    Ha-ish v ha-isha asher ba-video tovim meod! Asher is the coolest relative pronoun. Also, I had a Jewish acquaintance in college by the name of Asher - surely his name wasn't a relative pronoun! 😅 was it?
    I believe the vowels are long in the name, Āshēr, but short in the relative pronoun, ăsher.

    • @hoathanatos6179
      @hoathanatos6179 3 года назад +1

      Asher the name would be translated into English as either happy, lucky, or blessed; one who is fortunate or who has a good life essentially.

    Question about when ו with שווא before a noun that starts with a שווא as well - if the first letter of the noun is כּ with שווא, does the כּ become כ (soft) when you add ו to it?
    אני אוהב את ערוצכם!

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  3 года назад +1

      Shalom! Yes, and if the first vowel of the word is shewa, the vav will also change to וּ, so for example כְּבָשִׂים plus וְ will be וּכְבָשִׂים. Two changes: כּ to כ and וְ to וּ.

    You are so kind to answer my questions- thank you. Here's another one: Beth is showing a jug and says: The jug is Avram's face. Did I get it right? What does it mean?

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  3 года назад +2

      To say "in front of" someone in Hebrew, you literally say it is "to their face." So here I say the jug is "to Avram's face," meaning "in front of Avram."

    What does it mean "asher"?

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  3 года назад +7

      It's a relative pronoun, so like "that" or "who." Like, the man WHO is in the field. Or, the man THAT has a son.
