Trying to be patient waiting for 35mm delivery, lol. Your modification looks very good. Really great of you to make it available to anamorphic shooters, we need to leverage every advantage we can.
i Started with anamorphic phone lens review of yours and now this , Really appreciate your work and dedication for putting these videos out Great job 👍🙌
Attention guys, tried this mod on my 35mm RF and on the 24mm RF. The rear group of neither lens could be unscrewed. It seems that the threads were glued. My copies are fairly new. Maybe Sirui has changed something there.
On the newer 35/50mm Sirui lenses, the rear group you mention in this video in 4:45, is not unscrew able to install the 2x modifications. I tried multiple ways and in both lenses it seems almost glued. Any suggestions?
I see some fungus just back of front square glass in Sirui 35 mm anamorphic lens. It seems like screw type. What tool to be used to remove the front glass? Pls provide some link for the tool or the method to remove and clean the front glass. Will appreciate your help.
I’ve been curious if it’s possible to remove the coating on the lenses so the flares aren’t always blue blue. I know steps can be taken in post, but wanted to know if you are aware of a good method to remove or decrease the coatings effects on flares on the lens itself vs in post. Always keep up the fantastic work. Always loved anamorphic films but never really got why until learning more. Anamorphic = LIFE
Does the insert affect the desqueeze? Like will I be able to achieve the 2.39:1 ratio using my GH5 4:3 anamorphic mode? Or will it still desqueeze like a 1.33x lens but just have a more pronounced bokeh like a 2x?
Hi Tito. I want to buy your oval inserts for my 3 SIRUI lenses. 24-35-50. Can you advise me which size to choose for each lens to have a better boke? Thank you
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Thanks for the response Tito. Also wanted to ask if the insert is just placed into the lens or do you need to secure somehow to keep it from turning?
Is there by chance another way to open the lens and place the oval insert? Two of my screws that you see at 4:30, were overtightened and are now stripped so I'm having a very difficult time trying to place my oval insert.
Man. I have to drop this comment as a subscriber. I do own the lens and I love it but Have one question regarding focal distance. Have you tried a lens extension barrel?
I wouldn't trust myself to take apart the lens, but the one drawback I have from buying the 35 is the bokeh isn't as great as it is on the 50. Would diopters and wide angle filters etc be a good workaround for the longer focal length or as a beginner to anamorphic should I invest in the 35?
Can this anamorphic lens be used together with metabones speedbooster for MFT sensor? I would like to get similar to 17.5/ 25mm (35/50mm FF equivalent) focal length, as if these focal lengths were added together :)
@@AnamorphicOnABudget What fast anamorphic lens would you recommend for MFT? I use mft voigtlander spherical fast lenses at the moment, I have all of them, they are great, but I would like to try anamorphic lens (normal focal length)
What about Full frame anamorphic lenses + metabones speedbooster (MFT sensor)? I see that sirui 35mm is for mft/apsc. so why it is a problem to use speedbooster the same way as people often use it for sigma 18-35 ? Is there any general problem with using focal reducers with anamorphic lenses? f2.8 I wouldn't say it is fast, for mft I would say fast would be at least 1.8 or faster, but I feel that 35mm for mft (70mm FF equivalent) would be too tight, if it is not 35mm 2x anamorphic. for mft x1.33, I think it should be around 24-30mm if I want just normal versatile focal length. But I can't really find such anamorphic lenses. Maybe I should go to apsc/full frame...
Due to a variety of reasons, there are currently no anamorphics that work with focal reducers. The design of the lenses is very different and it aims to take advantage of the mirrorless flange distance, placing the rear optics very close to the sensor, and without room for a focal reducer. Check my first Sirui 50mm video to understand more of that! :)
Thanks man! I don't know where you're seeing a transparent material here! The disc has always been black. They come in transparent and you can tint them any color you like. :)
You didn't address why it vignettes on the side though. It doesn't do that on the 50mm. Also, consider opening the new Meike Cine lenses to add an oval insert. These are hot right now. Thx.
Hey Eugenia! I was a little loose on my CIZ settings for this video and the vignetting comes from there. Not from the inserts. :( Good call on the Meikes! I'll look into them!
Hahahaha I think Mathieu Stern started trying things like this! It doubles the squeeze, but also brings in all the limitations of the Anamorphot 40. :P
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Yes! I have read about his tests, but, as I have also written to him, that the limit is that the Anamophot-40 SLR works with lenses that have a diameter of less than 40mm The Sirui is 67mm. I know and value your experience so I wanted to know what you thought. Thank you

Hi Tito. Greetings from a Brazilian in Portugal. I see your hacks with the full frame sensor of the a7s 2 (clear image zoom, diopters, wide adapters, etc), thus making both Siruis 35 & 50mm more versatile. With the prices of a7s 2 going down due to the new release of a7s 3 I want to ask you this: what is your opinion of the getting a new a7s 2 new (under 1k usd) or a new a6500/6600 for casual video? What are the cons & pros of each? If you want to add that to a Q&A video, that would be awesome as well. Thanks again! Obrigado e abraço!

The latter. No squeeze changed, just bokeh.

Diopters would definitely help, but they only work for close focus. The wide angle adapter does a backwards job in this sense though, reducing bokeh.

Great video. On the Rokinon 35mm you used a black oval insert. Why did you use a transparent one now? Why would you use one over the other?
The material is transparant, but you have to paint this. I think you saw the reflections on the surface.

so is it possible to change the MTF mount to EF mount?
Uhh, no. ruclips.net/video/mPzTzRd4_KQ/видео.html

No, I was trying to push clear image zoom to the limit and ended up not doing enough of it. :P
