- Stephanie J. Block and the rest of the 2012 revival cast of Drood. Amazing isn't she? At first I really don't know what to expect from this revival since Betty played this role to perfection nearly 30 years ago. SJB is quite a revelation - she really is a good belter! I simply adore her in this role! :D

What does this lady have to do to win a TONY??!!!!
IKR I think she's gonna win for Cher :)
Be Cher apparently
Become Cher clearly.
Be Cher
Agreed 100%. She is incredible in every part she plays.
She is sooo amazing, I can't believe she lost both of her Tony nominations, she was amazing in this and as Trina in Falsettos and 100% deserved to win
She should have been Mary Poppins in the sequel.
ik, emily blunt's range was so bad in that :/ not mary poppins.
man trina and cordelia sure got up to some interesting shit.
HAHAHA
UGh Stephanie is perfect.
WOw I'm kind of in love with her
they lowered the key A step. ONE step. and its underwhelming??? youve gotta be kidding! that note is still insane!
If you didn't have perfect pitch/know the show incredibly well you wouldn't even notice! Plus this key is as exciting in Stephanie's voice as the step up is in Betty's (who had a higher voice to begin with).
I actually prefer Stephanie’s final note over Betty Buckley’s, though it may be because I feel Block just performs it overall better
Stephanie J. Block is a goddess!
Tony Award winner Stephanie J Block
The show was amazing..should have run for years. Chita invited me as her guest and I LOVED it! Audiences are too stupid to appreciate brilliance! :( sad.
I can't even handle how amazing she is gahhhhhhh
I guess Rosa was voted murderer that night
One of the best performances I got to see on Broadway!
Amazing! Wish PBS had recorded it!
goddess. her accent is gorgeous
I love her. She was the first Elphaba I saw in Wicked 💚💜💙🌞
I heard that the song was originally in this key but Betty Buckley wanted it raised..
Actually, it was originally one and a half tones above this, and the last note wasn't written, but in the first reading, Betty just went up, and then it was lowered so she would actually be able to sing it eight shows a week, so originally, it was an F. Seth Rudetsky has a deconstruction of a recording of that reading, if you're interested.
She is phenomenal!! She had a big job defining this role as her own after Betty, and she did it beautifully! I never got to see this on Broadway, so I thank you for uploading this!!! This is such a brilliant show!!!!!
YESS QUEEN SJB
I love her
OMG,I´m dying!!! I love her.
Stephanie J. Block is simply AMAZING!! What an incredible performer. I saw the original Drood (in 1985/86?) and I loved it - but this performance outshines even the original, in my opinion. Love it.
Magical
Amazing. Amazing.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Chills.
OBSESSED! This is simply amazing!
An E doesn't scare me
I agree with everything you say, thank you for putting this up
I was fortunate enough to see this production in person. Second row orchestra. It was so much fun. Everyone in that production seemed to be having such a wonderful time that it simply translated as pure fun and joy. Loved it. I don’t know why but I can’t help but feel that Betty Buckley kind of ruined this role for all who followed her. When Buckley hits that note it just soars, effortlessly to the rafters. As much as I love SJB, and even though her note soared, too, though maybe not quite as much, you could feel a bit of the effort. Firmly planting herself for the note, and using a slight but noticeable scoop to get there. It was impressive but somehow not quite as thrilling as I had hoped it would be.
some notes sound like Betty...isn´t it? btw she is perfection!!!
Stephanie is also a great Elphaba!
I think the song works better in this key, honestly.
I'm still salty she didn't win the Tony
que mulher
so it WAS an e
and she still nailed it ._. ofc

@@millynericka7983 THANK YOU O MUCH I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR IT FOR FOREVAAAAAAAAA
So was Rosa the one who wanted him dead (in the voting) and is that why every one is laughing and Rosa looks embarrassed?
Well Rosa meant to kill jasper but it was really Edwin she killed because he was wearing Jasper's coat that night
No I was asking if Rosa was the one voted for killer the night this was filmed
Oh lol. Yeah it was Rosa, I seen this recording before.
Cheyenne Printup yeah, that's right!
Qadir Branham hey.... u got a link to that? 👀👀 lol
Do you happen to have this full show and be willing to share?!!
did you ever find it? pleaseeeeee
An E doesn't scary
Do you have the full show?
I'm trying to figure out a way to message you- but I can't...I wanted to chat with you about getting the whole show for some work research. I'm kind of desperate.
Please respond if you see this and let me know if there is anything you can do for me. I would so appreciate it.
I would love to see the full recording!! Regret not getting to see this when it was on broadway.
What theater was this in
Nick Cortazzo Studio 54. Saw it. Fabulous.
DO ANY OF YOU KNOW IF THERE IS A GOOD B00TLEG OF THIS REVIVAL PLEASE IM DESPERATE :(
what is her big note?
pretty sure its a D5
@@orianamorris-johnson1424 Eb5! correction right here it’s a D5 but originally it’s an Eb5
This show looks so good, but Jessie Muller’s brow face ruins it for me. Like I get she’s playing a character who is in brown face but still.
I love SJB but this song sucks in the context of this show.
I love SJB but HATE that they lowered the key for the ending. So underwhelming!
Jesse Dalton I saw Betty in 1987 and Stephanie in 2013. They were both astonishing but if I had to choose, Stephanie’s lower key is simply a better listen. Underwhelming you say? What utter nonsense.
@@randyseay3115 In complete agreement, Jesse Dalton. MOST underwhelming. Original is so much more exciting; I'm still thrilled by Betty's singing, 35 years on. (To say otherwise is "utter nonsense"! ;-) ) By the way, you may have seen that a couple new good-quality clips have been uploaded of Betty singing this in the original production: the full song, and a reel of Drood TV reviews that includes the end of it.
