I stopped listening when you said sponsored by Hasselblad. Surprise surprise you found it to be the better camera. It also costs 50% more than the Fuji here in the UK
You can say thanks to Brexit because the price of the Fuji on there website is 7999€ and the hasselblad is 8699€ so not that much of a difference. I would surely put 700€ more for better built camera, the price is already really expensive for both. The main difference will be the price of lenses I think
But it’s not better built! It’s 10x slower then Fuji and unusable in 90% of scenarios. Lenses are also 4-6 grand apiece… Fuji 1-3 grand… can also get the 100s for 4,500…
“Brought to you by Hasselblad” should have been mentioned at the beginning, not near the end. And yeah remember the Hasselblad is currently £2,000 more expensive.
Why are you not using Phocus, to actually get the HNCS? Also when you are looking at the Fuji file, why is the profile set to adobe color, and not the Fuji profile you shot with?
This is what I always see in every video that compares these cameras. They pull out Lightroom or Camera One. They never use the manufacturers software to get true colors. Smh. And I'm sorry. Hasselblad and Leica both have to sponsor all these RUclipsrs to do videos and try to get people to buy their overpriced equipment. They still haven't caught up with Fujifilm in terms of operational capabilities. Come on. And the GFX100II is about to drop.
Nice comparison, but in fact, that this video IS SPONSORED by Hasselblad, makes me doubt in the honesty of this comparison. In my opinion, Fuji has an internal color adjustment which could lead to same results.
Sponsored comparison videos aren’t about what the “reviewer” is saying, but more about what they don’t say. For example, when he pushes the HSL for both images he points out where the Hasselblad looks better, but conveniently leaves out where it looks worse. If you look at how the colors are rendered on the cement underneath the car you will see that the Hasselblad looks much worse than the Fujifilm.
I’ve looked at tons of comparisons of these two cameras and the Hasselblad is consistently sharper with nicer colours. But it would be my pick based on the feel in hand and leaf shutter.
The Hasselblad looks to have more accurate colour whereas the Fuji looks more film stock inspired. For the type of images I make I suspect I would have more fun with the Fuji GFX. Would love to try both of them out 1 day.
I own them both. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Fuji = filmic colours, Hasselblad = clinical accuracy. The fuji produces nicer images in my subjective opinion.
I’ve shot the original 100 since the day it came out and same with it and the new 100ii I just got…….. but I’ve only been shooting cars professionally for 25 years so I have no clue what I’m doing 😂
Wow, very interesting to this type of video! Nice to see the difference of these two cameras. Hasselblad's color is very impressive, especially green color, wish I can have an Hasselblad X2D of my own.
Cheaper, better autofocus, more versatile, nicer look to the colours in my opinion, longer battery life, better weather sealing, more lenses available. (this is coming from someone who owns both an X2D and a GFX 100ii)
thanks for the comparison files - I downloaded the raw files and the differences are very interesting indeed. Using LR and C1 it still amazing to see how more "accurate" and lifely the Hasselblad colors are - which is btw also my experience using the X1D II 50 and comparing the files with my Leica SL 2 system (which already produces great files) . Really one needs to do this comparison oneself.
Anyone interested in accurate colors is using a calibration chart. It would have been a much better comparison if the colors were calibrated for this test, otherwise you are just comparing the "preferences and settings" of the camera based on what the user selected or adjusted in post.
Well that was a waste of time. Right at the end....sponsored by Hasselblad. And I was thinking why the gold reflector in some shots? Which ones? Apples and pears. I am sure the Hassenkad is excelent. Best looking camera ever. Used review.
It reminds me on an episode from Friends, when you say "Porscha" (thats what I hear). It is a Porsche - there is a "e" at the end. It is pronounced like "e"mpty or "e"pisode.
Correct, by underexposing he can push the exposure alot more before blowing out. And the Hasselblad lens is sharper, something Chris and company failed to talk about.
I really enjoyed this video, and I have to say that Hasselblad appeals more to me . The sharpness and overall image quality are top-notch. Great comparison video, guys! 👍
I've been struggling between which one I want, but here's a question and interesting observation. In the video, you guys brought up how the red on the Porsche looked more orange on the GFX 100. Using LR, I get colors that I don't like, and honestly, I wasn't able to get colors that I liked through C1 either. However, in the Mac OS Preview app, the colors looked really nice. Red was accurate, white balance looked great, etc. Does anyone know why that is, and what ICC/profile Mac OS preview uses?
Fuji gives a far better value. Dirt cheap compared to Hasselblad, but not the least bit inferior. Fuji is in fact outselling all competition by quite a long shot. This is also true for Fuji in the DX format.
Downloaded the sample files. How is it that I'm able to open the sharpness comparison .RAF file in Phocus? Is there something unique about that Fuji Raw file? None of my other .RAF files will open in Phocus.
Hey guys, love the comparisons! Can you tell me what software you used to review the pix? And the monitor? Figure I'll have to make some purchases! Thanks!
Were they both on a tripod? Sharpness in this scenario can boil down to how steady the shooter is . A true test would be using a tripod. I do appreciate this exercise, it gives us shooters more to think about when choosing the camera.
When you import the Hasselblad files using Phocus software you have 1 more stop of dynamic range and other benefits. Then you can use any other photo software.
loved my gfx cameras but I would say that the hasselblad images from the x2d are more natural and consistently so than my gfx cameras. maybe the gfx mk2 is different but the x2d files definitely put out more life like skin tones off the bat and I was not thinking that would have even been a thing since I felt that the gfx 100s tone were great and fine for who ever owned and used that system. The only issue I had with the x2d was the price of the lenses. The 1 TB of super fast internal storage super simple un convoluted menu system and image quality of the 16 bit and 14 bit raw output is incredible. I did not miss video options because I have a dedicated capture system for that.
interesting video but Hasselblad won everything. is there, not a single critique you can give it, even something minor? I know it's sponsored but still.
your vid really shows the need for some basic lighting skills... its so much more important than the camera. Just an FYI for anyone that happens to read this, when using gold reflectors you really should not use auto WB, it will try and compensate and you get the weird half and half look shown in these samples.
Almost all reviews on RUclips are sponsored. Unless a reviewer has paid for a camera with their own money, it’s sponsored. Most of the big RUclipsrs like Gerald undone get cameras sent to them by the camera companies. That’s not independent journalism and should be considered sponsored. At least the guy who made this video is transparent about it
I appreciate your comment. This is the creative concept the brand wanted produced. I was transparent with letting the audience know that it was sponsored. So take the information as it is. At the end of the day - you can see the comparisons side by side. Nothing was jigged to make the photos perform better or worse - same settings and similar glass. I've been shooting with the GFX 100S for a while now and the "red" issue has been my only gripe. When shooting in Provia, reds look orange. Switching the color profile to Pro Neg Std and bumping up the saturation helps, but it's not perfect. It's such a strange thing that irritates and confuses me about an otherwise amazing camera. I wish Fuji would do something about this. It's the only serious flaw I've noticed with the colors on the GFX.
Fuji's systems are more focused on emulating a film look with their files? So it really doesn't make sense to compare them against true to life colors.
I wish you could look at the Fuji films in Capture One. Lightroom and Adobe products don’t do justice to the Fuji RAF files. Try converting the Hasselblad files to a DNG file then look at them and capture one
With all due respect, anyone claiming better Hasselblad colors or "color science" likely does not fully understand the complete process of digital photography. The sensor and camera are only 2 of the 3 critical elements producing what you see or measure in the raw image. The third is the raw import software. It appears that Lightroom was used to import raw images from both cameras. The fact is, one cannot compare "raw" vs "raw" without involving the raw converter. As any Fuji user would agree who has used both importers, Capture One gives more vibrant raw colors than Lightroom. That would be the only fair comparison to the Hasselblad. For example, your comparison of reds like at 7:12 is completely understood as a result of Lightroom raw converter.
I think you guys need to talk about the glass that each camera came with. It's not just about the camera bodies as y'all know. It would have been even better if you guys had broken that element down w/the shots captured. Otherwise I liked this video n will always shoot w/my Hasselblad over Fuji any day! 🤟📷🔥
Or a reviewer in this case. what a sham. Both amazing cameras though. I own a gfx 100s and was curious about the hassie but this is such a flawed review.
I had a look at all the photos you have included for the download, but it is really difficult to draw a conclusion on these cameras. There is one Fujifilm photo for the download but none of you Hasselblad photos were shot in the same lighting condition or framed/shot in the condition as the fuji camera, I can see the Fuji photo was shot in harsh lighting condition while the girls in the Porche was shot clearly under a shadow for the Hasselblad, for a fairer comparison you should have included the photos shot under similar light conditions. Also in your video when comparing the section of green grass you are comparing two different section of the image from both cameras. I noticed you used both 80mm lenses for this comparison and the photo with the bloke in the car, you kind of zooming in closer to Hasselblad photo then commented how sharp the image was without actually zooming in on Fuji photo this is what we want to see.
Wow, the Hasselblad X2D camera body looks absolutely stunning compared to the Fujifilm gfx100s. I'm really impressed with the Hasselblad's color rendition as well 📸👌
There is something called white balance, play with it and you can get any colors you prefer. Fuji is $7500. If money is not the concern, get hasselblad.
The GFX is leagues ahead of the Hasselblad - far superior functionality and better colour in the right hands - Hasselblad is super pretty but that's it.
lol, base ISO on the 100S is NOT 50. And why are you judging colors on the Fuji when you've got default adobe color profile selected? Insane to try to pass this off as real content.
An issue that needs to be brought up when doing colour comparison videos like this-- it's that fujifilm base colours and tones are really subjective and dependant on which film simulation is used. I personally prefer Astia over the standard Provia for a base everyday shoot. For commercial portraits though, i go for the pro neg hi for the most accurate neutral colours for skin tones.
So why do they not zoom in and let us see because that’s all they’re doing is having it the size that they can see zoom in and make it two or 300% so we can see it as well. These goofy are definitely has a blast fan boys.
One thing to note here is that the GF 80 lens used in this comparison is arguably the softest Fujifilm GFX lens. The GF 110 would have been a better rival to the Hasselblad in this instance (although I completely understand it's better to compare equal focal lenghts). In any case (as a GFX user) I prefer the Hasselblad colors more - but they also come with a hefty price.
Hey Chris love this video, I do have one thing to bring up as I would love to see you review the images a little differently. I shoot on Hasselblad and after a lot of testing I noticed there were major colour shifts in Lightroom with the Hasselblad files. If you process the Hasselblad images in Phocus you will see a massive difference between even the Hasselblad images you did in Lightroom and the ones out of Phocus. There are major changes between Botha yellows, reds and greens. Would love to see you do a video on this. Keep up the amazing work. Cheers Devon ✌🏼

That red slant nose though
