Fantastic race but regrettably decided once again by the lane draw.
Why won’t HRR at least allow the lane to be selected on the basis of a sporting achievement - fastest to Fawley in a previous round maybe or failing that even the toss of a coin? At least that would keep the athletes / clubs involved.
As it stands the winner of this event was picked in the draw by Sir Steve.
Windsor, who are a brilliant quad, were beaten in the final by a fantastic crew from Tideway Scullers who surprise surprise were on the Berkshire side.
If you don’t believe me take a look at the stats. The Fawley Cup attracts loads of entries (and at the top end is very competitive and they are quite equally matched) and as such it’s 15 years on the bounce that the winner has raced from the Berks station!
If the lanes were even the chances of that happening are less than 1 in 32,000!

Agree. Leander were arguably the fastest crew of the regatta this year, however its all part of the Henley experience. Unfair, maybe but it does lead to cracking races
