You know what's sad? I've been in death metal bands, I love just about every type of metal out there and I still think Junip and Jose Gonzalez are phenomenal. Some people are just so close-minded.
Men walkin' 'long the railroad tracks Goin' someplace there's no goin' back Highway patrol choppers comin' up over the bridge Hot soup on a campfire under the bridge Shelter line stretchin' 'round the corner Welcome to the new world order Families sleepin' in their cars in the southwest No home no job no peace no rest Refrain: The highway is alive tonight But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad He pulls a prayer book out of his sleeping bag Preacher lights up a blunt and takes a drag Waitin' for when the last shall be first and the first shall be last In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass Got a one-way ticket to the promised land You got a hole in your belly and gun in your hand Sleepin' on a pillow of solid rock Bathin' in the city aqueduct But the highway is alive tonight Where it's headed everybody knows I am sittin' down here in the campfire light Waiting on the ghost of Tom Joad Now tom said mom, wherever there's a cop beatin' a guy Wherever a hungry newborn baby cries Where there's a fight against the blood and hatred in the air Look for me mom I'll be there Wherever there's somebody fightin' for a place to stand Or a decent job or a helpin' hand Wherever somebody's strugglin' to be free Look in their eyes mom you'll see me.
Absolutely, I cannot listen to just one kind of music. being some sort of music elitist would just be more unusual than liking metal, classic rock, and classical music in addition to this. It's better to be open minded about music, you never know what might surprise you when you hear. It might actually be good.
This song belongs to Woodie Guthrie. Junip doesn't own it anymore than Springsteen, but Junip is more likely to inherit it by playing a better rendition.

Are you still in love with death metal? What is that music about? Is it about true life, drama and tragedy? About real people emotion?

I always knew the Rage against the machine cover but this is very different and good.
This rendition Is solid.
José González you're AWESOME
Men walkin' 'long the railroad tracks
Goin' someplace there's no goin' back
Highway patrol choppers comin' up over the bridge
Hot soup on a campfire under the bridge
Shelter line stretchin' 'round the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleepin' in their cars in the southwest
No home no job no peace no rest
Refrain: The highway is alive tonight
But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad
He pulls a prayer book out of his sleeping bag
Preacher lights up a blunt and takes a drag
Waitin' for when the last shall be first and the first shall be last
In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass
Got a one-way ticket to the promised land
You got a hole in your belly and gun in your hand
Sleepin' on a pillow of solid rock
Bathin' in the city aqueduct
But the highway is alive tonight
Where it's headed everybody knows
I am sittin' down here in the campfire light
Waiting on the ghost of Tom Joad
Now tom said mom, wherever there's a cop beatin' a guy
Wherever a hungry newborn baby cries
Where there's a fight against the blood and hatred in the air
Look for me mom I'll be there
Wherever there's somebody fightin' for a place to stand
Or a decent job or a helpin' hand
Wherever somebody's strugglin' to be free
Look in their eyes mom you'll see me.
how the fuck can jose gonzalez manage to top mr Springsteen? Surreal. I'm forever goosebumped.
It's the frame of reference that Springsteen lost decades ago, when he became the richest man in all New Jersey.
He can't. Springsteen's version beats this hands down. Still decent tho. Harmonica in Springsteen's version is immense.
Good. But no way touches the original.

@LUKETHEDRIFTER99 what?
someone should borrow springsteens video and marry it to the audio of this one?
What? Have you heard the Bruce Springsteen original? This is closer to it than the RATM version!!! Better too.
Springsteen is not the original though
