  • In this guide, i hope to show you Simple Tips to Help you get More Lugworms When Bait Pumping. From the basics of bait pumping to more advanced techniques, we'll cover everything in this beginner's guide to bait pumping fresh lugworms.
    If you're new to bait pumping and want to get started quickly, this guide is for you. I will walk you through the process of bait pumping. By the end of this guide, you'll be pumping fresh lugworms like a pro! pump your own bait for those beach or boat fishing trips and save your self money
    Hasting's beach is sandy at low tide also a lot of stones mixed in LOL and can easily destroy your pump. If you can make yourself up a little box of spares to take down the beach with you or take a spare pump if possible
    This is what i use
    I use a 22mm copper bait pump
    also a spare pump
    10mm socket for adjusting pump pressure
    spare pump seals + nuts
    18 Litre bucket great for washing worms afterwards

    Does air pressure and wind direction have effect on worm casts and depth?. If so what are preferred conditions.

    • @hastingsangler
      @hastingsangler  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi definitely pressure plays a big part has it gets colder I find the worms go a bit deeper and not so many cast show as for weather I find a good sw wind helps them show more now is the time it gets harder I have had day in the winter where I have not seen a cast good luck

      Hi it all depends where you pump on my local beaches on the small tide we get the small worms with the occasional big 1 but most of the decent worms come on the bigger tides winter time is the hardest time for worming

    Years ago when i went bait digging i might see one other person , two at the most now if i went pumping might be a dozen or more , beds where people were reguarly pumping a 1000 worms a tide now your scratching to find casts , find it pretty sad , the fella that actually invented that 22mm pump was local to me bet he wished he had patented it lol

    • @hastingsangler
      @hastingsangler  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi I agree digging with a spade was a skill and the worm beds were full of quality worms .the bait pump I think has killed of the worms any one can try now with some success I've been down there on really big tides and not a worm in sight just sand now if you find a good spot you have to keep it quite

      @@hastingsangler yeah i know bud think im just getting old and nostalgic , much simpler world back then i rarely use lug these days , pulling in dogfish after dogfish every chuck u can chuck any old bait on lmao i still have the odd session using the old spade passed down from me dad digging razor which is one thing the masses aint cottoned on to lol

      i must admit the worms are not like they use to be only good thing is winter time they get a chance to recoup and the small tides will help a bit

      @colinbrown4719 3 месяца назад

      @@hastingsanglersurely it’s just a case of farming ?, like a farmer has fields One Growing , one Fallow ( or more ? ). So the answer is divide the beach up and ban the bait digging for one year in section 1 , allow bait digging in section 2 etc , etc, etc, swap over the banned area of bait digging the following year , it is not rocket science .

    • @hastingsangler
      @hastingsangler  3 месяца назад

      @colinbrown4719 theres some good points there but with only a few real big tides a year somewhere sand beds don't get touched for years and the sand is always moving every day the beach looks different.they are on about bringing a license out for commercial diggers and for the normal fisherman a limit of 200woems per tide
