It also burns hotter which eliminates creosote buildup because it is essentially wasted potential fuel. When fully stoked, this thing burns so hot that you would not want to sit very close. It's all about mass. Research "masonry Heater". A hot fast burn heats up a large mass of fireplace. The large mass radiates heat for 12 hours.
