McDavid seeing 8 legs judging their body language speed and knowing he can make that rush to throw them all off balance, then working the puck through them all and ultimately scoring on the 5th player aka the goaltender who got to take his read in it? This was insane.
We kept our 4 year old son up to watch this. We werent going to miss the comeback. This goal from McDavid was just the icing on the cake. My hometown born, raised and never left. Keep playing like this boys and magic can happen. Congrats to Lowe on his number retirement and HOF induction. Well deserved. Go Oilers Go.
I saw the New Years Eve game in 2019 it was so electrifying! Tonight’s game was in a world of its own! On top of Kevin Lowe retiring his jersey. It just gets better and better!
The only other Oilers ones that compete with this one is the 1988 Gretzky slapper against Mike Vernon and the Marchant 1997 Game 7 OT goal against Andy Moog.

I'm with you for the most part, but he's still a few steps behind the big 2/3 there. He's above Crosby, in a tight group with guys like Yzerman, Sakic, Rocket, Howe etc well behind Mario and Gretzky but ahead of everyone else to ever play the game (Orr and goalies go in a different category for obvious reasons)

Mario is almost 300 pts better than McDavid in the same time frame and started at 19 and played on a last place team for 6 yrs. And we haven't talked about Gretzky still. You can take 200 pts away from Mario for era adjustment and he would still be 80-100 pts better than Connor. It makes no sense.
The puck was in New York's zone and Mcdavid took the puck off-sides, turned around and did that. Just absolute insane hockey IQ and skill to pull that off.

What!? Did I just see what I think I saw? How can one professional player be on such a higher level than all the other professional players. This is the top of the echelon of hockey players, he skates around like he's playing with kids. That was awesome. I sincerely hope Edmonton can make some real noise come playoff time. I'm with you for the most part, but he's still a few steps behind the big 2/3 there. He's above Crosby, in a tight group with guys like Yzerman, Sakic, Rocket, Howe etc well behind Mario and Gretzky but ahead of everyone else to ever play the game (Orr and goalies go in a different category for obvious reasons)
@@rigafraction1653 Sorry but to say McDavid isn't as good as Gretzky/Lemieux is fals. 80s to mid 90s hockey, defense was trash and goalies were practically cardboard cutouts.
@@gingerharrison1949 Well, McDavid is about 15 pts better than Crosby in the same time frame but miles behind the big 2. Mario is almost 300 pts better than McDavid in the same time frame and started at 19 and played on a last place team for 6 yrs. And we haven't talked about Gretzky still. You can take 200 pts away from Mario for era adjustment and he would still be 80-100 pts better than Connor. It makes no sense.

The puck was in New York's zone and Mcdavid took the puck off-sides, turned around and did that. Just absolute insane hockey IQ and skill to pull that off.

Montreal was built on their superiority complex, they thought in their minds they were better than all the other Teams, their announcers were spouting it for years and years. Who could forget it! Now Montreal is still doing bad publicity stunts to get it's fans jacked up with emotion, yet another Montreal stunt for attention. if there's one team in the NHL who has gone through the most good players, using them in Manage ment, nobody does it worse than Momtreal. Then when they fired Therrian for some dirty deeds he was doing at work, they got Gary Bettman to steal Claude Julian away from Boston, to give to the whiny Habs because Julian could speak both languages which we all know Montreal has to have, they just Can't get by with a Coach from any other language, its always about Montreal being more Special, and getting Special attention.
