    This is an awesome series of videos you have put together on the rebuild of your boat. Thank you for taking the time to produce this whilst doing a major rebuild, I can hardly begin to appreciate how difficult it is to film while working. Did the missing part ever show up ? It has been a couple years, you may have cleaned your garage by now ;-)

    Hey I removed a 350 Mercruiser from my old 22' Wellcraft and found those two spring washers laying in the bilge. I had no idea what they were at the time and threw them out figuring the owner before me dropped them. When I was putting the engine back in, I couldn't line up the outdrive and remembered those washers. Luckily the SeaRay dealer is five minutes from me and had them in stock. Those were the cheapest parts I ever had to replace on a boat. Nice job and great videos.

    Vaseline does not belong in a garage. It actually accelerates the breakdown and deterioration of rubber. Use silicone based grease.

    Friscoboater, I love all of your videos. You have walked me through my Sea Ray SRV 192 rebuild. Although i have one more question for ya. When aligning the engine, my rear mounts are obstructed by the bulkhead in my sea ray. Did you have to disconnect the rear mounts and remove the entire egnine each time you adjusted the mounts? Mine may be a little different than yours (inline 165). It has a single tripod that bolts into the engine mount/haul. Thanks for all the help. Sam

    Man, I've watched all these rebuild videos. You are incredibly detailed and have helped me with my 1994 SeaRay 220!! One question, I see two different batteries installed on this video. Why? Is one a deep cycle and the other a high amp cranking? Any response would be appreciated!!

    When you got to the point of drilling your holes for your engine mounts, how did you know the location of drilled holes was correct?

    A good life lesson how a negative thing like loosing a screw can be someone looking out for you so you don't break the whole engine !

    Vaseline is not good to put on rubber seals it will deteriorate them, use a silicone lubricant.

      So then why do most hydraulic companies tell you to use it when installing orings?

  • @FriscoBoatersGarage
    @FriscoBoatersGarage  12 лет назад

    The only bolt you have to adjust is the front. The rears are fixed.

    Vaseline on an O-Ring or Seal will deteriorate the rubber. Use Plumbers Grease.

    Hello, I'm having ignition timing issues. I'm trying to time the ignition on a 97 mercruiser 5.7 with an alignment gun I bought from an auto part shop. I've already tried most of the directions they have listed on the internet but I can't seem to figure it out. Can you help by telling me how to or maybe showing a video? they are no video about that anywhere on the internet...Please help last summer I couldn't enjoy the summer at all because of it and I want to be ready before it gets here.Thanks

      Looks like you posted this 10 years ago. I have never heard of an alignment gun. I think you are talking about a timing light. There should be several videos or written instructions on how to properly set the timing on mercruiser engines.

    the mechanic removed the stern with no problem but when installing the new sterndrive he told me the engine was out of alignment, yet after a few he got it in,still said the engine is not aligned, So, how can I get it aligned without removing the darn stern drive again?

    • @billybob7275
      @billybob7275 Год назад

      You can't. Proper alignment is done with the outdrive removed. An alignment tool is very helpful though not absolutely necessary. The drive shaft needs to slide in easily with only a little rough bump when the o'rings contact the gimbal bearing and splines of the coupler. If it takes more than a good kick to get it in then it is not aligned.
