Also the ✨perfect✨ child does mistakes but tries to hide them or fixes them because “how could YOU do that?” It turns you into a bitter person because all you did was try to meet your parent’s expectations and now you’re a machine that can’t be as free to make mistakes as the others, I literally learned to be sneaky so ny mistakes can’t “disappoint” my family
I love the imagery in this movie. There are so many layers to some of the songs, especially Luisa's Under Pressure song. Also did you notice that, throughout the movie, Abuela was always wearing that black shawl? She took it off at the end after reconciling with Mirabel. It showed that all throughout her life she was still in mourning and had never let go of her husbands death. She was still holding on to her grief and fear. The line in the song at the end, "But stars don't shine they burn was such an important message. When you shine, you are reflecting someone else's light, it isn't your own. But when you burn you are radiating your own light. Everyone had to learn that they weren't a reflection of Abuela or the name Madrigal. They were all special on their own.
While the 2010s had its Neo-Renaissance Era with a slew of animated hits, Encanto proved to be the gem in the 2020s for Walt Disney Animation Studios. The music of Lin-Manuel Miranda is a total standout of this movie alongside the performance of Stephanie Beatriz as lead heroine Mirabel Madrigal!
I like to think that there is some poor, inept wizard, who never managed to successfully cast levitation, and was totally stymied by the surrounding mountains, returning to his guild a failure because he couldn't reach Abuela to speak to her about her 50 year magical miracle warranty.

Technically Abuela’s abilities is being the candle holder and able to talk to the house. Thats why people think Mirable’s gift is the same as Abuela’s. Since she can also talks to the house/created a new one when she got her door.
I don't know why talking to animals is made to be so overpowered, because at least to me I think that "talking to animals" and "controling animals" are two different things, beacuse what if he ask an animal to do something and they refuse?
i think part of it is him having a strong connection to them 💚 especially since he’s only 5, he’s so pure of heart. If he grew up and lost his way, maybe he could potentially use them for evil
