for anyone watching this even now like i just did also... the malboro wand with the extra debuffing DOES NOT affect your death success rate at all. The way to improve death's success rate is by adding debuffs to the monster like deprotect, curse, deshell, etc. Death has a success rate of 1% base, with vanille alone, you can get 3 debuffs on an adamantoise, bringing it to a 4% chance for success. if fang pitches in as well after the eidolon goes away, she can get another 3 debuffs on the adamantoise, brining it to a 7% success rate :) good luck to any FFXIII fans still playing this amazing game like i am :)
You know that if you do this with a Kain's Lance made from a Gae Bolg you get three Trapezohedrons, and 36 Moonblossom seeds, in addition to 71 Gargantuan Claws, 10 Tears of Woe, and 60 Supple Leathers.
@SportsNation730 Whistlewind Scarf can be bought from the shop. Aurora Scarf is what you get when you combined Rhodochrosite with a maxed out Whistlewind Scarf. This pretty much gives you a maxed out ATB Gauge at the beginning of a battle every time. Mission 24 is on the Fifth Floor inside Taejin's Tower. I get the mission done under 25 seconds. You re-run mission and it's quick since the mark is right next to the stone. 12000CP + Moonblossom seed sells for 6000Gil.
Nicely explained. I personally use SAB/SAB/SYN, and dismiss the Eidolon right away. The debuffs from the second SAB reportedly increase the success rate of Death, and the Synergist should be able to give Vanille Haste and Vigilance. (Vigilance apparently increases the success rate of Death too). If he stands up, I retry. Thanks for the weapon upgrade info.
@MinimeDrummerBoi Traps only sell for 10k gil. They allowed you to dismantle weapons to make farming for the rare item easier, but you still need all the gil to upgrade. Essentially, while farming the gil to do the dismantle, your bound to get a Trap which makes the dismantle process void. The dismantle is there for the unlucky
@finalfan190 You can buy all the experience pieces from the shops, yes. The original Bladed Lance is from the "Up In Arms" store (I think), the Conductors are from the Lonore's, and the Accelerators and Reactors are from the R&D Shop
this reli helped me cos i've leveled up ALL the 2nd tier weapons to star level and no matter how many times i kill these things all i get is ingots or nothin even conn and collector catalogs just goes to show that patience is vital
@RP88888 The lowest level Mark Mission that gives Conductors is mission 17 in the Archylte Steppe - Northern Highplain. Mission 31 is the next lowest. A Gold Nugget is a secondary reward from mission 63, but it's easier to just get them from the chests
I had no idea I could just spam death until it hit. I am going to try that right now. All I need is ONE trap, then I can start duping them with the Kain's Lance method. Thx for the vid.
@SportsNation730 Doesn't matter. Both Blastoises (in Gran Pulse and Eden) have a standard 1% drop rate - which increases based on combat performance and accessory modifiers. So, doesn't matter where you farm just that you're killing Adamantoise (tusks), not Adamantortoise (no tusks)
I had to come here in false hopes that watching you get some traps, might help me turn on my xbox again to play this horrid farm fest again. After 30 more adamants and no drops I shall be back on here again!
Hey good strategy. This has helped me a lot to get Ingots. Also the upgrading and dismantling thing worked like a charm. And even if the death spell doesn't work, it's a good way to stagger him up so you can chop him down. A thing that helped me is when casting death, as soon as it hits, switch to the paradigm you want so you don't have to go through that annoying pose stuff.
@seanrandalmc Both weapons are found in Ch. 12 The Lionhart can be found on the Grand Prix Circuit (where you are after the cutscene). Run straight ahead until you see a wall, the chest is behind the wall and you should be able to see it from where you are. The wall is before the circle platform with the mech fight. The Punisher is in the Rumah Interchange (just after the Expressway and Circuit Track) directly after you kill the turtle, before you reach the Humbaba.
@iCantSay - The amount of each item you get increases as the item's level increases. If you dismantled a basic Kain's Lance, you'd get one or no Traps, so you'd lose money overall. Generally, it's only worthwhile dismantling *-level gear; for anything lower, you may as well just sell the weapon or accessory. That said, in most cases you'll spend more upgrading the weapon from Lv.1 than you'd get for dismantling it. Airmil123's video demonstrates a rare exception.
@Garudanime Reactors are bought from the R&D Depot from the shop menu (found at Save Stations). The R&D Depot shop is a reward from completing Mission 7(?) of the Ce'ith Stones on Gran Pulse. Mission 7 may not be correct, though it is one of the lower missions. I'm in my lab right now and don't have the guide in front of me.
Lol I find it funny that the rate of killing this thing with death is higher than getting the damned Traps...at least that's how it's been for me. I've killed this thing using this strat so many times, and I wonder if I keep resetting every time I don't see a Trap; if that's going to help any.
@jrconjux Treasure hunter means, you have owned it "Once" it does NOT need to be physically in the party when you (HUGE SPOILER) speak to Bahkti after you think you've owned every item once.
@TerrarumRaven Do you use Fang? If she casts Curse on the Neochu, it greatly increases the success rate of Death. The Malboro Wand also does too. If you don't have the Malboro Wand, it is tier 2, upgraded from Belladonna Wand, available at Plautus's Workshop. It's catalyst is Scarletite, which drops from Sacrifice at Orphan's Cradle Tessaracts pretty often.
He has, and so have I. The route he uses has you kill 3 packs to get your TP back, using Fang's ultimate weapon with TP gauge on it. The packs take 20-30 seconds each, and after 3 you have all the TP you need to reset and try again so long as you have the Aurora Sash on. It's really not that bad using death on them, it normally will die before it's able to stand back up after you take out it's legs with her Eidolon, and if it doesnt you just hit start and retry it.
If you can kill the blastoise quickly the right way (not using Death) then by all means. This was just a quick guide for how I run this route. My average time in killing the turtle is 2 minutes 19 seconds. I have killed hundreds and hundreds of them, therefore, I have found Death to be the most productive method. Keep in mind that I have Vanille with a maxed ultimate weapon and the Improved Debuffing II really helps for this method.
@R3b3lAp3 - Vanille learns Death at Stage 9 of her Crystarium. She's the only one who gets that spell. The weapon (Belladonna Wand / Malboro Wand / Nirvana) has an "Improved Debuffing" attribute; as the author mentioned, Death has a base success rate of 1% (plus 1% for each add'l debuff on the target), so it's hard to tell if having that staff helps, but it's a very useful weapon either way.
A tip on the Vanille Death spam for the Adamontoise. The SYN Vigilance buff makes Death have a better hit ratio. Also I use the BOOST Synthesis group to get more casts in. Herme's Sandals, Sprint Shoes, Wistlewind Scarf, etc. to get +20% faster ATB recharge on top of Haste. (More casts more success) Also, I Dismantle Nirvana for 3 Trap's.
For people who want to know how much exp you need to reach the next level you need to know the base exp and the increment exp. for example the bladed lance requires 300xp to get to lvl 2, 357xp to get to lvl 3, so the increment is 57. lvl1 to 2: 300 lvl 2 to 3: 300 + 357 = 657 lvl 3 to 4: 657 + 300 + 57 + 57 = 1071 lvl 4 to 5: 1071 + 300 + 57 + 57 + 57 = 1542 etc.etc. trust me it works
Nevermind they can and I noticed that Clay Ring and Earth Charm equiped on Vanille help if they do get the stomp move on u cause it's earth based attack. EarthRing: Occas. Absorbs earth dmg as hp Clay Ring: Incease earth resistance by 30% if stared
I have fought it 112 times, killed it 72 times, achieved 15 ingots and i have yet to see a Trapezohedron. Going kill it another 15 times (that means fighting it around 25+ since death does not always work) if i dont get a Trapz i will buy it instead, my game time is 100:23:06 and still going up, I maxed out everything in the game before even finishing chapter 13 (excluding the weapons cuz of Trapz) Trapz are fucking ridiculous.
@AMPBrian Dunno, can you? I only went with what I know, took some advice from the comment here, and made v2 with the Dragoon Lance. If you can use 32 Shells, by all means. They are only used to get the x3 bonus, so feel free to use whatever to get to that x3. It won;t change the math for the Reactors/Accels/Conductors.
@ramennoodelz you don't have to be in Eden, Pulse works, I just found it easier to gain TP in Eden. Sure, there are ways to kill the Turtles without using the Eidolon, in which case Pulse may be better, but I didn't do that in these vids
@DHGcontended To close my comment. What I meant to say at the end, was that it seems pointless to have levels if you just start out at some higher number than level 1. I mean, why not just call the level you start at level 1, and have it max out earlier? The experience could still work out the same, the level numbers would just make more sense.
Just wanted to say you did a very good job with this video, and explaining things as you went. Also, SOOOO glad to find someone else who thinks FFVIII is the best in the series!
I've been doing this before even watching any vids, I was doing it to farm up CP, since I got growth egg early on. 80k CP every kill and takes around 3 - 5 minutes. I also somehow got two Trap drops in around 20 kills which was insane!
That's why I made the video though. To get every ultimate weapon you needs 6 Traps. Using this, you only need one Trap. The gil and CP are easy to get.
@TerrarumRaven You don't need two medics if you have a sentinel present. Try using the Paradigm Attrition, Vanille as SAB spamming death, Hope as MED healing Fang, and Fang as SEN drawing the attention of the tiny Neochus and the Neochu itself. Be sure to use a Fortisol and an Aegisol before entering the fight with Neochu. If you don't have any, Eden Pharmaceuticals sells each for like 12k a piece.
@DHGcontended What I meant by the strategy is the one the video outlines. The idea ov dismantling weapons to get Trapezohedrons. I'd welcome, with open arms, the infinite digging glitch with the chocobo.
When you use the sturdy bones, sometimes it will go to the x3 multiplier if you add 35 instead of 36. I think its every 6 cycles of using sturdy bones. I figure it would save you a couple thousand gil
once you get sick of farming for trapezohedrons, if you have a spare genji glove that you dont use you can upgrade it to star lvl and then dismantle it to get a trapezohedron and a tear of woe (dont care about that though haha) hope this helps.however i wouldn't suggest you do it to more than one genji glove as you can only get three and you should have 2 for your main damage dealers.
i have tried this and it worked pretty well for me : - unlocked the long guis. - killed them for trapozehedrons. optional - not strong ? use cheap poison methods + summon easy ! each trapozehedron has around 30% to drop. i got 2 with , like , 6 kills
@Dkbiggs81 EVERY weapon requires a different amount of exp in order to level up. Doing this on a different weapon may yield different results (not level up enough or use up extra exp and gil). Also, everything dismantles into different items or amounts of items.
@seanrandalmc I have changed my group up slightly since the video since I have maxed everyone's roles out. I use Lightning's Lionhart ultimate, Fang's Punisher ultimate, and Vanille's Marlboro ultimate.
GUESS WHAT! I figured out the perfect strategy for farming those! This is the earliest possible and absolute easiest method. Here is what you do get Lightning Ultima Weapon (Fast Stagger), Vanille Marbora Wand Maxed (Improved Chance of Death Hitting) Use 1 single paradigm, Assasination. You want vanille as saboteur and lightning as ravager. I had fang as sabotuer but that doesn't matter unless she has imperil. If she doesn't just use any other character as ravager.
btw, the only weapons you can get 3 traps are all of fang's weapons EXCEPT bladed lance, and partisan; and you can get 3 traps from vanilles tigerclaw, healers staff, belladonna wand, and as mentioned before, the mistilteinn. And no i didnt do all of these in the game, i jus did some research and bought the guide.
If you upgrade the Pandorian Spear to Kain Lance (star level) , and then dismantle it youll get 3 Trapezohedron´s insted of 2. O and thanks for doing this video n.n
@BobbyLeshinski Nope, Long Gui appears when you complete missions 56 to 62 (that "weather ring" or something on the northeastern part of the Archylte Steppe, near the entrance to the path that leads you to the Faultwarrens). It'll replace the Adamantortoise and Adamanchelid (or another turtles, I don't remember who were there) on the Eastern Torns of the Archylte Steppe (Near from where you fight the Gigantuar -giant cactuar lol-)
@Spright0 I have looked for other ways, but the only way I know how to get a Trap is to kill an Adamantoise, which is only a 1% drop before using the catalog. The only other way is to already have a Trap and then follow this guide.
@deadsamurhai The math in this video is only for the specified weapon. While you can do this type of thing for each weapon, they will yield different results (items received) and require a different combination of materials.
@angelsakurao death is a low chance spell. the base chance is 1%. to make the base chance higher. you need vigilance on vanille, curse on target if not immune, another saboteur, belladonna wand or it's upgrades, number of debuffs (each debuff increases the chance by 1%) and vanille's and the other saboteur's sab level. If all that is done, death can be like any other ordinary debuff that will often be successful and slay the target instantly. btw the recommended saboteur campanion is fang ok?
I found on another guide that doing that to Vanille's weapon Mistilteinn it can wield you 3 Traps instead of two, but it costs 1,507,400 gil plus that trap to do it
@xXDarkAce93Xx Like most have said, you can dismantle a Genji Glove in order to get your first Trap. I chose the catalog method because there are a finite number of Gloves in the game and dismantling is a permanent decision
thanks! I'm assuming that to redo the whole Kain's Lance would take about that much again out of you, right? I've always been way too lazy to figure out efficiency in maxing out my weapons but here you've gone and done it! Will be trying this tomorrow.
Anyone whos wondering about death spam, if youd like to use that as your start point, the best way to do it is this. upgrade vanille's belladonna wand to malboro wand and equip it get vanille, sazh and fang in party setup SAB/SYN/SAB set this as your primary paradigm Start the battle and summon your eidolon click through everything, and have it use its ultimate spam death on the turtle whilst your allies buff you and debuff the turtle, this increases deaths chance of working.
Do you use Fang's Banescissor spear? It has stagger: tp 2 and also if you use lightning and her ultima weapon/omega weapon with a energy sash, champion badge, and a hunter's friend she gets some really cool tp helpers.
@UltimaChaos29 With the low drop rates of Traps, as well as their high cost, the 'easiest' way I've found to get 'mass' quantities of them is this: by farming up money and dismantling weapons which yield one or more Traps all for a cost that is cheaper than just buying one Trap.
If I say that I have dedicated 30 hours to nothing but this route (which I've probably spent more, but for this sake): mathematically, on a 5 minute total run - 3:45 for the TP run, 1:15 for the tortoise, the most I could have possibly killed is 360 adamantoise. Now we all can agree that no one will ever get it on the first try everytime, so realistically, the most is 300. Now, I have been lucky in my kills there's no denying but I have killed that many (200-300)
Sturdy bones, barbed tails and vibrant ooze all have the same stats/cost for upgrading, so if you buy 72 of each you don't have to exit the screen so often. Tigerclaw, Healer's Staff, Mistilteinn, Belladonna Wand, Dragoon Lance, Shamanic Spear, Punisher, Pandoran Spear, or Gae Bolg all dismantle into 3x traps instead of 2 for not too much more in components. Also if your doing it for the treasure hunter trophy its better to just farm the traps, because you need the gil for ugrading items
@Noiraven1 I got a Trap after my 6th kill. My second Trap from a Toise came after my 142nd kill. My third was the 178th kill, and the fourth was my 406th kill. Needless to say, I got the majority of my Traps from upgrading and dismantling ultimate weapons
@BobbyLeshinski I think Connoisseur Catalog's effect doesn't stack ... So, basically you only need one... And I've read that CC doesn't work with Adamantoise, so it's drop rate for traps even with the CC equipped is still 5%... With Long Gui, it raises from 25% to 27,5% though... That's what I've read, I don't know if it's true or not. I've never gotten a trap for killing an Adamantoise, btw. : /
@quad123 Every weapon requires a different amount of XP to level. So while you will use the same "ingredients" to level every weapon, the combination of those items will be different.
Max Role LVL 5 helps build the chain gauge toward stagger faster. I didn't have it though. I managed to kill it within 3 tries by debuffing and fast staggering. This strategy is soo fast that you get about 3 chances to death it while its staggered. That's the key point. Don't depurpose death by trying to buff yourself. Think only about what effects death the most. In other words chance to hit.
If you give Fang the Venus Gospel or Taming Pole and 3 Speed Sashes, you can get TP for Hecatoncheir much faster. only takes one or two battles with the soldiers to get 3 bars.
@lightfire060 The Blastoise name shall catch on!!! The drop rate varies depending on what accessories are equipped and others have said differently, however I checked the Guide this morning, and for a Blastoise in Eden Plaza (ie the one is this video) the drop rate of a Trap is indeed 1% with no other external buffs. Equip a Conn catalog asap if you have one or upgrade to one right away. It does make a difference in my experience.
@Haijinmon the traps only sell for 10,000…usually whatever price you can buy something for is twice what you can sell it for but not in this case..i was blown too cause i was gonna use the extra trap to sell and max out another weapon
@Noiraven1 OBJECTION- also to the maker of this video!!!! lolz heres why: if u use 1 of so many components you should get x2 and then deal with the x2 EXP "Why?" because you use less gil buy all the components and u get 3 trapezohedron. Thank you ^^
@Spright0 Yeah, that a long story that involves me being entirely stupid. I have it now and it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I captured a video of me getting it but wasn't going to post it because the battle was so quick now that I'm so high in levels. If people want to see it though, I'll post it
Thank you so much for this, it's so helpful. Do you just get lucky with Death? Because mine NEVER works. It doesn't matter how much I try. =[ I have the same set up and everything too.
The Malboro Wand has the same "Improved Debuffing II" and Nirvana does, right? I haven't quite gotten there yet, I'm still training on Behemoth Kings fighting the Megistotherian.
@IzuraKira okay... there are baby adamantoises that are extremely easy to kill.. then there are the big ones where it's like one stomp and you're dead (the ones with the horns coming out of their noses).. now which ones are the long gui?? b/c i though the long gui and the huge horned adamantoises were the same things.. no??
Hey Dkbiggs81 , i havent done the maths jet , and i think its just a little more of components you use , but if you compare it with the time you use to get another Trapezohedron is worth it
@SimplyBlue86 I did not know this. Also I find TP Raising Items (Energy Sash, Champions Belt) to help for getting the 3 TP needed to summon Hector or w/e his name is...
The rating and time effects the outcome as well. When I was farming for Gold Nuggets from the Shoalong Guis I kept getting Dark Matter, which is supposed to be a rare-drop. But since I was killing the things in under 2mins, it seemed to give me more Dark Matters instead... which was a nuisance cos I wanted Gold Nuggets for the money.
Manually use deshell and imperil 5 times each. Then death death death. You will notice that every few battles you will successfully death it in eden hall after its staggered. So to recap. Assasination or extra ravager. (Fast Stagger) (Improved Debuffing II) (Manually Deshell + Imperil with Vannille) (Death Repeatedly) = Favourable rate of Success. I got a trapezohydron after killing it twice which only took 6 battles total! Make sure you have the catalogs on your 3rd character of your choice.
@thenickpandoshow1 the 6th ATB gauge comes from the ultimate weapons. I can't find in the guide where you actually unlock R&D Depot, but I'm fairly positive its past Ch.9
@DHGcontended I'll look more into that next time I upgrade a weapon. A quick save will make it clear. Save, upgrade by blasting WAY to much into the weapon first, and once again by doing just enough to get the upgrade. As for now, I'm just happy to have gotten my catalyst needed for the ultimate weapons. I stumbled upon this while trying to see if there was another way to get them besides buying or getting them as a drop... honestly this strat. is in the guide, but it should definitely be seen
I have discovered that if you equip both catalog and connosseur catalogs on all your party members u have a great chance for the adamantoise to drop a trapezehedron. I manage to earn 7 trapezehedrons in 50 kills. thats 14 % drop of trapezehedrons. Thats the first time i have got so many traps so little time. Dont know if i was lucky or not, but the traps kept on rolling in.
@airmil123 Do the Trap's still sell for 2 mil.? If so, once you dismantle the Dragon Lance and gain those 3 Traps, you pretty much just use one of those Traps and repeat the process on the Dragon Lance to gain an addition of 2 Traps I'm assuming (not sure if you did it in V.2 since I have yet to watch it). I'm currently just Gil farming on Mission 24 with Aurora Scarf + Whistle Scarf setups for quick attacks. By the way, do you know how to attain Connisseur Catalog?
@levintine777 Buy them from R&D Depot (complete mission 7). The stone for mission 7 can be found at some ruins at the far end of Gran Pulse. Also, if u fix up Botti in Fang and Vanille's village, he gets u 2 free ones.
if your trying to get shrouds they're drops are opposite on how many stars you get at the end of the battle. Meaning getting 0-1 stars give you over a 10% chance for shrouds with survivalist catalog and getting 4-5 stars will not give you any shrouds
I use com/com/sab. Vanille as my sabotuer, I also have the aurora scarf on vanille which allows an automatic first strike, so as a sabotuer the first thing she does is cast deprotect on one of them, then snow and fang can kill them all within three hits each. Give it a shot and see if it works for ya!
3/8 is an average number compiled from all the data collected. For the number to be 3/8, someone has to get very unlucky & get 0/8 while someone had to be very lucky and get 8/8. Sure, more people will see the lower range of successes, but there are those who see the higher range. I'm not saying my way is perfect, nor is there a specific right way. I can tell you that I've probably killed between 200-300 since beating Orphan. I literally have not zoned anywhere else but EdenHall since then
@libraman187 you can try getting a conneisour catalog but that doesn't improve it that much. It is just luck just keep killing and you WILL get it. When you do use vanille's belladonna wand not fang's weapon it growths 3 trapezedhedrons instead of 2
Cool! So technically if you have the right amount of gil and components to start with you can keep dismantling Fangs Kain's lance for double Traps? Provided buying the new blade lances each time :)? Great Vid and commentary too!
"big fan of.................EIGHT" yes! FINALLY. Not 7. Not saying FFVII was bad, but I'm starting to think people are bandwagoning. FFVIII is the most confusing and tactical of all final fantasies, and it's one of my favorites too. That might explain why you're making videos about advanced tactics and strategies on FFXIII. :) Thumbs up for this vid.
Sorry I got that wrong i said it was lvl 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and so on, but it is actually 1 to 2, 1 to 3, 1 to 4 etc. in small the equation for the bladed lance fron lvl 1 to ? is: exp + 300 + (57*current lvl) for each one.
uuh, yeah you could just go to creature comforts and buy a load of 80 gil stuff,I mean if you put 25 or 26 of anything onto your wep the exp multiplier goes up,so just get it to times 3 with 80 gil stuff then put the really expensive stuff that gives you a ton of exp, that way your getting the most out of all your components when upgrading
for anyone watching this even now like i just did also... the malboro wand with the extra debuffing DOES NOT affect your death success rate at all.
Thanks for the tips, I just beat the game yesterday, now I am on post-play, still no luck getting the Trapezohedrons *(sigh)*
Still am right now :)
You know that if you do this with a Kain's Lance made from a Gae Bolg you get three Trapezohedrons, and 36 Moonblossom seeds, in addition to 71 Gargantuan Claws, 10 Tears of Woe, and 60 Supple Leathers.
If you dismantle The Nirvana (Vanilles ultimate weapon) You get 3 Trapezohedrons
@SportsNation730
Whistlewind Scarf can be bought from the shop.
@SimplyBlue86 Not sure on this... but.. if you do this, your TP won't go up and you won't be able to summon again.
Right?
Any tips on gown to get an easy amount of gil without relying on adamantoise dropping a platinum ingot?
The Lionhart can be found on the Grand Prix Circuit (where you are after the cutscene).
For people who want to know how much exp you need to reach the next level you need to know the base exp and the increment exp. for example the bladed lance requires 300xp to get to lvl 2, 357xp to get to lvl 3, so the increment is 57.
lvl1 to 2: 300
lvl 2 to 3: 300 + 357 = 657
lvl 3 to 4: 657 + 300 + 57 + 57 = 1071
lvl 4 to 5: 1071 + 300 + 57 + 57 + 57 = 1542 etc.etc.
trust me it works
@JHgamer101 if you are talking about the one in the description, that is the materials for lvl 1 to lvl 100. It should be everything you'd need
Death is like the cheesiest, least successful, slowest way to get platinum ingots and Trapezohedrons XD
Faster then trying to save up 2,000,000 gill
you can use sazh with his hi-piladeas guns and max it out to level 2 tier and use the summon to kill it everytime
ATTENTION!!!
These weapons will yield 3 Trapezohedrons
Kain's Lance- Dragoon Lance, Shamaniac Spear, Punisher, Pandoran Spear, and Gae Bolg
Nirvana- Tiger Claw, Healer's Staff, Belladona Wand, Mistiltienn
@DHGcontended What I meant by the strategy is the one the video outlines. The idea ov dismantling weapons to get Trapezohedrons.
I'd welcome, with open arms, the infinite digging glitch with the chocobo.
When you use the sturdy bones, sometimes it will go to the x3 multiplier if you add 35 instead of 36. I think its every 6 cycles of using sturdy bones. I figure it would save you a couple thousand gil
once you get sick of farming for trapezohedrons, if you have a spare genji glove that you dont use you can upgrade it to star lvl and then dismantle it to get a trapezohedron and a tear of woe (dont care about that though haha) hope this helps.however i wouldn't suggest you do it to more than one genji glove as you can only get three and you should have 2 for your main damage dealers.
i have tried this and it worked pretty well for me :
- unlocked the long guis.
@BigJoeFro While you do get more traps, your gil return is only about 220k, half of the return of this way.
10 hours in. Still not a single trap. Best game ever
Anyone whos wondering about death spam, if youd like to use that as your start point, the best way to do it is this.
upgrade vanille's belladonna wand to malboro wand and equip it
get vanille, sazh and fang in party
setup SAB/SYN/SAB
set this as your primary paradigm
Start the battle and summon your eidolon
click through everything, and have it use its ultimate
spam death on the turtle whilst your allies buff you and debuff the turtle, this increases deaths chance of working.
@ClearPearl It's the transformation catalyst that makes all the characters ultimate weapons.
If I say that I have dedicated 30 hours to nothing but this route (which I've probably spent more, but for this sake):
mathematically, on a 5 minute total run - 3:45 for the TP run, 1:15 for the tortoise, the most I could have possibly killed is 360 adamantoise.
@SquallArgonar94 you can visit about 90% of the game after beating Ch.13, so yes you can come back
Max Role LVL 5 helps build the chain gauge toward stagger faster.
Thank you ^^
lol I don't blame you for wanting to do any more math, that was beastly! anyways awesome vid! I'll be sure to do this!
I have the same set up and everything too.
The Malboro Wand has the same "Improved Debuffing II" and Nirvana does, right? I haven't quite gotten there yet, I'm still training on Behemoth Kings fighting the Megistotherian.
@IzuraKira
okay... there are baby adamantoises that are extremely easy to kill.. then there are the big ones where it's like one stomp and you're dead (the ones with the horns coming out of their noses).. now which ones are the long gui?? b/c i though the long gui and the huge horned adamantoises were the same things..
But since I was killing the things in under 2mins, it seemed to give me more Dark Matters instead... which was a nuisance cos I wanted Gold Nuggets for the money.
i havent tried it yet, but i read one of a game FAQs that if u maxed out T3 Mistilteinn, you will get 3 trapezahedrons from dismantle...
This is awesome, a very clever way to upgrade all your weapons and accessories! 10/10!
GREAT video!!!! I have been having the same problem... i have not gotten Trapezohedrons and have only gotten 4 ingots... thanks for this video!!
Also, i found it easier to use bahumut for the Adamantoises...
im so happy i got 2 trapezohedrons in like two hours
@airmil123
Do the Trap's still sell for 2 mil.? If so, once you dismantle the Dragon Lance and gain those 3 Traps, you pretty much just use one of those Traps and repeat the process on the Dragon Lance to gain an addition of 2 Traps I'm assuming (not sure if you did it in V.2 since I have yet to watch it).
I'm currently just Gil farming on Mission 24 with Aurora Scarf + Whistle Scarf setups for quick attacks. By the way, do you know how to attain Connisseur Catalog?
@levintine777
Buy them from R&D Depot (complete mission 7). The stone for mission 7 can be found at some ruins at the far end of Gran Pulse. Also, if u fix up Botti in Fang and Vanille's village, he gets u 2 free ones.
@killerducky420 to buy them, you have to have R&D Depot which is a reward from a Ci'eth Stone mission
if your trying to get shrouds they're drops are opposite on how many stars you get at the end of the battle.
When you do use vanille's belladonna wand not fang's weapon it growths 3 trapezedhedrons instead of 2
@airmil123
I see. Thanks for the heads up. No hint on getting Connisseur Catalog?
@EnoxXxon Correct, you do not gain the ability to upgrade items until the later half of the game
Cool! So technically if you have the right amount of gil and components to start with you can keep dismantling Fangs Kain's lance for double Traps? Provided buying the new blade lances each time :)? Great Vid and commentary too!
"big fan of.................EIGHT"
yes! FINALLY.
