I love the results! My hairdresser always used the same 12/89 mixed with neutral wella special blonde. My hair is naturally a bit lighter than yours, and it turned out perfect every time. And she gave me the recipe with 20 vol. developer. I order it all from ebay now. And its great! No bleach!

Hanne Romsaas would you mind sharing the recipe using 20 vol developer please? :)

Hi Jen! I’m soooo grateful for this vid it’s exc ! Your blonde looks abs stunning & superb condition! I used to actually be a hairdresser so obvs still have basic colour knowledge ,but have been out of it for 15yrs now cos unfort I fell downstairs, got chronic pain & now disabled so sadly had to give up😭💔😰.Then obvs re lockdown at mo,my hairs abs desperate for doing! I’ve easily got a 4” regrowth. So I’m going to train my fab hubby to do this for me! At least tho with ur brilliant, helpful vid it’s refreshed my memory re ‘WELLA’ high lift, developer, & best method for high lift blonde without damaging bleach! Wella is superb! I act have pink hair so I really need a nice v.light blonde. I’m about a 6/0 base so this high lift shade is perfect for my hair. I’m soooo grateful for ur exc vid it’s spot on,so easy & straight forward! Huge thanks & ur hair’s lovely, fab condition.Faye😘👍😘Xxx

I wouldn't in a milion years think that someone with your hair can use a 12% 😱 I'm not a pro, of course, but it gave me courage to use 12% on my hair too. And my hair is thicker. And I asked my hairdresser, and she told me she always used 12% on my hair 🤦‍♀️😂 I really like your videos, you really put a lot of work in here. I would like to see what colors you use everytime you do your hair, cause i saw you keep trying other colors. So... Yay 😁 hugs!

I got 12/61 (violet and ash to counteract orange). And I only use 25 volume developer- Blonde Brilliance makes blueberry based developers and that’s really pleasant. They also have 35 vol but I’m feeling safer with 25. I also wash off in 25 minutes - I don’t like it to damage my hair and 25 minutes seems safer. Since my hair is black it’s brassy anyways so it takes 3 overlaps to get the same color (around level 9 not 10 like yours). In the meantime I tone to counteract oranges and make smudge “root”. This smudge root will wash off in about 1 month. I use Framesi Eclectic for toning and it laminates your hair - gives it thickness and mirror shine

Your hair looks fab! I'm not a Hairdresser and so I may be wrong but I thought if you used the Special Blondes it was a 2:1 ratio and not a 1:1?

I want to lighten my roots, so I did a patch test on a small section of my hair. I applied a highlift colour only on the newly grown root area. I used Wella Koleston Perfect Special Blonde in the shade 12/81 mixed with a 30 volume developer. I have previously highlighted hair and the hair turned purple in the places where the highlift color had touched the already highlighted hair. You also applied Wella high lift color on your roots but didn’t get a purple residue 🤔

Hi jen, love the video. Do you think your hair would lift the same with 30 vol ? I have been using blue bleach powder for a while and now want to change, but I only use 20 vol with the powder. However I have a bottle of 30 vol, so just wondering if a tube dye will lift, as I hate the bleach especially when you go back through to check you havent missed anywhere, and when you are doing it yourself, it gets really hard to separate the strands when the bleach is all over. Thanks

@Mhyrrannah Allard what a lovely explanation😊very kind of you. I am half Asian and i myself did have trouble lifting past the brassy stage💆‍♀️when bleaching using BlondMe and then i used 40 volume and it was a huge success👱‍♀️
I have since discovered because i used Olaplex, i probably took the volume down from the 20 to nearer a 15 or 10 volume. No wonder bleaching my hair with Blondme didn't take! And again using it on my 40 volume developer do you think i probably dropped in volume to a 30?. Because if so, i would really like to use my 12% 40 volume AND Olaplex #1 with these special blondes mixes and no more having to use BlondMe bleach. Would i be successful in lifting passed the brassiness?💞

Hi Jeni, I purchased the Wella Koleston special blonde 12/89 . They have two one with Me+the other one doesn't have it.
I'm confused you mentioned it had a toner??
I'm sorry can you explain? The 12/89 I purchased just has just the tube no extra toner. Should it

You don't need to put cling film over your head....The colour will develop without it...50mins is max time....Am sure 30vol peroxide, would lift, is gentler than 40vol, and is better for your poor scalp.

jackie owens I didn’t mean that in a catty way. It’s just that anyone with a natural color lower than a level 6-7 isn’t gonna get a good result with this method. It is a very good way for natural blondes to lift to platinum without bleach though!
