm more partial to the Genesis version. It may not have had as many dialogue options, but I feel like it played more like a open-ended tabletop RPG, as opposed to the more streamlined action of the SNES version. I'm actually curious to see how you'd approach a walkthrough for an open-ended RPG like Genesis Shadowrun. One that has story progressions but requires a lot of grinding and random quest taking to reach those objectives.
This video came up by chance and glad it did. I was unfamiliar with this game. Looks like a lot of fun. Disappointed to discover I couldn't get it on my Switch. Thanks for sharing though. A thoroughly entertaining and informative post.
Wow, I never even knew about this game and I'm very sad I missed it. This game would have been a great experience as a kid, but it was amazing to experience it in an interesting way.
I was running pen and paper Shadowrun 1st and 2nd edition for years, so when the NSES version came out, I was all over it...but it was totally incorrect by the rules. It was as if the developers read a Cliff's Notes version of the world and rules and then told it to kids who told all of it to other developers who actually made the game. Still, it was fun and I really enjoyed it! I still wish they'd reprint the 2nd Ed. books....
One thing about keeping Kitsune, if you keep your leather jacket you can give it to her and it gives her a lot more survivability.

One of my all time favorites. Used to play the FASA games too. Shadow Run returns was good also. I wish there was a RIFTS game.
I played the Genesis version, and that's more in a TTRPG system, but the matrix hacking was top-notch for the genesis.
I'd love to see the Genesis version run at some point. Lots of little lore eggs buried in that game.
Looooove the atmosphere of this game.
Your guides are incredible.

The dancing guy with weasels @1:24:15
There is a "game" where you tie off the cuffs of your pants and put weasels in your pants to see how long you can last before you give up.
Game changed my life both SNES and gen
I've never even heard of this, gonna get buddy at work to put it in my snes mini. It looks like such a dystopian masterpiece, especially given how old it is.
Thanks so much for this one - definitely on my wish list of games I hoped you'd cover.
This gets a thumbs up before I even watch the video. This was one of my favorite SNES games, and the first one I hacked into my mini-SNES when I got it.
Damn, I needed something to break up this long ass drive today. Thanks UCBVG!
This guy's voice sounds like he should be doing voiceover for orientations at UPS.
Everytime I see one of the NPCs like the Ferocious Orc in the arena.... I just can't help but think they look like Johnny from Chrono Trigger.
I fell asleep while listening to this last night, and it started influencing my dreams lol.
The music from this game still finds its way to the front of my brain at least once a week
Dude fantastic video. I loved this game as a kid when it came out. Good memories
I'm stuck at work right now, but I can't wait to get home and watch this!
Can u link to ur mod? i wanna try it
@@redubd For some reason I can't post links, but It's called Brothers to the End and it's on the Steam Workshop page for Shadowrun Dragonfall.
This game is kind of secretly my favorite game on the SNES
Same.
Loved this game. This one felt more like a rpg adventure game, while the Genesis version was a hardcore rpg.
One of the most overlooked games of all time. really love the gameplay and music. The sequel mentioned in the credits never came :(
what a dope channel I love the intro and the approach! I subbed!
1:02:00 If you save the leather armor you can give it to Kitsune later on.
Since she is the only free hire npc (after Rat Shaman kill) this armor upgrade is very nice because she's a pretty good mage but very easy to get killed.
I had both the snes and Sega games. I for whatever reason only played the Sega version I loved the game. I want to play this version now. Lol
Shadowrun is one of my favorite settings in general and has really cool lore. This and the Genesis game were both great for the time, and the Shadowrun PC games later on did a good job as well
I've been waiting for this! I loved this game as a kid.
I remember reading about this game in Nintendo Power and wanted to play it so bad but never saw it anywhere until years later I found a used copy. I wasn't disappointed.
The Genesis version ate up more hours of my childhood than any other game. Stupid matrix eating my programs set me back too many times to count
I love the edition of the side bar with map etc. Really great guide!
my favorite snes game of all time, and one of my favorite games for any system. good pick!
HERE WE GO!! SHADOWRUN ON SNES WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!
I still wish they'd reprint the 2nd Ed. books....
