Aaron you're awesome! I love watching your tutorials. Every time I run into a situation in photoshop where I don't know what to do, I simply look up one of your tutorials and I'm back on track in no time. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Really great tute Aaron, my only complaint is 'very small': sometimes you aren't zoomed in very much, and it's hard to see what you're doing with your cursor. I'm sure it looks fine on your screen, but viewing on a tablet or even a TV, some of the little tweaks you make are almost invisible. Thanks for teaching me this much easier way to rotoscope!
Thank you for your great tutorials! You are really professional and I like the atmosphere, the positive attitude as well the comprehensiveness of what you are talking about. I also like your office :) Best regards!
Aaron, thanks for the video making the distinction between vector and layer masks. However, I still ask myself about the application. When and why would I use a vector mask? Not just to cut something out?
Love your tutorials! I have a lot of cat photos that I want to just cut out and make some cool photos of them, would love to see how you do the ones in your intro!
To invert a vector mask: Highlight the path with the pen tool (ctrl click it). Go to the pen tool options on the top bar. Find the path operations drop down (it looks like two square on top of each other). select one of the other options from that list.
Hey.. are you still there? Why my selection result is diferent? Do you know why my path selection is hiding the objec selected, not the around of the object selected? Thanks...
Hi! I love your tutorials Aaron. In this one i have a question. Since is a vector mask, that means that if for some reason i re-size it... it will continue to be sharp?
Lovely! but I started by sellecting the object using the quick sellection tool, than added a Vector mask on which I have chosen to make a path out of the sellection, then I more easily and faster refined the path...
great.. what is your qualification in studies?? Because i done my bscs and now i want this field as my profession and many people said me that this is not the work of bachular degree holder
Hey Aaron, thanks for the cool lessons! :) Btw Adobe changed liquify tool on effects, you can edit face so much easily, think about making an episode maybe? It could be so useful for people! Love to jobs you do! #Respect
Extremely useful tutorial but I still have a problem. I cannot modify a layer because the point is not inside the vector mask of a visible layer. How can I do this? After creating a route with the Pen tool I was able to modify it then I changed tools, went back to the pen tool when I realized I could no longer change the path of my route. What did I do wrong? please and thank you!
Interesting but I still prefer the standard method, just create a path with the pen tool and, if required, 'command click' on path ( in path pallet) to make a selection. Nothing could be simpler! Sometime only the photographer can create an accurate path because only he/she knows where the edges are. That is, on many 3 dimensional objects (especially if they have a shiny surface) it can be impossible to tell where the object ends and the 'background' begins as sometimes you can have a perfect mirror effect on the object you are cutting out. I like to see the actual background at all times while creating the path otherwise it would be very easy to 'remove' part of the object being cut out by mistake. A tip for paths in dark shadow areas ( usually underneath ) where you can't see the edge, look in the channels pallet to find one (R,G or B ) that shows the most contrast in the shadow detail and 'duplicate' it. Adjust levels ( or curves) so that you can see everything in the shadow, finish your path and then delete the duplicated channel.
Do you by any means read bed time story's as a profesion? I don't know why but each time i watch your videos i fall asleep... Not that the content is bad or anything. You leanr't me everything i can in photoshop (wich i'm pretty sure is a bit above the average photoshop user) So thanks for the good tutorials.
When I create a path and then go to level>vector mask>current path what is inside the shape is hidden. Why is it not the opposite? I want what is outside the shape to be hidden as in the video. Thanks :)
I love the professionalism of your tutorials, nothing redundant, (almost) everything's relevant and useful.4.5/5 thank you!
Yuzukhane
Agreed. I even watch tutorials on techniques that I'm already familiar with. More often than not, I learn very key things that I've overlooked. :-/

Aaron you're awesome! I love watching your tutorials. Every time I run into a situation in photoshop where I don't know what to do, I simply look up one of your tutorials and I'm back on track in no time. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

I love the way you summarize the main steps.
in this tutorial i learnt that, by clicking alt or option, i can turn every point into a curve.
Great.
It's useful to mention the shortcuts as well: ctrl+shift+click-the-mask-icon-in-layers-panel and the same with ctrl+alt
Wow, I never knew there was a vector mask in Photoshop. Thank you for this tutorial.

You're the best Aaron!!
For the shortcut lovers (like moi):
With the path selected, just control+click on the "Mask" button at the bottom of the "Layers" palette.
Aaron, thanks for the video making the distinction between vector and layer masks. However, I still ask myself about the application. When and why would I use a vector mask? Not just to cut something out?
I love your tutorials their so easy and clear to understand :)
Your tutorials are on point.
Thank you very much sir.. Could you make an episode of adjusting the disco lights so that we make people or a person visible..!?
Love your tutorials! I have a lot of cat photos that I want to just cut out and make some cool photos of them, would love to see how you do the ones in your intro!
Very helpful, love how you explain everything so clearly
Excellent.... Aaron, you rock!!!!
You are the best!!!
Thank you very much.

Go to the pen tool options on the top bar.
Find the path operations drop down (it looks like two square on top of each other).
select one of the other options from that list.
always great useful and the best
Make sure that your pen tool is in "path" not "shape" mode. That's an important piece of info. Without the "path" mode, this will not work.
Thank you so much for that heads up. I wasn't able to follow the tut until I changed this.
Thank you!! Just saved my life !!
Hey.. are you still there?
Why my selection result is diferent? Do you know why my path selection is hiding the objec selected, not the around of the object selected? Thanks...
