  • In this project, we made a press brake (sheet metal bender) attachment for our hydraulic press.
We will use this multipurpose metal bending tool for our future projects. It is possible to use additional punches and dies for different needs.
According to the dimensions of the hydraulic press, the maximum usable width of the press brake is about 35 centimeters. Also, the capacity of this hydraulic press is about 12 tons. We have tested this bending tool for up to 8mm thickness at the end of this video.
You can find the hydraulic press project at this link:

We used Autodesk Inventor to create the 3D model and the drawings. You can modify the design to suit your needs.
We share the PDF drawings and Inventor files here and hope they will be useful for you and your workshop.

This is the second video I’ve seen somebody building a press brake where they used a battery powered Makita grinder to grind down the blade to a V. Why not use a 120 volt plug in grinder, like a Metabo or even a DeWalt or even a HF? It’s SO much faster. Literally 3 times faster. I can plug in a Metabo and lay into that edge with some force and remove that material in 2 minutes.
I have some cordless Makitas. They are great for field work of when you just need a quick clean up on an edge or other light task. But compared to a 120 volt grinder, it’s like a toy.
I would take off the bulk of the metal with a Metabo, and then take the piece to a belt sander or disc sander to get it nice and straight.
Edit: I forgot to say how great of a job this guy did.

Hi I have only now found your channel !! However I have needed a functioning metal counter sinker for have very bed results with all that I have purchased 6 in only as many weeks just turn to dust especially when in my drill press ! One only lasted 1.5 hole as I counter sink for many engineering screws they have all 6 JUST JUNK on quality these days and not easy to find quality ! I purpose I am picky I am 83 and still using my father’s engineering tools and tooling plus drills he purchase before world war 11 cheers Brian

Just bought a 12 ton press and was looking for this for a while. Thank you for the plans. We need everybody thinking like you to provide people with things for free not for profit. you are a good man. Do you happen to have a complete parts list for this? There are some things missing. Not bugging

IM WONDERING IF THE BOTTOM DIE WERE V SHAPED,INSTEAD OF A SQUARE GROVE,WOUKD THE RADIUS ON THE BEND BE TIGHTER? ALSO,(ITHIS ISNT FOR ONLY THE THE FABRICATOR IN THIS VIDEO) ,IVE BEEN A CERTIFIED WELDER(IN STRUCTURAL AND FABRICATION SHOPS/MULTIPLE PROCESSES) UNTIL I STARTED WATCHING WEKFDING ON YOU TUBE,I NEVER SAW PEOPLE BEND WELDING RODS THAT THEY INTENDED TO USE.. I HAVE DONE IT,WHEN I WELD
HAVING DONE THAT,THE FLUX BLOWS/FALLS OFF.ID HAVE TO GRIND OUT THE CRATER/RESTART AND START A NEW RID..EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT..
GREAT IDEAL! MIGHT CONSIDER UPGRASING TO AIR COMPRESSOR ASSISTED HYDRAULIC JACK,WITH A REMOTE.YOUR SHOULDER WILL THANK YOU..I KNOW ITS EASY TO SIT AND CRITICIZE EVERY LITTLE THING WHILE WATCHING A VIDEO... I REALLY DONT WANT TO COME ACROSS AS IF IM CONDEMNING YOU PROJECT.ACTUALLY, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE RESULTS ARE AS GREAT AS THEY ARE,HAVING CREATED THAT PROJECT WITHOUT A WATERJET,A MILL,A CNC ETC,ETC. IT REALLY APPEARS TO BE VERY NICE!! THUMBS UP & SUB'D ALSO!!

Although it came out nice it was painful to watch. Why so many of you makers don’t have the right tools for the job. E gads man! An angle grinder to cut everything. Just think if you had a bandsaw and a milling machine. Seriously, the time and effort to put in those slots alone. And making the fingers by grinding alone. I’m curious as to what steel you used for them. Doesn’t appear you got them cherry red before the oil quench , and that’s even if they are O-1 tool steel to begin with.
Something I did on mine was to simply use 3 inch thick walled angle iron for the bottom die. I welded a piece of iron flipped over on both sides for support. I also made an insert die using a smaller piece of angle with the inside angle milled square. You can lay this in to get a small tight radius. These brakes work awesome on a Harbor Freight press with an air over hydraulic Jack. Beats the heck out of all that hand cranking. I did enjoy the way you produced your video however. Very nicely done🤙🏻

the price of that chunk of steel right now is probably $600. cheaper to just buy a brake already made.

So right about the price of steel. I bought a Harbor Freight break thing because of the price I could use it and replace it when needed still cheaper than building. But the cheap break works great and has lasted years.
