Nice to see you back. Please do not get an apartment without thinking about service charges etc and with your dog it can be a big adjustment (neighbours complaining about footsteps and no garden). Why not rent your house/change your mortgage to buy-to-let and then buy a old house. If you get a old house whatever your budget is triple it. I'm doing a 1950s house currently and the costs are eye watering (cost of living) if your going to renovate at least. Its hard living in a building site and it will be worth it but boy it sucks :-). Good luck however as that will be a new chapter.
Apartment is off the cards! Had a momentary thought and then pulled out! I’ve heard always double or triple the budget you’re thinking for an old house, hope your Reno is going well! We are super excited for the next chapter just figuring out our immediate next steps when the house sells! X
