If he had not done that U had this 3 Super stars get to the Finals in my opinion.
Richmond a player of 23-34 points per game a great Athlete a hall of fame Player
Chris Mullin and one of the greatest handlers ever Tim Hardway - Would pass the ball and get those three Pointers
That destroyed Golden State . Time was traded to Miami geting them to the Eastern finals.

There's even a phrase "Nellie Ball" that is credited to his innovation with the point forward and playing 3 guards, and playing the center on the perimeter... creating mismatches all over the court and creating space. Wessthead's system was basically run and shoot, press 94 feet... Both were high scoring offenses, but completely different systems.

Then in the off season, they trade Richardson to Charlotte, destroying the chemistry and from there they slowly went back to being sorry again. nellie played a big role in creating some great warriors teams and then dismantling them shortly afterwards
run tmc ... he traded richmond right when that trio were on the upswing, would they been title contenders, who knows but they were probably going to be very good for the foreseeable future had they been kept intact
then nellie got lucky a few years later when the warriors traded for webber but then after his rookie season when warriors won 50 games webber got traded as he couldn't get along with nellie ... that one hurt as it looked like spree and webber would be the next great guard and big man duo for the next decade in the NBA ... warriors went into a tail spin for the next decade
we believe ... nellie made the same mistake with run tmc trading a guard, this case richardson, for a young big in wright in 2007, and that core was never the same after that first playoff run especially when baron signed with the clippers after the 2007/08 season when he was a free agent
but i guess nellie made up for it and more when he was one of the key individuals in the warriors brass when the team drafted curry in 2009 and most importantly kept him instead of the rumored trade sending curry to the suns for amare which at that time would've given the warriors a "big 3" of ellis, jackson, amare which probably would've been really good for a few seasons but likely never nba title contenders
instead warriors kept curry and well we know the history with that ... 4 NBA titles and curry is a top 10 NBA player of all time
