I saw her Yves Saint Laurent private collection and other Haute Couture pieces that were on view at the De Young Museum at Golden Gate Park. It was just dynamic, sensational, amazing, superb, and beautiful. This was years ago but felt lucky enough to view it for the fashion aficionado that I am it was a dream like experience. It was the closest thing to meeting Nan & Yves in person. The craftsmanship and detail work on the garments was so precious. Hope some day that they bring this to LACMA. San Francisco has some incredible exhibits and this was definitely one of them!👗🇫🇷🇺🇸🪡🧵🌁🌉
Lucky Nan! She had the means and she still was in time to be active on that scene :YSL died after her, Valentino retired after her own death, maybe she could have gowns purchased chez Balenciaga, and chez Galliano's Dior as well. We could go on remembering the greats because nowadays, even with big allowances, there is nothing to buy. Ok, there are a few Lebanese, Indians and Chinese ateliers still making high fashion, but that's not Haute Couture! She could wear what - at this moment in time - is impossible to find. Money and taste are not enough if history goes against your dreams. Do you know what I mean?
40% off. To be exact. (Or if u were thin enuff to fit into the sample garment the model had worn in the show...then u could REALLY make a saving. Approaching 60% off the intended selling price.)
Although some may have been discounted. A “discount” from a $20,000 dress or a $5,000 blouse still requires major money to purchase. It’s not like she was shopping at a bargain basement.

love this! really taking us inside the world of a couture client
You can hear the voice of Jeanne Beker narrating this so it's a segment from Fashion Television. She really got inside that world like nobody else.

@@richardm239 the tax deductions for charitable contributions are great. And you don’t have to be rich to benefit from them either.
Lol
You can’t be too rich or too thin
