I am completely blown away by this tiny camera's video quality, hue and stability (I am aware that this is largely due to the post-processing, though). Kudos to the hat clip mount design, which pretty much emulates the POV, which in my opinion looks more "natural" than the chest view. 3:47 "Only when filming in pro video mode" -- This is ridiculously crucial! Not after hours of try and error did I finally realize this...
When in doubt, always good to start with "pro" mode haha. I fortunately chose to film in pro mode before realizing it was necessary for post edits, but I was really amazed at how much I could move the screen. I really liked the cycling cap mount angle. It doesn't weigh down your neck at all and is slightly lower than the normal top of helmet mount.
Great review! The chief thing to bear in mind with this tiny camera is that it's designed to capture short clips from unusual placements. The short clip factor is dictated by having a lot of processing going on in a small, sealed space. So long shots can cause overheating. And because it's so tiny, obviously the battery is small, and they use built in memory to keep size down and to make waterproofing easier. If you approach it understanding those inevitable design limitations, treating it as a tool for a particular job, then you should be very pleased with it. But if you want longer shots and 4K and don't mind a bigger form factor, a normal action cam is the way to go. What this camera does demonstrate very well is the advantages of a circular sensor, meaning that you shoot first and then decide on orientation later. If DJI put a circular sensor on the next version of the Action, that would be very interesting!
Great points! It's a specific tool for specific purposes, but the circular sensor and being able to adjust the position in post was a really cool feature.
@@TwoWheelCruise I meant to say how much I admired your dexterity in swapping mounts and hand-holding the device while on the move! And in case you didn't notice, the camera fits into the helmet clip much more firmly one way rather than the other - and it's not marked. This is great. Now I can also go on a solo trip without having a fear of someone might steal my camera, I can just clip it on my shirt and move around easily. The technology we have now are amazing!!
As Insta360 gets going and developing more systems it's a good thing you're here doing PR for them, that makes it FEEL worth it to them, I'm sure. Within a couple of years they should have addressed most concerns about battery life and storage space. The clip at the end of Thuong saying ''You idiot!'' was a perfect place to fade out lol. I love that it has a magnet that you can attach to you hat and you don't have to spend money on a gimbal or a mount, that's very convenient. I was going to save up for a gopro 8 but now I'll just buy this and a small mic at the same time. Thanks for making the video!
Great camera for just carrying with you all the time , need to get one before I go on holiday again . helmet clip is the best view and can record what you looking at much better .
That’s really impressive. So convenient with the magnetic chest mount or the cap mount. Especially when you compare it to the bulky GoPro chest mount. Both are super easy and the camera itself is so small. Both angles are good. Always nice to see the bars in the shot but also good to be able to look around naturally and film with the cap mount. I would use something like this myself if I ever get around to reviewing local bike infrastructure.
It was so nice to be able to film videos like this without being stuck in the chest mount strap all day. It's really nice to see new innovative ideas for action cameras :)
I like how you can get such cool shots with a small device but the low memory space and battery time is a bummer. They should have included a microSD card slot.

It holds up well, but they have secure mount options as well if you're worried about it.
I wish that you would talk about the battery life how long it on how long the battery will last and also how many hours of recording can you get on the battery life. And can you change out the memory card or something more?
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
We really want to get one of those, but can't find them in Vietnam yet. We encountered a local scammer who said he had them and wanted us to pre-pay before he shipped (a box of rocks, probably). We passed. Anyway, love the footage from the cap mount. Thanks for the thorough review; can't wait to pick one up. 👍
That would have been an expensive box of rocks... Hope you can get one soon, they're really fun to film with!
Ah the good ole box of rocks scam. I bought a “PS3” this way. Once.
