My Ram truck is in the shop AGAIN...

- My Ram 3500 needed the rear axle replaced due to the housing being warped from a bad weld job. Shortly before I bought it, the previous owner gave it a little too much horsepower while towing a car on the wheel lift spun the differential in the tubes, which took out the driveline, transfer case, and transmission. All were replaced, but the repair shop decided to weld the tubes to the diff to prevent it from happening again. Unfortunately they did a horrible job at it and bend the housing from an incorrect welding job. The only replacement I was able to find was from a 2008, which is a little different, but Jordan at Elite Fleet Automotive was able to do some mechanic stuff and make it work anyways.

Are you selling the messed up rear axle?
AGGGGH Casey...no...not another channel a havnt got time t watch ! Al take a look, just for research purposes
Casey you are the reason repair shops put up the sign " customers not allowed in the work area ". And The price is higher if you help lol.
Jordan has the patience of Job.
I’d be so distracted I’d forget the Axle bolts.
I was thinking of the same sigb about charging double LOL
@@chriskulpa4056 Yep, just tell him it’s $10 more, for every Word he sez !
@@davemi00 ha ha ha
I miss being able to go in the shop and observe (quietly) what shape the bottom of my vehicle is in! Lawyers, I guess - haven't been able to do it the last 10 yrs. If I had, my previous car wouldn't have rusted so bad unobserved!
"That's why you tow cars for a living."
Savage.
“How did you miss that bad?” That’s how out of alignment the old axel was.
Jordan is a amazing friend, especially when he has to deal with your shenanigans.
I think you are lucky to have a good friend like Jordan. He seems like a great mechanic and I think his videos would be popular on RUclips. Great video.
Jordon lifting that tire in place was impressive!
He will feel it later
Welcome to the wonderful world of MOPAR. Mostly Obsolete Parts Assembled Randomly.
Midnight on Saturday in Australia perfect entertainment fun once again. Nice to see people with a sense of humour.🇦🇺
Jordan saying, "Aerosol Overhaul" on those shocks and, "I don't DO brakes, I TAKE breaks" 😂
Fuel tank for forklift ??? Priceless!!
Love the gas tank on the shop forklift 😂
Casey this video was a lot of fun the commentary between everyone was a lot of fun. I am surprised I figured that at a mechanic shop there would be a lot of cussing especially when things go wrong. I am impressed those guys seem so calm and cool even when things don't go quite as planned.
Keep up the great work
Happy Birthday, Brandon!
Happy Birthday Brandon!! 🥳🎉🎂
Casey it's great watching the camaraderie between you and the fix-it boys!! Thanks for another great video!!
! ! ! KUDOS TO JORDAN, A HECK OF A MECHANIC ! ! !
Shop fun with Jordan and Casey! Great Saturday morning fun!
You know a true mechanic by the E-Tape on the cut finger ! Love it !🤚🏻
Great 👍Content and Thanx for Sharing your experience
Have a Great Day 👍
God Bless America 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
glad to see Jordan installed the new rear axle for you. Hopefully the Dodge is set for a while now.
Hey! Good morning Casey. Man it sucks that you have had so many repairs on that Dodge. It is still a real nice looking and nice running truck. I bet it handles much better now.. Thumbs UP man ! 👍
Seeing that Jeep pickup caused me some nostalgic pain. I had one that looked exactly like that ... quadratrac, 403 or 401 engine. It ran like a turpentined cat. 1 ton suspension (rode like a lumber wagon). Burned up the transmission in it twice, the automatic it had was a weak link, even with "enhancements." Was still the newest vehicle I've ever owned. Got laid off, money got tight, I sold it to get the bank note paid off before I defaulted. It's one of a few vehicles I have had that I see in my dreams (owning it again) from time to time.
If you carefully mark the locations of the jack-stands on the floor than you don’t have to worry if the get bumped/moved.
Something to consider is adding a set of Trimbren blocks to help out your helper springs. I ran a 93 GMC 3500 with a “sneaky Pete” wheel lift and later a 99 F350 with another Sneaky Pete “wheel lift” along with a “hidden” in-bed fold-out wreck tow-bar setups when I did repo, parking lot, and police call towing when I lived in Baltimore and I had tried mountain sized spring stack that just Road like 💩, Firestone airbags in the read, helper springs like similar to your setup and finally a buddy of mine who also in the tow business suggested I try Timbren blocks. When I finial bought a set I kicked myself in the “donkey” for not buying/installing them sooner because they did not change the ride of the truck unloaded but when I had a car on the wheel lift they stopped most of the rear end squat
Happy Birthday Bandon!
I watched you pick up the new axle, glad you got it installed, nice attention to detail on that! And just so you know, I really APPRECIATE you not plugging electric bikes, hair grower, etc. in your videos.
The adds on some of the other channels is starting to get annoying for sure 🤔
🙌 congratulations on 90,000 subscribers!🎉
Let's keep helping Casey out by recommending this channel to your friends. Let's break 100k
Good video Casey!! I always enjoy watching someone else work! LOL!! I know exactly how it feels when "Murphy" gets his hands into your project. He's been a close admirer of mine for years! LOL!!!
Casey I would love the old jeep truck too and looks to be in pretty good condition from what you showed on the video.
My best friend has his own shop and I've had to help him Place several rear-ends in different Vehicles it's not an easy job but like to see when the van was done for the homeless veteran keep up the great work and harassing the employees but in a good way
Happy birthday Brandon, somebody loves you. Great video guys. 👍👍🇨🇮🇨🇦🐶❤
To get a very good mechanical workshops is extremely important, and the good part is if they are young people with great skillsets, plus the clean workshop is definitely a unique and fabulous place. 👍.
Aerosol overhaul had me laugh in my butt off! Another great video Casey love your content. Something different every time like I said before. Thank you for all that you do to clean up the force and keep it clean.
Forest 😢
What a great video. Better than anything on TV nowadays.
That J10 is sweet. Thanks for the close up
He had to start singing "It's a Small World" Got stuck on that ride once. Once was enough!
Hey Casey, I want to make a suggestion to you. I would recommend putting some reflective tape on the back of your wheel lift on your ram pick up help you maybe getting rear ended or something six in a row Jim
The "aren’t you done yet, Jordan?" seems the moment to forcefully remove the speaker from the premises.
LOVE that Honcho! When I heard Jeep was going to build a pickup again I was excited to see one. Just as many other automakers IMHO they missed the mark, BIG TIME! Looks wise that is. Mechanically/etc they may be PDG but....
👋 from Dallas TX.
😂 i’m way down in Southern California and I know exactly where you are when you’re driving around Bend you literally went through my brothers neighborhood I still can’t believe they call that place a Desert
That was fun. Glad it's as sorted as it's going to be.
Casey you have some good friends that you can trust for repairs👍😎 You guys sure have fun together! Jordan tells you “ Yeah, that’s why you tow cars for a living”😂 That fuel “tank” on the forklift 😂 Nate is my thong model😂😂 Stay safe out there!❤️🙏
"gas tank" on the fork lift made me smile....
Happy Birthday Brandon!! Great job Jordan!!
Thank Jordan for that bearing trick.
Casey I loved this video I'm retired and have worked on cars my whole life but my health has not let me for a while. this made me feel like I was in the shop right with you...
Happy birthday Brandon hope it was a good one nice vidio on axle swap there is allways something that doesn't go to plan
At least you found the issues finally, great video, if you fix the wheel speed sensor it could turn off a light on the dash
Happy birthday Brandon👍
Be careful, alignment dude might wire the horn to the brake light switch next time you aren’t looking.
Maybe he should send you to the store to get out of the shop so he can work. The fact that he can work with you there is amazing.
Good Morning Casey. Extending Brandon's Birthday. Thank you for sharing.
Dam that good deal out of Texas still keeps on giving, well taking huh? Keepem coming Casey.
this was fun watching, thanks
Wow lucky parts on the shelf!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Happy Birthday! Brandon 🎉🎈🎉🎈🎁🎂🇺🇸
Great job Jordan and happy birthday Brandon I ts awesome to see a shop like this one, friendly having a good time and still getting work done plus having to adapt and overcome the differences in the 2 model years of axles when the techs are able to do that you know your at the right shop. Awesome content Casey and as always be safe 👍
I doubt you’ll have problems with the new differential but if you do call company called Dinotrux they build superior differentials and I’ll guarantee you. You will not have a problem with their package. They got that the tube itself is 3/4 of an inch thick and put together by hand anyway six in a row.Jim from Kennerdell PA
Jordan, you made that look awful easy. Impressive also a great attitude. Casey, I'd be surprised if he hadn't charged you double for all the grief you gave them. :) You've got good friends there.
LOL! First Happy Birthday Brandon 🎂🥳🎉🎂!!! Second, it's really nice to have good friends as mechanics even if ya have to pay them!
One thing I seldom did was let a customer in my service bay. I found more accidents happen when said customer would want to help an then get hurt. Your friendship must be deep as money never made a difference... ten customers waiting to take your place was my attitude and it was right. So glad I am not getting up at four thirty in the morning to go to work and stay till nine or even after midnight at a few times.... the work is easy enough, its the every day, day and night, till the body screams no more.
having a nice shop with a car lift and air tools (or cordless) sure beats rolling around in the dirt using jack stands and hand tools!
Try doing this in a parking lot. I've even done an engine swap on a 4x4 Toyota tundra in the middle of a parking lot on ft bliss in the middle of summer with no shade lol. Being mobile you gotta make things happen. Figuring out how to move things that heavy by yourself can be a challenge sometimes
I like the how the mechanics forklift has a gas can fuel tank 😆
Good work Jordan I see why Nate Give you a job
That Was A CRAZY REPAIR & Maybe it's All Done Now ! ! !
Happy birthday Brandon :)
Happy Birthday Brandon! Thanks for the video Casey!
Happy birthday, Brandon!
I had a 1983 jeep cj7 and I was cutting firewood in Michigan with 10 to 12 in of snow with -60+ degree wind chill went to head home with heavy load made a clunk and would move got under found rear axle housing facing down at right angle removed drives haft drove home with front axle no welds on tube floor jack into place and welded
Great video! Learned some stuff.
Happy Birthday!!!!
Happy birthday
You Make it a new truck.
Again 👍
Had to replace the complete rear end in a dodge I had , was glad it was under warranty and when i got it back I traded it for a Ford ,there will never be another dodge on my property. Good friend of mine had the same problem with his, a few months after replacing the rear end in his he had to replace the front diff also and he said he will never have another dodge !
I used to have a Suzuki Samarai on boggers as a play toy. Well i was up in Ocala,Fl playing at a mud hole that was really soft ground. Stuff i could drive over, full size trucks would sink in. So this guy had an obs ford big block truck on 44's. He made it about half way across than it sank. His friend had single wheel one ton 4x4. He proceeded to try to pull him out, either driver front axel broke or front unit bearing exploded, anyway his front left tire wasn't attached to truck anymore. I have a yj jeep, im assuming the ram/dodge front the same with the cad= center axel disconnect.
What a piece of shit that idea was. With that when your rear axel is wore out so is the front because the driver side axel is allways turning the diff. They should just made it all wheel drive. I can't figure out for the life of me why ram/dodge/jeep not put hubs you can unlock. Yes hubs break, but i'm sure its cheaper to replace hubs and i could do it in the woods, that poor bastard with his tire hangoff the truck probably got ass raped by a tow company just to get it out because the trail in was really deep sugar sand.
Pinion nut just came off the rear end of my 2010 1500. Trashed the diff, driveshaft, and transfer case.
@@dakotakelly9371 that sucks bro.
GREAT job Jordan........ Casey is in debt with ya...LOL!!
6:58 i love that improvised Fueltank on the Hyster Forklift :D
! ! ! A Late HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRANDON ! ! !
nice green snap on toolbox
Good job Jordan!! Because you usually do such a great job explaining things Casey I think you are mistaken on the cause of your rearend failure. Accel torque is applied thru the diff and then the axle shafts. Stopping torque is applied thru brakes to axle housing tubes to chassis. Your trucks original failure is from braking forces as opposed to accelerating forces. So, go ahead and mat the accelerator, just be careful braking with a load on!!! Have a great day!!
You are 100% wrong.
When you mat the gas the driveshaft tries to turn the pumpkin up or down depending on what gear you're in the spring perches and u bolts stop it from twisting I've busted tubes off from spinning from mud to pavement my foot was under the brake pedal so no chance I hit it
Jordan missed his chance. After lowering the truck, he should have put it in drive instead of reverse, pulled forward a hair and told Casey, oops, looks like this one has the opposite rotation. I actually do that on an oilfield truck. New axle has opposite rotation. Would run 80 mph in reverse, about 10 in forward! Lol.
Happy Birthday Brandon!
Noticed your license plate is missing a number 3 to be what you do…247*65!
Happy Birthday Brandon !!!
Happy birthday to you
Happy Birthday Brandon.
He didn't miss when he setup the replacement rear, the old one was just that much bent
That's called an "earbug" when you get a song stuck in your head like that. Man can it suck! Glad the truck is fixed!
A garage I was in had a sign with prices. So much an hour $$$, double if the customer watched, triple when the customer helped. This might apply here.
Good one thanks 👍
Hey Casey !!! SO now you have ""DRUM "" brakes on the rear & Disc on the front ??? That's interesting as ""CHEY "" & ""FORD "" do the same thing !! Hope it ALL works out for you as now you need a "" 4"" Wheel alignment done !! Have a good week & Thanks for the ""ENTERTAINING"" video !!!
No, disk brakes all the way around
And that is how a real mechanic installs bearings because he has to do it correctly so he doesn't have to fix it the second time because it failed. But you knew that already.
love the temp gas tank onfork lift
Good morning Casey! Have a great day. I woke up to my cat giving birth. Lol 😂
Happy birthday Brandon! 🥳🥳🥳
Happy Birthday Brandon 🎂🎁🎉🎈
I like a mechanic who works without gloves. My kind of dude.
Whatever happened to the veterans van, The last time I saw it it was getting the engine fitext and it said almost done. Great job 👏 👍
I explained that in this very video
@@CaseyLaDelle He obviously did not watch the video. LOL
I would like see Jordan replacing the
Harmonic balancer in my C5 .

Greetings from North Texas.
A guy I knew bent the axle housing in his one ton Dodge. The local frame shop straightened it and installed a truss package.
hey are you ever going to show the finished van rebuild for the vet
Yes, I'm going to show the finished van when it's finished
