@@CarnagexSena It is a fact that they were on a trajectory for a playoff seat last season, considering their win-rate and strength of schedule, before Haliburton got hurt.
How you want to interpret their chances or think if they are ready or not is not what I'm argueing. I'll leave that to people that follow the team full time. They certainly were very capable of it last year and their team hasn't got worse. With no teams tanking for Wemby anymore, it might actually be a harder race this season, even though they should be a decent amount better.
My argument is that they are equally likely to make the playoffs (not just the play-in) than those 3 teams mentioned, meaning they should go higher on the tier list. I would say they are more likely, from my perspective, given the season for the Nets, Raptors and Hawks is extremely uncertain.

    1. Kyle Washington lol
    2. The Hornets will be better than that this year. 2 seasons ago when the whole roster wasn’t hurt, 43 wins. Add a legit center to that team in Mark Williams, and a 2nd overall pick in Brandon Miller. Don’t forget LaMelo had that team at 43 wins with Mason Plumle as the starting center. Mark Williams is a legit all defensive team candidate with a full season as the starting center. If you’re taking last season into account then you’re already failing to see this teams true talent. No one was healthy at the same time. The starting lineup of LaMelo, Rozier, Hayward, PJ, and Mark with Oubre as the 6th man played only 3 games last season. In those 3 games they went 2-1. Last season was the worst possible situation for the team. If you actually take time to research the Hornets last season you would see this seasons team is not the same team as last seasons team.

I'm not surprised the Hornets are in D tier. I really hope the Brandon Miller pick doesn't turn out to be another Kidd-Gilchrist type pick for the Hornets, but I'm not even sure the Hornets would be good even if Miller turns out to be good. The team always knows how to squander high end talent no matter who it is.

I really wish I could not be a Hornets fan for a hour just so I can see the flaws in this team that everyone else sees.
Personally I cant see a roster with:
An at worst top 15 point guard in Lamelo capable of being given a nod to be a all star replacement
A solid shooter in Rozier who really is just as solid as any other shooter a playoff team wants on their roster
A number 2 pick that was literally consensus top 3 in supposedly "projected one of the deepest draft classes in NBA history" the guys most frequent compliments are elite shooting and being a 6'9" wing who can do it all outside of create his own shot.
A solid stretch 4 in PJ Washington than even Dallas and potentially the cavs wanted
A center in Mark Williams that was really good as a rookie definsively and only got better as the season went on and his role got bigger
Cody Martin and Nick Richards simply just being solid bench players at their position
Miles bridges at minimum be a good bench player coming off of a year away from being a borderline all star in alot of people eyes, I mean I always felt his was at best a decent starter. But as a bench guy he would be really good at the 3 spot.
Hayward simply throwing him on the bench and keeping him healthy would undoubtly make him one of the best six mans in the NBA
that right there is a solid 9 man rotation on paper the only thing the team lacks is a back up point guard.

@@danielwalker6909 I don't personally see what makes that so foolish. Only reason pacers record was as bad as it was, was because Hali got injured and I think missed about 12-15ish games, maybe more? I can't remember. They lost like, all but 2 of those games. Couple that with the fact they were sortve tanking towards the end of the year. They'll definitely achieve bare minimum 40 wins and 10 more wins above last year's win total of 35 doesn't seem outlandish aslong as the 24 yr old allstar averaging 20&10 improves even a little and Mathurin takes a potential jump. The bench is stacked and they theoretically improved their biggest flaw, defense, with the moves they made this off-season.
With the upsides of Hali, Mathurin, and other improving, the additions made this off-season, the weakening of a couple top 6 Eastern conference teams, the fact they only lost as many games as they did last year due to injury, the stated goal to be a winning team, and the fact everyone and their mom is counting out the Pacers, all those things would lead me to believe this could be a bigger yesr than anyone is telling you or I.

Bridges out all year, Ball goes down early, then Rozier, then Hayward, then Oubre. They had basically no significant stretches of healthy basketball and obviously missed their second best player all year. Assuming they avoid THAT, Bridges stays onnthe straight and narrow, and Miller is just a solid rookie, there's no way they should be THAT bad.

I have the Lakers at S-tier. This is probably the best supporting cast LeBron has had during his entire tenure with the Lakers. The 2020 Lakers were dominant in the West and in the post-season. Health is obviously a factor but LeBron is still playing at a high level and there's just no discounting the amount of experience and leadership that he brings to the team.
AD was on another level defensively in this most recent post-season so he just had to replicate that, at least for this next post-season. The Lakers resigned almost all of their core guys and added nice pieces on bargain contracts with high/good upside to round out the rest of the roster. The Lakers have the salary flexibility to make a big move at the trade deadline and they're a top destination for any attractive buyout targets that may pop up.
They got to the conference finals despite only being together for a few months. They were also only within a possession or two away in every game against the eventual champions despite many of their players underperforming and LeBron with only one good foot. Now they'll have a whole season together and they just have to perform a little better in the post-season this time around. With a little luck, LeBron won't return from a foot injury a couple of games before the post-season starts this time around.

I personally disagree with the suns being an S tier team. Please comment logically if you disagree, but here is my rational:
The suns look like a talented team on paper but they lack a strong defensive backbone. What player on this team is considered a high end defensive player? Who is the vocal leader and tone setter on this team? With all this offensive power their three stars are all ball dominant which means their offense has a level of diminished returns while non of those stars even if you include ayton are not the high end defenders, you can devate that thier not bad defneders but none of them are in the high tier defensive category.

I get what you're saying, I just don't think it will be as big of a factor as you're making it out to be. I think you're underestimating how hard it will be for teams to keep up with them on the offensive end. Booker, Durant, and Beal can easily create their own shot. When doubled they can then hit Ayton down low or Gordon/Yuta on the perimeter. IMO the only thing potentially stopping them will be injuries.

I’m not gonna pretend I don’t make fun of Day to Davis all the time but you’re 100% right. AD when healthy is a top 10 player and even has flashes of being a top 5. He’s also played more games over the last two seasons than Steph or KD. He gets way too much heat for no reason. Hopefully this season will go better for him, especially since he can rest cause LeBron is exempt from the load managements rules cause of his age and the addition of Christian Wood. Wood, Rui, and Vanderbilt will hopefully be able to take more of the defensive load from AD to make his job a bit easier. I don’t even normally care for the Lakers, AD, or LeBron but I kinda do want to see them win this season. Giannis and Steph are my favourite players but I don’t think this Warriors team has it in them without some crazy trade for someone like Siakam and I kinda want Giannis to leave Milwaukee so him winning MVP and then the Bucks losing in the playoffs would be a better scenario to me. It’s a weird situation to find myself not only believing in the Lakers’ potential but also cheering for them
