I know what you mean... its true. But as beginner, it's great to get the combos down. I struggle with my combos so I work on getting that of the next phase... or when sparring
Hi, love the videos, you’re one of my favorite trainers. I’ve been boxing training for exercise for about 4 months on my own with videos like yours and an app subscription. Perhaps Ive missed it explained in which case I apologize, but can I ask, what exactly is the purpose of learning combinations? It seems obvious, but is it to train to the point of automaticity, so the brain says go and the body just does it? Just to develop coordination so the brain can choose which punch to throw? In the app, it seems like it’s never the same combo two sessions in a row or even in a month, so coordination is improving, but you’re not “learning” a combo.
It's a straight punch and your lead foot is almost pointing at the target, I don't think you would generate more power like you do with a lead hook. What I do for a stronger jab is I step with it and maybe twist at the hip a little
Never ever kink the wrist. This guy is going to cause a ton of wrist injuries if he keeps making videos with wrist bent into a punch. A kink is where it breaks. Stop it.
@@enigmatum Always kink the wrist! This guy is going to cause a ton of weak punchers if he makes comments about how people’s wrists will break if they punch correctly. Stop it.
@@hybridwarriortraining search how wrap a hand pro boxing. Do it. Now try to kink your wrist. You can’t because it should be tight strong and straight. Again stop it. People are going to get hurt trying to punch with a bent wrist.
@@enigmatum I've been watching Tony for years, love the guy learned a lot about boxing from his videos, and since you like him as well go and watch his video on the 6 basic punches where he clearly says to rotate the wrist when the punch lands. if you think pro boxers never do this then you never watched or trained boxing, so instead of arguing with people who has been doing it for years and all you know about the subject is a single youtube vid, maybe you should keep an open-mind and learn. and for the record I believe this guy is a better coach than Tony.
Mike always says strike then move out of the way, don't become a sitting duck, I hope you'll make a video about that. Great video bro.

Why don't you twist the ball of your front foot as well as rotate your torso clockwise when you throw the jab in order to generate power?

The jab is supposed to be a slap rather than a power punch and only to understand the distance of the opponent
A power jab is a different punch to a regular jab.
great concise breakdown of techniques. thanks
