    Wow, what a surprise at the end, looks terrific. My floor is pine in the kitchen and red oak dining room. Removed the wall and was just searching the world over to find a way to cut both floor off with a jig, This is an idea worth considering

    Nice. I'm looking to get rid of pony wall (moving the intake for the furnace to an outside wall) and my hardwood also is layed in this way. Really like the idea of one large board filling the gap. Thx for the help!! - Marcia.

    So, since I have tongue and groove red oak unfinished floor boards, I deduced to go that route since I'm poor. It's ok not to use a foam or waterproof paper of some kind underneath the new section. Since I am planning on using glue and pin nails, I may just go without--like you did?, Thanks for your generosity

    My problem now is how to get the straight edge straight? What did you measure off of? I’m measuring from the wall -plumb line? Any suggestions

      Use framing square off the planks on the floor so your inserted planks will be 90° to existing floor.

    how would you handle a scenario where the flooring on one side of where the wall used to be is higher than the other side?

    Hey Dave,
    As you know I had tons of gaps that I filled with wood filler. Do you think I should stain to blend the gap filler color with the red oak or applying straight polyurethane will do be enough?
    I am worried a bit from staining because my edger work was mediocre. There are still marks even after scrapping and sanding with a palm sander unfortunately.

      What stain did you use?

    • @yoyoyoufs
      @yoyoyoufs 3 года назад

      @@HardwoodFloorRefinishing101 i didn't use any stains. I am wondering if I should apply any stain before applying polyurethane since the gap filler's color is lighter than the actual wood and the color difference is obvious.

      @@yoyoyoufs You can use Minwax Red oak stain marker 215 on the filler before appyling urethane.
