I think that Mirabel is her Abuela's successor--neither of them have powers, but both were sources of the miracle. Abuela's miracle was wrought by grief, pain, tragedy and sacrifice; Mirabel suffered as well, but the source of her miracle stemmed from her hope, love, strength, and determination. The house was rebuilt--as a family & community--with stronger foundations based on love, and Mirabel created her new miracle with the doorknob. I feel like Isabella resented Mirabel for being giftless--with those gifts come extra expectations & burdens, right? She probably assumed Mirabel had more freedom & felt less pressure, so she's actually secretly jealous. Anyway, your reaction is one of the best I've seen. You're smart af and you kept me smiling the whole time! Subbed
@@TheKidLaw22 It's clear that you put a lot of work into your videos, and I recognize and appreciate that. I hope you and your channel grow to great heights, 'cause you deserve it!
@yummi4tunekookie Yes, and also, mirable can communicate with Casita through her emotions. If she is falling apart, casita is falling apart. If she is happy, Casita is happy.
Little context about Colombia that explain the first scene and the song of caterpillars: Colombia has been in a horrible war with itself since +50 years ago, that developed in various illegal army groups knows as guerrillas and Paramilitaries whom were, allegedly, support by the government, this war let the people between, specially the farmers who were forced to abandon their houses, this is known as desplazamiento forzado; that's why the abuela and abuelo run away but he got killed in the process :c thats the reality of a lot of families in this beautiful country.
Wow that’s so sad, crazy to thing Disney added that bc how tragic that had to been… But I’m still glad they are adding all different types of cultures and backgrounds into these movies
We had a literal assembly in our school about ENCANTO. I’m not even lying. The teacher, FOR A WHOLE HOUR, talked about stress and mental well-being, using Luisa and Isabella as models. We were all just sitting there like:👁️👄👁️
Here’s my theory: Abuela and Mirabel have the same power. They are both connected to Casita (their house). Abuela’s candle created Casita and Mirabel rebirthed Casita by putting back the door handle. edit: I want to add that this also gives a solid reason as to why they needed to embrace to restore the magic
Lin-Manuel wrote Surface Pressure for his older sister. He talked about one Christmas where their parents woke her up early to put together his He-Man playset so he'd be able to play with it when he woke up so it's like a thank you/apology song Edit: Bruno is in the background of Dolores' verse. He's downstairs heading to the stairs and then he's upstairs dancing. Also my dumb ass didn't even realize Bruno went to the wedding as Hernando because his hood was on
Of the current generation, only the 3 sisters had main songs about 'gift' issues - feeling the pressure because of strength, trying to always be perfect, and not getting a gift. Dolores had a bit about her super hearing, but her brothers didn't seem to have any problems.
27:41 if you listen carefully, as Bruno sings "Let it Go" in the background you can hear the melody to "Let it go". such a small detail, such a big bond :)
I think you are literally the only one with a reaction video of this movie who didn’t cry, but I actually still liked your video. You made it funny, entertaining, and relatable. Nice :)
This movie always gets me, same with coco but the music here is so fun and the message? Such a sad but heartfelt movie and I love the ending where they take a family photo and its blurriness captures their newfound imperfections. So good
I don't know how much you ended up understanding by the end, but I like talking about Encanto so I'm gonna take the opportunity: First: Isabela is mean to Mirabel for the same reason that Mirabel always has that "I'm so done" expression pretty much every time Isabela appears-- they're both jealous of each other. Specifically, Isabela is jealous that no one expects anything of Mirabel; she's free to do whatever she wants, make mistakes without any consequences, and just generally be herself. Of course, the fact that Mirabel has such antagonistic expressions before Isabela has even done anything to her probably doesn't help their relationship-- as hilarious as it is for us, I think most people would be annoyed at someone who always looks at them like Mirabel looked at Isabela early on. There's also implications that the pressure Isabela is under came about because of Abuela's reaction to Mirabel's giftlessness, and that before then she wasn't quite as hard on everyone. Beyond that, Isabela's first line is basically the same thing that Abuela says to Mirabel shortly afterward, just with more attitude, and all of her worst moments are a direct consequence of having internalized Abuela's opinions of Mirabel. None of that excuses how she treats her little sister, of course-- Mirabel is completely blameless for all but one of those reasons, and even then Isabela is a bit too harsh-- but I honestly don't think the average person would fare much better in her situation. Second: From Isabela's point of view, her section in "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is probably as negative as anyone else's. She has every reason to believe she had the only prophecy that was false at that point. Alternatively, she might've been trying to convince herself that an engagement with Mariano was, in fact, the life of her dreams. There are a lot of ways to approach what Isabela might've thought of her prophecy, but I think it makes the most thematic sense that she saw it negatively. Third: Camilo kept going babyface because all of the family's powers have been going haywire since the dinner. That's why Isabela blames Mirabel for Luisa's power loss and Mariano's nose (wrongly, but from her perspective quite reasonably)-- remember that Abuela is blaming Mirabel for everything going wrong with the miracle, and at that point in the movie Abuela's opinions are Isabela's. Four: Yeah, the house breaking apart was Abuela's fault. The pressure she was putting on everyone to preserve the miracle over actually caring for her family was causing them to fracture. The cracks in Casita are reflections of cracks in the family. Don't worry about crying, by the way. It's perfectly fine to cry during any circumstances; there's no shame in it. Heck, I once read a comment by someone saying that they don't trust anyone who doesn't cry at "Dos Oruguitas", and (...) well, I'd expand that to "anyone who doesn't cry at _some_ point in this movie", but yeah. No one who has a soul can watch Encanto for the first time and not cry.
26:23 I love how all people react to the appearance of a butterfly, in the same way: silence, cry, mourning, a butterfly vibrates and suddenly wakes up and screams "Butterfly"
Tbh I think Mirabel is the next candle holder or whatever u wanna call it because one at the start of the movie Abuela's door was right in the middle of the house and then at the end Mirabel was in the center of the front door, two I don't know if anyone else noticed but Abuela and Mirabel are the only ones we ever see talk directly to the house, and three if you look closely at the candle it has a butterfly on it specifically a Mariposa and Mirabel's clothes are covered in butterfly's even at the end of the movie what are they surrounded by? Butterfly's! The same ones that just so happen to be on the candle. But you know, just a thought 🤷🏾♀🤷🏾♀🤷🏾♀
I think the reason why Mirabel’s candle didn’t work was because she rubbed her hands on her dress after touching the candle and that just washed the magic away or smth.
There's a phenomenon in film-making called 'the telescoping of time'. This means that film-time can speed up or show down as needed. The song 'Waiting for a Miracle' takes place at the speed of thought, but takes up several minutes of screen time, which is why the surrounding characters seem to be frozen in time. Conversely, the months it takes to rebuild Casita is depicted in the three or so minutes of the song 'All of You'. Other notable examples are 'Odd Man Out' (1946), which covers 12 hours in less that 180 minutes, and the Harry Potter films, which cram an entire school year into 3 1/2 hours.
I think we can all agree the music is spectacular. Just incase you didn’t know it was written and composed by Lin Manuel Miranda, he’s written musicals and acted in movies ex: mary poppins returns. i rlly recommend listening to some of his other productions, suck as moana, Hamilton, In the Heights, and Viva 😊
