Ireland … forever the best in Irish eyes … but can only manage it in the off-season in between World Cups… you know - the time when other teams are building/experimenting/expanding depth and are not as intense as they would be at WC time. It doesnt matter when the world cup is just another competition surely the number of victories and the style of rugby is what makes a great team like the all blacks. The world cup depends in a large part on injuries and a lot of luck. To go to the matchex week in and week out to watch them is an honour.

As for luck needed … the Irish needs only the officials to assist with winning as has been seen in some matches the Irish have “won”.. Ireland may play well in the offseason, but they still have to pass the Q-finals … again they peak way before a WC and embarrass themselves at the WC. Will happen again…
We beat South Africa & Australia without 5/6 of our best guys playing. We beat NZ 3 times in the last 18 months. Ireland are still building and growing. We are playing well but we haven’t shown our best yet. We have world class players in almost every position now and our bench is incredibly strong. Andy Farrell isn’t making the same mistakes in this lead up to the World Cup as Joe Schmidt made working alongside him int he previous two World cups. Irish people have totally rallied behind this Irish team and no one is getting carried away with wins. We are being confident and trying to expand our gameplan, which has been evident in our previous games against the top teams. Rome wasn’t built in a day but I am confident that we are quietly and confidently building towards this World Cup and now getting ahead of ourselves.
