Sometimes the EFI partition of a Windows 10 computer may get damaged or formatted by mistake. This would stop Windows from starting. This video shows how to restore the EFI partition using a Windows repair usb disk or Windows 10 USB install disk.
    The commands used:
    Diskpart
    list disk
select disk 0 (the number for the disk that has the EFI partition)
select partition 2 (or the number for your system partition)
    assign letter=S
    exit
To change drive S: or drive letter with :
    format S: /FS=FAT32 or format S: /FS:FAT32
    bcdboot D:\Windows /s S: /f UEFI
    Exit

I would like to add that, for those who are using dualboot with linux and windows and somehow their windows bootloader broke, then they don't need to reformat the efi partition, just skip that step and you will end up with all bootloaders working. bcdboot will create the required directories and won't touch the existing bootloders from efi partition. Thanks a lot for this video man)

Absolute legend! There is quite a bit of documentation out there on doing this, but almost all of them you run into permission issues, even when doing it from a recovery disk in CMD. This worked a charm! My entire EFI folder was missing, so I had to shrink the main windows partition by 200MB then made a 100MB partition from that for the EFI, then basically followed your guide. Thank you man.

I cannot thank you enough! This worked like a charm... Very clearly explained and to the point. Absolutely amazing! The only additional thing for me was that while formatting i.e. after...
    format S: /FS=FAT32
It asked me to enter the current volume label, which was... SYSTEM
After that it went just like the vid.
The issue I was facing was that my system wouldn't recognize windows and would only show me the blue screen with troubleshoot and shutdown options. I must've watched like 10 videos and visited 10 more forum pages, nothing helped. You sir, are a blessing. Thanks again!

Excellent video for repairing EFI partition to enable booting into Windows. I had copied partitions separately by resizing and rearrabging them in the order of System (550MB), MSR (128MB), Windows and Recovery (1GB) so the system did not boot until this video rescued me. I knew this procedure already but just wanted to double check for reassurance. My Windows drive was F on my new NVMe instead of D in this video, which is usually C for most people. Therefore, I was simply able to do this from existing Windows within minutes.

Great job on this video. I was trying to get a new hard drive ready, and in the process, the old one stopped being able to boot into windows. I tried some other videos, but this was the one that got it working again. Thank you so much for sharing this.

For those, who got the error as "Unable to copy boot files", repeat the command with another drive. It worked for me !

Microsoft seriously needs to hire some uefi engineers to fix this, it’s most likely caused thousands to wipe their systems without knowing about the methods you laid out so clearly. Thank you

YOU ARE A LIFESAVER! I was trying to set up a Hackintosh but I somehow managed to erase my Windows EFI partition and I was worried I'd have to format my SSD! Thank you for making this dude :D

Thank you very much. This was the only solution that worked.
I accidently messed up my efi in such a say that I couldn't even access troubleshooter even with a USB installation.
I manually replaced the BCD files from EFI folder to main folder ( through Live Linux Distro )
Now , I got to access the troubleshooter.
I followed your video and it worked !
( bootrec /fixboot ) didn't work but was recommended everywhere.

Thank you, you saved from a lot of headaches. I tried to find how to find how to fix "Reboot and select proper boot device" message and I wonder if my EFI partition was corrupted. Turns out to be right, now PC is healthy again. Cheers!
