Seagull, catches prey, I blinked and suddenly the prey is gone, swallowed it while I blinked.

You'd almost call herons "reptiles of the bird world". So much like how snakes, frogs, gators, crocs, etc stalk their prey and take a while to swallow it whole as the predator waits for the prey to die off.

You'd think year after year the ducks might try someplace else. I guess the predators probably follow them wherever they go though. Ducklings are such an easy meal.

Small ducklings dying quickly or at least fainted fast after the heron grabs their neck. This is a much larger juvenile duck with much stronger neck muscles. So it was alive during the beginning of the swallowing, yes. But heron swallows whole prey, not able to tear with its beak. Pelicans are much worst swallowing alove prey, just watch some videos there.
@@RoyalHungarianAF Even swallowed alive results in a very very fast passing afterwards due to lack of oxygens. Seconds to a minute max.

Watching these types of videos has given me a profound appreciation for being part of a species that is so far removed from the food chain...can you imagine if it were just another day at the office for someone down the street to eat your kids? "Well shucks, maybe we'll have better luck next time."

Here is one way a heron is not like a human. That did not taste like a Mcdonald's hamburger. My guess is it tasted more like licking the floor after service at a McDonald's. It would be the equivalent of shoving all the dirty laundry I could stomach down my throat.
