  • I've had the GFX100S for over a year now but I've never really bothered playing with the video capabilities much. I realized today that I had a 77mm variable ND filter that I could use with my GF 80mm so I took it out to the backyard to shoot some footage of the backyard critters that live with me. Obviously not a very extensive test, but it was fun shooting it! I may have to bust out this combo again. #gfx100s #backyardchickens #mediumformat

I too have just started to shoot video with my GFX100. The bottom line is that a person can create truly beautiful video with it. It is not a good tool for all situations. But if you have a controlled situation such as a demonstration video or advertisment, then it works very well. It is not suited to 'run and gun' or highly dynamic situations where AF is critical. The great number of video settings matter a lot. I have been shooting Hlog so far with in camera recording. Yes, a variable ND filter is a must so as to keep the frame rate and exposure correct. I have recently shot with the Zeiss Milvus 50mm and 85mm F1.4 lenses. Those lenses coupled with the medium format sensor create wonderful, beautiful video. They also allow for very precise manual focus which is important when using the lenses wide open. There are many lenses out there with an aperture of F2 and less. The number of Fuji GF lenses are kind of lacking in this regard.

How are you enjoying your GFX, George? I haven't used mine in far too long!
