I remember in 06 I went to a nat , I hadn't been to one in about 8 yrs ...... Practice was going when I drove up...... And I was like , wtf ..... It sounds like shit out there 👎 😩
Back in the early 90s my dad worked for the AMA and always got us pit passes. I was a young boy and you gave me a set of gloves at Broome Tioga. I still have those, and you've been my favorite motocross rider to this day.
Same, had an 87 cr 125 in 2000. Later got an 89 250. Both amazing but sometimes I wish I kept up on the 125 instead of buying the 250. Ended up giving it to a friend bc every moving part locked up but he did nice restore. 250 is just so much bike..
Feast your ears on that young'ens That's the sound of what TRUE MOTOCROSS BIKES SOUNDS AND RUNS LIKE ! Only bikes that sounds and runs better are the BIGBORE 500 cc TWO STROKES 😎💪 HELL YEAH !
I wanted an ‘86 CR60 so bad as a kid. Parents could only afford an ‘82 MX100. Still rode the wheels off that thing and bought my own ‘82 CR80 when I was 14 with summer job
Yep,---you caught the bike prices before the FIM production rule, (in the USA only, because we were kicking euro butt since 81.). Me too, or I never would have gotten into manufacturing and engineering or have a business today porting little 2-stroke engines that I sell all over the world today. I bought 3 new bikes from the age of 12 in 1974 to 1981, making only $1.00/hr part time. They totaled the cost of this bike in 1986, (the production rule caused the bikes to triple in cost over the next 5 years). Go find "Your a good sport Charlie Brown" from 1975, and you will see how CB payed for a bike. Yes, there is a .5hr Charlie Brown vid on Motocross.
GOOSEBUMPS! I've just bought an absolutely MINT 1986 CR250r. Ohhhhh that sound is just PURE FILTH ❤❤❤ Can't wait to get out on it this weekend, if it doesn't Snow or Piss Down. 🏴🇬🇧 This video is AWESOME 👌
Ryan, I'm from the Philippines, you're the MAN, you really did a fantastic job and proved something spectacular. It truely goes to show that it's not the bike, it's the rider. What you showed at Lorettas 20th to 4th was awesome. And if you won't mind, I would also like to say that Jeff Emig also did a good job on his 150 2 stroke.
@@RyanHughesMX Thank you sir for the reply, much appreciated. And if I may, I would also like you to continue on your advocacy on safer bikes like one on the videos I saw that you said that instead of a 450, why not tune it down to a 350. You're damn right about that sir. Kids now a days think that because of the power of the 450, flying high is awesome. We don't want "please excuse me for saying this sir", another Magoo Chandler or David Bailey for that matter. You know what I mean sir. By the way, I'm glad you're doing great after the crash you had with that '79 Elsinore. In fact, I do have a '79 and planning to restore it one day. Keep safe sir and thanks again.
I watch this vid Everytime before I ride, gets me pumped and if there is any one motocrossers style to emulate, it would be rynos,...what good is being the best if u can't look the best at the same time!!!.....
Now that's the sweet sound of success Ryno. Beautiful. Looks just like they did back in the day. Ya makin me regret selling mine now after I did a full nut n bolt restoration. I still have an 84 CR250. Not as good as the 86 but still a fun, fast bike. Keep on roostin my man.
Yep, this is what I grew up on back in the 80’s & 90’s! Miss the sound and smell of what it was like. The bikes of today are so expensive gone are the days of a good bike at a reasonable price. It’s sad!
It is more than sad to me, the force of the production rule in 1986 and the 4-stroke forced on the industry---should be criminal. With out those 2 things,--a new bike would probably be about 4 grand right now---and a 2 stroke.
Talk about keeping it fun. I have a 450 and athena 280 four stroke honda but on the now rare race day it's the yz 250 or the 150 sx. They never lull you to sleep. Stank!!!
One thing I can do just like him, I back up using my feet on the ground. Graham Jarvis, Billy Bolt and Mario Roman do it with both feet on the pegs 😂 Sweet bike, great video! Thanks
Hey Ryan, Growing up an hour or so from Broome-Tioga, Unadilla, and working at a D3 Track (Frozen-Ocean) for many, many years, its a welcomed flash back in time, to hear the crisp CR250 sounds again!! My Friend Paul always rode the RED HONDA #22 in the D3 Expert Class. Perhaps you can make your way up to 'Dilla 2021??!
Maybe the CRs didn't have a rebound circuit on these shocks cuz it def seemed to be a bit bouncier than usual... I think you were using this to your advantage getting into that bouncy kind of GrooVe you got into it helps you keep your rhythm with the consistent kind of up and down modulations that begin to resemble a program, a program of a heightened sense of spatial relationships, reinforcing itself with A1 experience,...technique,...natural ability....you can take a bikes strengths and make them stronger while minimizing the weaknesses by making less and less mistakes,..and instantly adapting to the older platform.....your seamless portrayal she sounds really crisp and jetted perfectly.....sounds meatier than most 80s cr's cuz maybe u are using better components when rebuilding her but all in all, one of the best sounding 86 cr250s I ever heard!!! and, it actually sounds better than just about any other 250 2 stroke dirt bike for that matter.
Ahh no wonder, that motor sounds way too beefy to be stock, although Im sure Ryan could still make a stock 86 cr seem extra special, just the precise scalpel like inputs are always on point and balanced, def a joy to watch man and machine at a high level of harmony!!
The first year of the FIM production rule in the USA only, (cause we won the MXofN 5 times in a row at that point), and the first year prices starting going up artificially, (because of the regulation). That bike costs $2,300 off the show room floor, and the bikes tripled in cost from 86 to 91. From 1974 to 1985, where many bike advancements have been made, bikes went from $1,000 to about $1,500 for a new 250. Now, the 4-stroke was forced on the industry, over doubling the cost of a bike again---and we can't figure out why the sport is hurting. I was there. I bought new bikes as a kid making $1.00/hr part time starting at the age of 12 in 1976. I saw it happen---and I understand what happened to our dying sport.
Yo Ryan, you did great on the 250R, I have the Identical bike, a 1986 CR250R and she is a BEAST! Thinking of selling it, to help buy my boy his next Motocross Bike!
Broke earlier. The 2-stroke engine was fine, and free market. The 4-stroek are government demanded---and not affordable for 9 out of 10 kids who bought a 85 or earlier bike. Turn them into a space ship, and imagine where the sport will be. Remember, the FIM can't fill a pro starting gate in Europe today. That is were we are.
57 and just riding again after 19 years off with a YZ 250 2-stroke. Just trail riding in Michigan here,--with a good dinner afterwards. :) I just wanted to start living again---before I die.
And maybe some low speed compression...... And some air in the forks. Maybe a 23in front wheel.... Or a 20in'r ..... Hmmm so much bullshit to choose from 😵💫

I remember in 06 I went to a nat , I hadn't been to one in about 8 yrs ...... Practice was going when I drove up...... And I was like , wtf ..... It sounds like shit out there 👎 😩
And smell like

Thats awesome Bro!
Such an awesome sound. The sound of my youth! I had an '87 CR250. Loved that bike!
I'm with you! I had a 1988 CR125 in high school. Wish I still had it. The 4 strokes just don't sound the same.
Same, had an 87 cr 125 in 2000. Later got an 89 250. Both amazing but sometimes I wish I kept up on the 125 instead of buying the 250. Ended up giving it to a friend bc every moving part locked up but he did nice restore. 250 is just so much bike..

86 cr250 blew me away more than ANY OTHER new bike in 46 years of dirtbiking... great choice!!
that sound never gets old. awesome thanks for sharing

Great ride today at LL .. Blitzing by at the end there my dude !! 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️ Ryno for President !!
Love the echo off of the trees, don’t get that here in the west. 👍
Have to agree the Honda CR in 1986 was rock solid, that was my 1st motocross bike as a kid loved it.
The answer to the question “ i wonder what it would look like if one of the all time greats ripped it on a classic 2 stroke on MY homemade track”
I watch this vid Everytime before I ride, gets me pumped and if there is any one motocrossers style to emulate, it would be rynos,...what good is being the best if u can't look the best at the same time!!!.....
holy crap that cr sounds great
The way smokers echo sounds so sick

I had one of those back in 86. Great Powerband...
Looked like hard track to ride it wide open but you can see the potential 👍🏼👍🏼 ryno you should enter the world 2 stroke championships
Happy to see u ripping on that bike congratulations
Great bike the '86 RG model - Keep an eye on the water pump housing for pin holes and the circlips that go on the exhaust sliding valve "tongues"
some say thats the best honda motor EVER!!

Yes!!! Your a beast! Great ride today!!
You are the man, Big fan of you forever. ❤️💪🏻
Good job those bikes are beasts 👍
I am restoring one of these great dirt bikes ... sounds amazing

Mitch at Pro circuit did the engine

I had an 86 CR 250, that motor was great. Imagine where we would be if the kept up development of the 2 strokes instead of the 4 strokes

you look so comfortable on that bike
This sounds amazing. I might buy this within the next week. The price is too cheap to let pass.
That CR250 can smoke any brand out there & mine can to. %100!
Enjoy brother.
Sounds crispy
You can do it!!!! '86 CR Man
Motor sounds healthy!!
I've got my 1985 CR250R all together and happy. Now I just need to sell it before I hurt myself.
57 and just riding again after 19 years off with a YZ 250 2-stroke. Just trail riding in Michigan here,--with a good dinner afterwards. :)
I just wanted to start living again---before I die.
In 86 I got a brand new 1986 yz80.
2021 still on a yz but a 2018 yz250
Huges needs to host a Travis P. pit bike championship there. 😃
Man, That fucker bark's! Sounds just like MC's SX Honda in the 90's
Those bikes still look tough
Rear brakes are drum, guess all ya need is front brakes anyway
Looks like the rear needed a little more rebound damping.
And maybe some low speed compression...... And some air in the forks. Maybe a 23in front wheel.... Or a 20in'r ..... Hmmm so much bullshit to choose from 😵💫
So what did you think of the 86 CR? I thought you might comment .
Where are you taping this
Bring back the 04 Hangtown Ryno ! So crispy.
Ryno you should have a CR250AF built with a newer chassis for next year. If thats even allowed lol
"If that's even allowed"
That is the part that bugs me the most. What we are not allowed to do today.
Thing barks was that a 3rd gear start?
That is one spicy unit. #CertifiedRipper
I can almost smell the premix
The Honda is cool but he should have been on that Kawasaki
Chad trying to reinvent the wheel and blew her right up.
2 stroke Eargasm!
Rad
Sweet‼️🔥👍
*Braaap*
Reminds me off Magoo
The thing rips
I heard the 2022 crf 250r was pretty sweet though........
Anyone know where I can find the masters race at lorettas
...No excuses when loosing Races with this Bike...👀
🤙
2 stokes…make motocross great again
🍀🏴🙏
Two strokes rulez
Yea buddy
She looks a little soft, stiffen that suspension and that track leaves a lot to be desired!!👊✊💨💨💨👍

Hi
1st kick don't act surprised it's a hondA Cr budd.
And I don't care what people say those two strokes were faster and more powerful than the four stroke crap these days 😂😅
MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea yea show off, lol
Honda power.
A proper moto crosser ,sounds amazing ,not like these farting sounding four strokes 😂😅
MX music
too bad that engine blew up, he would have ripped even harder out there
did it? was about to comment that it does not sound jetted right, but might be just bad microphone on camera(phone) or blown silencer wool...
Sounds crips.
