You know why I love this musical?
It gives women a chance to play men, even if they happen to have rather womanly voices and faces
It gives coloured people/minorities a chance on the stage
This show is a bit of everything
And as an aspiring actress who is gender fluid and a racial minority, this show is nothing less than perfect!
Most of the time they have white people play Helena and nevile though 🙄
I wish many more shows would cast race/gender-blind. When I've seen it happen the results are always terrific. It's theater for cryin out loud.
To be fair, both I believe both Broadway productions had white people as the Landless siblings
This can be defended though as it’s supposed to be an 18th century theatre troupe and none of them have any idea what this foreign nation is
Of course, you can really have an actor of any race play any of these characters

I agree!! Im a trans guy pre medical transition so i have a pretty high voice and this would be absolutely perfect for me.
