Thankyou for such a wonderful video. I have been using acrylic discs and love them, but I was worried that if I put buttercream in between my discs instead of tape it might slide around. I see this is not the case, so thankyou, I will try it. I also like that you put the buttercream on your lid before placing it on top. I will be trying this also.

EXCELLENT tutorial! I am a total newbie! I am trying my new 9.5" acrylics on Wednesday. I am petrified... How should I safely get the frosted cake off of the bottom acrylic?

Have a 9 inch round cardboard circle that you place under your 9 inch cake. I use a little bit of buttercream between my cardboard and acrylic to keep it from sliding. Once your cake has been chilled and you’re ready to remove the bottom acrylic, use your bench scraper to lift your cake up from the bottom acrylic while the cake is still chilled. Happy caking!

@@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes Wow!!! I am a Type A OCD nut! I have watched a gazillion videos on RUclips (which is how I learned about the acrylics and the size I need and then this Press and Seal method). I have asked a gazillion questions and some posters have been nice enough to answer! But you hold the record for the fastest reply!!! Lol!!! The only thing I regret is that I should have ordered my acrylics with a hole in the center... That's okay... I will do it for my next size... Your tips about the hot water and how to use it are GREAT!!! Wish me luck!!! I am a Happy Caker so far!!!

How did you get rid of the acrylic disk on the bottom

There’s a cardboard circle under the cake that’s the same size as the cake. I slid my spatula under the cardboard and lifted it off the acrylic disc

What was the size of the cake pan you used?

It was an 8 inch cake pan with 8.5 inch acrylic discs but I’ve also used my 8.25 inch acrylic discs and both work. You just have thicker buttercream if you use the 8.5 inch acrylic discs.
