Hello, i apologise if this is a bizarre question I have the Alpinestars Sp-8 V3 and large size works very well for me My question is, would Alpinestars Sp-2 V3 , which has an added palm slider , fit for me in size Large too? I can unfortunately not test the sp-2 v3 hence i am asking here because i believe it has more or less the same sizings I know the problem is within the wrist for your case but what about the interior once you fit into it? Thank you.
Hi, not a bizarre question at all! The SP8 and SP2 have pretty much the exact same fit in the interior, its only the wrist strap that I found to fit poorly. I'm not sure if they're consistently getting the wrist strap wrong for all sizes on the SP2? Or maybe they just got lazy and used the same wrist strap for all sizes, in which case you might not have the same problem since you're size L? One thing to consider if you're switching from the SP8 to the SP2 for the added protection of the palm slider... the SP2 has a lot more textile and less leather which might make the overall construction weaker, so there's a bit of a trade off and its up to you to decide if its worth it. I hope that helps!
do you think the problem with the straps is your particular case, due to your small wrists? Do you think the palm slider is a must have? Thanks for making this video man, it's taking me weeks to decide which glove between these two buy hahahaha
I don't think so because both the SP8 and SP2 were size small, and the SP8 strap fit me perfectly while the SP2 strap was *WAYYYY* too big! (Imo it was a design flaw from Alpinestars) The best advice I can give is find a shop with a good returns policy and buy both to try them and return the other one (Sportsbike Shop is really good for this in the UK). Looking at the specs online I like the SP2 more but trying it in person the SP8 fits 10x better for me. I have been dailying the SP8s for a almost month now and Im really loving them.
The SP2 has a hard palm slider (to help your hand slide better if you fall) and more ventilation from all the textile it uses. The SP8 has soft palm padding and more leather but less ventilation. Its up to you to decide which of those is a better deal for you. Personally I felt even if the SP2 fit it was a little too much textile for me and I felt safer with the SP8 which use much more leather.
It has "Abrasion-resistant Arshield palm sliders", whatever that might mean. It feels like a fairly tough bit of kevlar with some foam padding underneath, but 100% I would have preferred a plastic TPU palm slider. I still really like the SP8 overall and now daily it despite the fact it doesn't have a proper palm slider. The SP2 seem nice on paper but that problem with the wrist strap meant they wouldn't be safe. If the palm slider is important to you look at the Alpinestars GP Pro/ GP Plus/ GP Tech, but these are far more expensive (£200-£300)! If you want something at a similar price point (£100), and don't care about it being Alpinestars, I would recommend the Oxofrd Nexus 1.0 or the RST TracTech Evo 4 (both have palm sliders and really good all round protection). I have a video review on the Oxford Nexus 1.0 and I am going to release a review of the RST TracTech Evo 4 pretty soon.

Im glad you found the video helpful. I've been dailying the sp8 for a month now and have found them to be great!

So if I can tighten the sp2, they are better?

im worried that they dont have the pamls slider
