can I get an F in chat for my concert band season, this is the last thing we were working on before everything shut down :( and lemme tell you it was a blast
[Fire comes on] wHEW THIS IS MY J A M [violently sings along and headbangs to every part at once while doing the percussion with pencils and a laptop keyboard]
I really love how in the beginning it's so cheerful then it gets calm and kinda sad at water. Earth is just hectic and fire is an amazing ending to all the emotions you feel after 4 different songs
I played the piano part for my concert band senior year. 'twas the only time in all 4 years i got to play piano on stage for the band and it's the performance i remember most fondly. Love this piece and the memory it gave me.
This song is my favorite of anything I played in band, what's even better is that I moved from the school I played it at and I actually got to meet Mr. Balmages at the school I went to after we moved! I play tuba, so the intro to fire is the most exhilarating thing ive ever played
Ok this might be true but in fire you can hear the melody of air in the background. This could be because air is what sustains fire. The more h20 the stronger the fire will be and vice versa
One moment I'm proud to be the only hornist in my band is at 55 in fire! So pretty! Also not sure if anyone else noticed, but towards the end of fire also, the opening for air is being played by the percussion section.
First movement is 132 Second movement is 54 Third movement is 144 Fourth movement is 144 The first movement named air Second movement name is water Third movement name is earth Fourth movement name is fire
Really wish we could play this but as advanced as we are for beginners, it's our second year and the hardest piece we've played is like a grade 2 one O.o
The elements symbol looks like a ginger snap cookie... I'm hungry
Drew McClellan love those
I believe that actually IS a gingersnap cookie, but photo-shopped. Go figure.

“Long ago the four nations lived in harmony…”
I absolutely love how Low Reeds get to come in with the Air melody during Fire
don’t forget about mallets 😞
Played this at 14 my freshman year, now I’m a 19 year old music major still jamming to this lol
Sophomore rn who played the oboe solo in air, definetly memorable
Yo, im a freshman playing this too!
Freshman here playing for Uil this year
can I get an F in chat for my concert band season, this is the last thing we were working on before everything shut down :( and lemme tell you it was a blast
I'm working on it now and I get to spin flag to it
My band was working on this right before shut down as well. I loved it so much, but we never got to actually play it in our concerts.
f
F 😔.
My band was working on this pice too. I was so pumped but then we got shut down and our band director retired

I actually did the percussion part for the school winter concert the other night. Sixteenth notes with two hands at the same time, MAN that was hard.
Randoman35 you'll find it becomes easier as time passes (:
I really love how in the beginning it's so cheerful then it gets calm and kinda sad at water. Earth is just hectic and fire is an amazing ending to all the emotions you feel after 4 different songs
As an oboe player, I love the oboe solo in air.
Oh yes.
very fun solo
Played it this year for high school
(Oboist ofc)
As a marimba player, I still love the oboe solo in Air
Played this today, only had 2 days for the whole band to learn it and it sounded down right awesome
Earth sounds so much like Mercury from the Planets suite.
literally exactly what i said a while ago.
YESSSS
Yeah!!! I noticed this too!!!!
I like that the tom drums make the fire movement sound like a stampede of animals
🤣

Playing this right now in grade 10
It’s awesome
Have to play this in grade 8 + other songs for NCBA
I'm not playing this but we are playing Primal Dances in 9th grade and also I'm quitting next year
Behold Avatar: the last airbender: the orchestra
Water is the best. Earth sounds like a combination of Spongebob's Tomfoolery, and Star Wars and Harry Potter.
This is such a great composer! The best part is, unlike most great artists of music, is he hasn't died yet. :-D
Mackey isn’t dead either
@@cjnewberry9997 True! Another great artist for sure.
What made me laugh while I was listening to this was that I kinda new what it would sound like
Same

This guy’s kinda like a Holst Jr.
I have trombone 1, and water is my absolute favorite piece I've ever played. That build up is just so beautiful.
I have trombone 2 and it's all so fun especially fire
My high schools Symphonic Band played this, it was a really fun experience as the guest middle school band
Water is definitely the best. And not because I played the French Horn solo😝
I play the french horn too and this piece was awesome
I play timpani, I have a good 4 measures of rolls and the rest of water is rests, my favorite too
Water sounds so familar like from a dci show but where
I don’t know but we my marching band played this as our show two years ago and straight up when the low brass come in with the ballad I want to cry
I played this in district band. My favorite concert piece ❤
Doing percussion during fire has to be the most fun thing in the world. Just going absolutely ham on the Toms and the Brake Drum
Playing this for festival in a week. Wish me luck lol
Water is so pretty for no reason bro I love it
Played this is high school and am still obsessed with it
It one helluva piece to play, especially as a quad instrumentist (Bb clari, alto sax, bass clari and, trumpet). 😀🔫
2:23 trumpets sound like it’s just a burning memory from everywhere at the end of time
👀
I understand that vibe and it is a muted trumpet so it also adds on to the similarities
Is it just me or are there some subtle combination tones at the beginning of water?
Ok this might be true but in fire you can hear the melody of air in the background. This could be because air is what sustains fire. The more h20 the stronger the fire will be and vice versa
I believe you meant O2 instead is H2O
fire is just sooo good
One moment I'm proud to be the only hornist in my band is at 55 in fire! So pretty! Also not sure if anyone else noticed, but towards the end of fire also, the opening for air is being played by the percussion section.
The ostinato of Air is supposed to be "fanning the flames" of the fire movement :)
Does anybody know what group is performing this piece in this concert?
Fire is the best.
We get a good trombone part
i played the timpani part for this song it was so much fun sounded very cool..
For band we have to play the fire movement, not excited because of the chromatic scales in the beginning.
Why is it so quiet
Ngl I might want to compose around the elements too
6:40 is 🔥🔥🔥
6:30 for fire
I remember doing that oboe solo in air and almost passing out because off that high note
Earth reminds me of Star Wars, like Endor
We're doing out marching band show based on this! This is awesome to hear the piece
Wow that sounds very interesting tell me more
@@krazyone1332 I just think it's actually a cool piece and is a lot of fun to play. We've got our second competition in two days though. Wish us luck!
@@tumbler4123 how did the season go?
@@christophergomez3619 we didn't make it to state, but had a lot of fun and met the best band directors yet

We have to play fire at our all city in a week, we can't play it very well lmao
clarinet solo go brr
Who the hell mixed this?
My favorite to play is Fire
My favorite movement is Air shit gets me a lil emotional.
Is the symbol like.. Ice, Earth, leaves, fire? Cause it's definitely not air or water lol
Straight outta fuckin avatar last airbender I swear
Fire=Indian tribe bonfire dances

Can anyone tell me the tempo?
Uhhh, which movement?
First movement is 132
Second movement is 54
Third movement is 144
Fourth movement is 144
The first movement named air
Second movement name is water
Third movement name is earth
Fourth movement name is fire
This is such a fun song I play trumpet I have third part and earth and fire are my favorite part of the song
Really wish we could play this but as advanced as we are for beginners, it's our second year and the hardest piece we've played is like a grade 2 one O.o
Even in grade 4 its hard
It is a hell of a bit though

@@Breadboi230 ahhh hell nah
i wish there was a higher quality recording. this one just doesnt do this song justice.
JW Pepper has the same recording but the quality is higher than this.
This sounds like marching band
Nobody tell him what Brian Balmages specializes in
I did not see one Avatar: The Last Airbender reference in these comments and frankly I am ashamed :(
I don’t think you looked hard enough because it’s there
