- Doc installs cheap real wood floors in the upper rooms of the beach house.
www.howtowithd... The rooms will NOT get a lot of traffic but he wanted the look and feel of real wood floors for the beach house setting. Both rooms were done for less than $700.
wow....that in pine siding/paneling. it will warp like crazy as flooring!
My wife and I were thinking about selling our rental property and buying a beach house. Watching this video is helping pull the trigger.
I love the idea of those planks on the floor. I think it will be perfect for a loft space I have. Thanks for sharing.
Looks great Doc...can’t wait to stay over!!
Looking better and better each video... Keep up the awesome work...
Taking shape..... looking forward to next video
I love the flooring. I would like to do that in my Sons room.
You have my permission
Wood working and Jim Beam! Great combo!
Thanks for the interesting content. I feel like I’m getting advice from an older brother. Stay safe.
You don't use brad nails to nail down a floor. They have zero holding power and the floor will move and squeak. Also, you should have put down some felt or paper underlayment between the subfloor and finished floor.
Yeah, looking great and performing great are 2 different things and I wonder about the longevity of using softwood boards as flooring for the long haul. Agreed that an underlayment would help, especially with squeaking. I'd spend a few extra bucks and go with a decent quality LVP floating floor like Lifeproof instead.
plus you don't put the nail in the middle of the board. it is nailed thru the tongue and at an angle so that the grove will fit into the tongue
Jared is a rockstar with wood renovation
We did a similar wood thing to one of our ceilings. Lots of work but worth it in the long run. Enjoy it as much as possible.
Can't wait to see the final countertop placement. Looks nice for relatively inexpensive kitchen remodel
Should’ve done a glue assist Brad nails will never hold hardwood flooring probably dangerous because they will definitely come up doesn’t matter traffic I’ve tried it in the past only use them on the starter walls
i would put at least some sealant to reduce dirt, dust, drink spills from staining the wood. then it could be mopped.
I also wouldn't face nail it. It's gonna peel up.
Hey Doc. Haven’t watched you lately, sometimes life gets in the way. Well You’ve gone ZZTOP on me! 😎 Love the dark stain. I used that stain on my backyard fencing and boy is it durable. The whitewash is nice also. Fun to see you doing a renovation.
It’s going to be so nice!
Hi can you please post link for flooring used on floor and walls...went to home depot and they said they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for white wood
Awesome stuff!
that room up top will be nice with all the windows open and acting like a chimney when its hot but not stupid hot
Interesting video
Looking good Doc keep up the great work 🇦🇺
As floor installer this hurt me
Loving the Beach house renovation Doc. It beats the Bermuda shows ! Are you thinking about renting the beach house out? If so I'm first on the list !
Won't dirt collect in th V-groove of the flooring?
Doc....any way to get Bermuda on those floors?? Much easier to maintain and install lol. Looking good buddy. Enjoy your weekend.
Just use prefab granite or quartz on those counters. Cheaper and faster.
Soooo would this not be good for a high traffic area like a Kitchen?
Neat!
I love everything that you’re doing down there looks great. I’m going to ask you a question that is off subject. When applying my dimension is it better to use a backpack sprayer or hose end? I have always seen you add it to the hose end mix I have never seen you apply it with a hose end. I Please help.
So you cant use these on rooms that do get a lot of traffic?
Isn’t that stuff super soft??
How is that wood lasting after 2 years? I’m considering it for my new place in upstate South Carolina
Great but... that room gets no traffic. So hard to tell in other areas if used
Where is this house Doc? The coast of GA or the Carolinas?
Good instinct on whitewashing the upper floor in my opinion
I love the flooring and can you tell me if it is a hard wood or would it dent and mark easily?
It's pine, soft wood
Unfortunately that wood as flooring is going to fail because of moisture after a season or two
Hi Doc. what exactly is the name of the wood? Is it Barn Wood White for Shiplap ? Or is it Easy Planking Thermo-treated in Barn White Wood?
White wood is the listing name. Best to just go and look what they have in stock.
@@HowTowithDoc Thanks. Will do. In a rather high end home in northern Virginia, when money is a serious concern, would you recommend LVP or this white wood? Very low traffic areas like guest room.
