      @@wlk2408 I'm not insisting they tried to lose on purpose or anything crazy like that. I think the boks played to win but with a very limited game plan which had a 2 fold intention. Intentions were to give Mannie pressure kicking experience in a game that doesn't matter and to hold card close to chest for real knock out games. Why else would SA with 7 fresh forwards only start using rolling mauls in the last 5 minutes of the game. Why when SA locks were winning Irish lineouts did they just stop contending for them. These are very odd choices by the team and coaching staff and need to be considered. Look Ireland might have been holding a few things back themselves and this all just speculation of course. But end of the day SA coaching staff are not stupid so why give away all you card in a nothing game.

    Mack Hansen was taken out off the ball for SA try that's 7 points gone.
    JVDF had his hand stamped on, yellow card likely if picked up.
    If SA 55+ kick doesn't awkwardly bounce off the post SA don't get massive free pressure.
    If Ireland take the easy 3 points from tee rather than going for a7 with 5m linouts (that malfunction) thats likely 6 more points on top of the 5 lead.
    If South Africa are caught boring in and up on scrum no penalty for them.

      Lots could be said here and there but all just speculation. Like for instance I truly believe watching Rassie constantly telling team to go for kicks and not touch that he was trying to give Manie more pressure experience while holding back crucial parts of the boks game plan. After all why would you not tell a team with 7 fresh forwards to use their most successful weapon in the driving maul until the dying minutes of the game? But like I said this is just my speculation.

    • @prudeuncle
      @prudeuncle Год назад

      @@pityfool23 I don't think they were trying to lose the game no. The players gave it everything they had but the game plan was simplified to give Manie maximum exposure to pressure kicks and minimum use of driving maul trys to keep those tactics under wraps. Hence why at the end of the match they finally started kicking to touch and going for driving maul to try to get the win. It's just speculation as the coaches arnt stupid and surely would understand that a huge benefit of having a 7-1 bench is for set piece like scrums and driving mauls. This is how we thrashed NZ. So my thinking this there has to be a very good reason this was not attempted in this game.

      @@tevildo45 SH 2 NH 0. As a bok supporter I'm worried about France I do think France will take win specially with home game host advantage but then again I did think Wales and Ireland were going to win tonight's games.

      Noticed that BOD and Flannery have been major downers on Ireland's achievements in this game. "rub of the green", "rode our luck" etc. Could be jealousy that although they were great players, they were part of an Irish team that wasn't capable of even a fraction of what this Ireland team is acheiving.

    Props to BoD for willingness to say the unpopular blooming obvious.
    You know its your day when you get 6 points vs 0 from scrum penalties while holding on for dear life when not collapsing, or when your center collapses the match-winning maul from the side and lifting the opponent’s leg.
    Nevertheless, Ireland are a truly great side and played with exceptional craftiness and admirable physical bravery.
    We must improve and be good enough to win without the 70/30 calls and below going against us.

    SA was robbed at the end of the game ,that maul was definitely a penalty at the end there and the ball was out and he ended the game .Sorry but the ref favoured the Irish ,period

    You guys all attacking BOD for his legitimate comments. He isnt saying ireland are crap he is simply pointing out that the game really could have gone either way which most neutral supporters would agree. Both sides can bring up bad call by officials but yhe result is what it is. I think Irish fans should stop worrykng about what the result means and rather ask themselves why sprinboks only chose to use rolling mauls in the last 5 minutes of the game. Maybe ask themselves why locks stipped contending for irish lineouts when they were winning them? Or you can remain ignorant to those oddities and be totally shocked when the boks play you again and dont use yhe same limited game plan.

    • @rmagfhloinn
      @rmagfhloinn Год назад

      Might have been the fact that Ireland have an excellent maul defence, and that the ref spotted the Boks (Etzebeth specifically) kept infringing to compete for the first few lineouts and ended it.

      @@rmagfhloinn I'm just speculating mate but yea I doubt that was the reason. The fact that they finally started pushing for driving mauls towards the end when they realised they were going to lose kind of indicates otherwise to me.
