- These marine gulls are the Lesser Black-backed gull species. They are successfully hunting and dining on the baby waterbird hatchlings, nestlings, and flightless infants right through the waterbirds' breeding season from the start of spring and to the end of the summer months, and eating a baby waterbird regularly throughout these seasons is an essential part of the gull's complex and varied diet.
Gulls are serious scavengers and are also predatory. They seem pretty smart about knowing when and how to grab their foods when there's pressure. They are more aggressive than Corvids and aren't as cautious and curious as Corvids before grabbing their foods and prey.
Gulls are common nest robbers during the breeding season for shorebirds and waterbirds.
All that before an angry swan beacts the CRAP out of them.

It's always intriguing to me to watch an animal hunting for its prey.
Especially Herons. They stand so still and forever in one spot when hunting fish.

All sea birds are scavengers and if they can, they will take other birds as a meal of it presents an opportunity.
Ducks would prefer to raise fledge under the cover of trees and dense shrubs, not in the open like this. This human-made environment does not include shelter for them. Lesser Black Backed Gulls are extremely intelligent, and their diet does include small birds and mammals.

@@irgendeinname9256 Au contraire. When the apex predator reduces it's prey, then the predator reduces it's offspring. If the prey increases, then so does the predator's offspring. That's the balance.
