Hello Angela: Your ability to be moved to tears by music, lyrics, movies, etc. is not cause for embarrassment or shame. Empathy is not a fault, it is a superpower, and your viewers love you for it...as well they should. All the best to you , dear lady!

I had totally forgotten about this song.I haven't heard it in decades, but once I heard it again I remember it well. Thanks for reminding me of a song I used to listen to all the time and am very glad to hear again and it's definitely going on my play list. And,as for the crying,I used to cry every time I listened to it and I cried again now.I am a guy,but I'm not afraid to admit that, yes a song made me cry.Loved hearing it again and loved your reaction.

Tears are the sign of a soft heart, and that's a good thing. If this song doesn't touch a person's heart, there must not be a heart to touch. You have a heart that works the way it's supposed to work. Blessings to you.

My sister liked this song a few years after it came out. Little did I know, I would look back
and remember this song when she died having her son back in 1981. She was
little, and beautiful, she looked like Debra Padget. Needless to say, this song makes
    me so sad.

Wow, I'm surprised I don't recognize this song - or maybe it's just been so long that I forgot having heard it. Super catchy and incongruously upbeat given the lyrics. Apparently, the song was first recorded and made a hit by country artist Dickey Lee, then later the same year (1975) Austin Roberts recorded his version, which was also a hit.
Fun fact about Austin Roberts: he had songs featured in the old Scooby-Doo cartoon series, including the theme song.

I’m going to look up that version. Austin Robert’s voice sounds like the version I knew but the word “Crazy” used in the part about the party seems wrong to me. I always thought it said Birthday party.

I was compelled to leave a message this time because of you and your reaction! The way you reacted at the end of this song really got to me! If only everyone could be so transparent and open about how they feel inside, this life and world would be a better place! Maybe one day people will see the error of their ways and be the way their supposed to! Im a real idealist, and Im still hoping that you'll play Lost In Music by Sister Sledge with the beautiful Joni Sledge singing lead! Goodbye!

I think anyone who requests a sad song for you should put a tearjerker warning on it! This really is unfair to take a lady that's emotional about certain kinds of songs and request the saddest one they can come up with and not warn her. This one is a lot like "Honey" in that it depicts a widower who's remembering back on his life with his loved one after she dies. Tearjerkers used to be very popular and always did well on the charts.

I'd forgotten about this one. The 70s were weird that way. Post 'Love Story,' music and movies became a little rife with tragic stories of dying young. ' Brian's Song,' 'Sunshine,' there were a lot of movies and lots of songs, too. The one that got me as a kid was 'Seasons in the Sun.' ugh. Anyway, I'm sorry that affected you so much. Art that elicits no reaction is not really doing its job. ♥️
