geometrically speaking: as long as a saddle is created, it doesn't matter if there is a pinch or your "control method". the geometry and topology of a saddle impart the strength to support the taco without your "extra support" method. Where things fail is the materials used. And a soft but structurally sound (glutens have been sufficiently strengthened) tortilla is all that is needed. Maths to the rescue.

hes right, just recently i started holding from the back, cause if you hold it from the middle and bite the front, it spews out the back.
The pinky goes in the back, lifting up the back flap of tortilla so when u take a bite from opposite end, the filling doesnt fall out the other.
