Knicks fan here, and without double-checking your VORP math, I knew instinctively that the Knicks would contribute 3 of the final 4 on the Worst Highest-Paid NBA players ever. Congrats Knicks! To me, the biggest takeaway from all of the finalists is that contracts seem to go one season too long. I wonder if it would make more sense to pay MORE money per year, but LESS time. You might be able to recruit more talent with less downside risk?
