So the way I look at the difference between Nurgle and The Horned Rat is this:
Nurgle creates plagues to be a form of life, because it is. They may not be pleasant, but bacteria, fungus, parasites, and feces serve an important role in nature. Nurgle is simply the extreme version of this aspect.
Pestilins and the Great Horned Rat are quite different. It’s not about honoring the more fetid aspects of life…it’s about eradication and conquest.
They see the plagues as means of destroying their foes, and much of their plagues are not necessarily bacteria or viruses…as it is virulent toxins and chemicals.
Pestilins are akin to hazardous substances, poison gases, and even radiation that are designed to make life inhospitable (save for the Skaven). Whereas Nurgle seeks to keep some sort of ecosystem and relative biodiversity with his plagues.
I've contemplated this stuff more than I should have, and appreciate this viewpoint.

@@lokensicarius9347 I strongly believe, because it seemed hinted that the Great Horned Rat is a sort of God Of Chaos Undivided. It represents all of them in some manner, while being it’s own entity.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Age of Sigmar recognizes him as the fifth Chaos God. Which honestly I think is a good change, because for all intents and purposes, it’s what he is.
In my own head-canon, the Great Horned Rat was originally a lesser recognized Old One. One that wanted to rise above his peers and take control of the project himself. So what did he do? Collapse the polar gates and then absorb the sudden magical energies from the Ruinous Powers. However, he got trapped in the Realms Of Chaos in the process, but was now strong enough carve out his own realm, feed off the “scraps” of the other four, and even influence the realms beyond by creating the Skaven race.

Was going to make this comment, but you beat me to it.. He's gotta love them. And you gotta wonder, them spreading the plagues & what-not, has to be giving more power to Nurgle. Then again, look at it this way, In the real world, rats carry disease and all that.. The great Horned Rat, is probably like a lower demon that Nurgle sends out, for the front. The Skaven definitely fall into the whole theme of Nurgle.
Would appreciate there deeds but dislike them for all the power that they give to the great horned rat instead of him. That's allot of power going to a powerful rival that could even overcome him given time

Clan pestulins is a tricky campaign to play with but it can be fun once you master-succeed in playing it. Yes-yes. Personally I prefer moulder pet-beasts.

It’s honestly kinda disappointing that Clan Pestilence wasn’t a DLC Faction in Warhammer 2, because I feel they’re lacking a lot of flavorful mechanics that the other Skaven great clans got with their Subfactions, hopefully when Warhammer 3 gets its version of Mortal Empire Pestilence will all get the plague crafting mechanics from Nurgle.

I would imagine Nurgle hating the Horn Rat and his Skavens with all of Nurgle's rotten heart. Because as another commentor said, Nurgle loves life. Nurgle does not want to destroy all life, but rather nurture it through diseases. That's why Nurgle's kingdom is just one big garden. Skavens on the other hand just want to destroy. They do not care about how their enemies died, just that they dead. Diseases and poison is just a means to an end for Skavens, which contradict Nurgle as diseases such as bacteria and viruses are a way of life for Nurgle.

aaaaaaaaahhhh miss information, Skrolk is A plague lord of clan pestilence in particular he's the lord of their campaign in Lustria. Arch-Plaguelord Nurglitch is the leader of all clan pestilence, also hes why Skrolk is blind. For upon seeing Arch-Plaguelord Nurglitch in all of his diseased form Skrolk clawed out his own eyes so that the last thing he would ever see is Nurglitch's perfect form . shame on you guys SHAAAAAAAAAAAAME!!!!!!! i come to you guys for lore i should have to be correcting you, the true leaders of all skaven never go into battle. they are too important for that.
also all of the members of the council of thirteen are unknown in their age cause they use drugs and magic to keep themselves alive way beyond that of any normal lord.
14.50 aahhhhh you clam that over population is why the skaven spread through out the world, not true. it was a massive explosion by clan skryre that nearly wiped out most of their numbers that cause the migration. after that the council of thirteen, not knowing that Skryre was responsible, decided that it was unwise to keep most of their people in one place. this was when they demanded all clans to find their own cities so that the council would be safe. although from my knowledge Skryre does still live in skavenblight.
22:50 you mentioned this a few times i think but this was when i caught it, you said that the Lords of Decay were at war with the Council of Thirteen. aahhh those are the same people the thirteen members of the Council are also known as the Lords of the Decay. and with all things skaven the major reason for this Civil war (which was the second.) was cause the Gray seers who at the time were the only skaven known to use magic were threated by the fact that the Plaguelords could also use magic and offered it to anyone who would join them. though even among skaven clan pestilence is considered nuts, but again it was a rivaling religion among the skaven and at the time the Grey seers were the only recognized religion among the skaven.
also sorry this one is just a bit nit picky but clan eshin didn't swear loyalty but demand a seat on the Council if they could end the Civil war. Skaven never swear loyalty to anyone cause they don't have much of a concept of loyalty. all skaven serve the skaven above them cause of fear, and even the Council members are always trying to be killed by either other members or the members of their own clans so that they can take their spot as clan leader. each member of the Council is also the head of a particular clan with the exception of the two seats for the Gray seers, one for their clan itself and the thirteen chair that is represented by the Great horned rat himself which is used by the gray seers as well as the official voice of the great horned rat. sorry for the rant i just love lore and skaven lore in particular.

The difference is that Nurgle sees disease and decay as an end in and of itself, while Clan Pestilens sees it more as a weapon, the hate of their god given form.
Nurgle is The God of life and decay. He shows his love by giving away disease.
Clan Pestilens uses it as a weapon and they really hate people

Saying a skaven clan is terrifying is stating the obvious but which is truly the most horrible? Maybe there should be a video comparing the Lords of decay and there clans, to see who is best most worthy of the horned ones favour.
I’d say easily moulder because you might not even die if they catch you alive, being a slave to skaven is one things but being cut apart or turned into some horrible monster in constant pain is another.

@@TTheHuman I think lord skrolk is hairless because of his many dips in a diseased cocktail meant to prove he trusts the horned rat will protect him from the many diseases in the vat. He has taken many of these dips along with other plague monks which may explain how ancient he is.
From what i've read, skaven have few if any compunctions about killing or betraying their brood brothers.
If skaven has not betray-killed lowly rivals by this point, skaven is not smart-brain genius, and is likely already gnawed-bone corpse-meat. Yes-yes.
there's a skaven proverb. Two brood brothers were being chased by a troll, one said "what'll we do? we'll never outrun it!" the other said, "We don't have to outrun it!" The latter proceeds to trip the other "I just have to outrun you!" skaven society is based upon the precept of devil takes the hindmost and the strongest/smartest/most devious rule
The only exception to that rule is clan Mors, they have more loyalty to their leaders than other clans.
If you have to kill 10 allies to kill 1 enemy, thats a good trade in the skavens book xD

The story goes that clan pestulins broke out In a mass exodus from lustria. They made a b line for the coast to escape to the south lands. It was a war in itself just to accomplish this. At the hight of the fighting the prophesied lizardmen God, sotek arose from the volcano on the serpents island and pursued clan pestulins into the sea all the way to the south lands where he delved into the earth and hunts the skaven to this day.

The Horned Rat dips into every chaos gods domain.
The Horned Rat is likely a sort of “Chaos Undivided” God…or perhaps one that feeds on that “scraps” of all their domains.
Just like the other gods, he has his own agenda. Unlike the others, he’s seems to have a broader end-goal.

This is something I believe myself, that the Great Horned Rat is a Chaos God that feeds off the others like a rat in the shadows. He’s taking bits and pieces of them to empower himself. Plagues, Bloodlust, Magic, and Desire.
Alternatively and perhaps additionally, I hypothesize that the Great Horned Rat used to be one of the Old Ones too. Maybe a lesser, forgotten one.
(Then again, I think the Old Ones perhaps turned into the various gods of the world.)
Ever wondered how or why the polar gates came crumbling down and the Old Ones fled? Or the fact Warpstone exists in great quantities?
What if one of their number wanted to take control of the Warhammer world for himself, while amassing greater power? So he collapsed the gates and empowered himself with the mutating energies of Chaos? What if that one became the Great Horned Rat and raised the Skaven as his “chosen” race? A sort of foil to the Lizardmen.
IMHO, it would tie-in nicely with the long-standing rivalry between the Lizardmen and Skaven.
Slaneesh? Well, the Skaven's rat wave tactics suggest they are quite good at making little ratlings.

When I was creating lure for my own Homebrew tabletop skaven I depicted the battle between clan weretooths and clan pestilence where two armies of the clans wiped each other out fighting over a subterranean fortress where one would infect them with disease the other would affect the other with a were disease the weretooths would turn clan pestilence into wererats and they would turn on their own clan and clan pestilence would infect them with a purple fever disease which would turn their skin purple and rubbery and it would fall off

You should do a music video for the skaven!!! Have "Hells Bells" playing by AC/DC while getting pov videos from vermintide 2! That be dope AF. Giant rat ogre sounding the bell, video panning across the dead and ovverun cities of the empire, swarms of rats and ratmen, then through the fire and smoke four Uber heroes arrive as they make light work of the skaven and in between they get their banter in.

@@TheBookofChoyer oh thank goodness that's actually a really good relief I'm actually trying to get the RTX 3080 Ti myself I just hope it'll still look good on Warhammer 3 just like Warhammer 2 but it should still look just as good graphics right or do we just have to wait and find out?

The Horned Rat is actually just a hand puppet of Nurgle that he would use to make his grandchildren laugh, one day he misplaced it and now humanity has this to deal with.
I'm curious as to what Nurgle would think of this particular clan of Skaven. They worship plague and disease but throw their worship onto the Great Horned Rat which to my knowledge the chaos gods hold as anathema.
I'm pretty sure it's heavily implied if not outright stated that the great horned rat IS nurgle, just a skaven flavored version. Similar to how the same gods on the good side of the pantheon have different names from the different races. Although, considering both Warhammer universes are places where new deities are created just because enough people decide that one exists, it might be a distinct being after all.

Their campaign sucks in mortal empires you cant even dominate youre home region cause the one island is unplesant for them.that lokir starts at,you get butt plowed from dwarfs and gor rok and itza is at the start well garrisoned so you cant blitzkrieg and till you get any decent units everyone else has better..despite you starting south with only 3 directions to go i feel you should be able to get basic plague monks at tge start or nerf itza's garrison at the begining of game

Just a personal opinion but I don't think the soundtrack matches this race/video at all. It sounds really futuristic.

I kind of wish there they make a little cool figurines of the scavens not like figurines like actual moving characters like you can move around switch their body lens and such actually like to have one as a skaven

Pestilens perfects - and really actually IS - biological warfare. Save for Nurgle, they wield the deadliest diseases in existence at the detriment of all others, including other Skaven. I know that the Great Clans are supposed to represent the Horned Rat in various guises and Clan Pestilens embodies the pestilential, plague-induced horror of disease!
