After years of living in motels, a family finally got their own RV. Then covid-19 came.

  • After the coronavirus shutdown in Florida cost Sergine Lucien's husband, Dave Marecheau, his two restaurant jobs, they lost their RV and sense of stability. The couple moved from motel to motel in Kissimmee with their two children, but when they ran out of money, they resorted to sleeping in their car. They're one of thousands of Orlando-area families living on the brink of homelessness. Read more: wapo.st/virus-family-homeless...

I know how it feels to be homeless because i was homeless living on the streets and did have anything to eat sometimes. Had to sleep in the park and had to ask for food and to take a bath. I felt like taking my own life i had to go and stay in a Shelter for 4 months i worked and saved up my money to get my own place so i got my own place and it will be 1 year next month. So i know the feeling

Start learning something that will give u additional income so you never go back to that stage. even if small like 300 _400 each month. Learn about investment. Learn and learn. People who beat the lower middle class life and transition to middle class often combine multiple incomes.

@@lunaoyashii Luna, I wish that I was amazing. But, last fall my husband went into the kitchen and I followed him and he was on his knees. He couldn't speak or move so, I laid him on the floor. I said, I love you. He mouthed, I love... And, he died with my hands on his chest. I have been all alone since that day. No one to help me grieve. No one willing to listen to my pain. I am very in tune with what is important in life and extremely moved by other people suffering. I can't bear it because, I know how that feels. You need something desperately and no one will help. Father in heaven, please help this beautiful family to find their new home. May they always have a roof over their head and something to eat. And, I thank you for showing me that some of my brothers and sisters are suffering more than I am. In Jesus name I pray. Sincerely, Carly

The Chosen One Illuminati millions of people who live in a house understand the struggle of keeping shelter, food and other basic needs and certainly don’t take it for granted. People get up all week and work, either single parent or 2 parents to got to work to pay the bills. Most of the time it is pay check to pay check so losing the house could happen in a matter of months. They have the stress of the job, then the stress of the work in the house and the kids. Nothing is taken for granted when you have to do it all yourself and don’t get any assistance.

A hard working person who sacrificed their time and effort to afford a nice car will value their car vastly more than Paris Hilton. I am perplexed Why this is not obvious

If they were drug addicts they could get free housing. WELCOME TO AMERICA !!! I had to live in motels at age 12 and 13 because my dad who made $2000.00a week as a construction boss decided to abandon us for another family in Georgia. Yep, it sucks when you have to watch other people waste so much money to party and have fun while you are stuck in a motel feeling like you are in a nightmare. As a child who always had a decent home until then , it was hard. What's worse is that we saw over and over waste and we had to beg for help. People who were " allowed" to steal food stamps and get free housing when they didn't need it always got it and we were picked on for being all women. My sister had bi-polar and the cops were nicer back then at least but the housing people treated us like dirt. None of us drank or did drugs either.

Expensive too and you have to endure the sounds people make when they’re fighting next door sometimes you call the cops, and the moaning of people doing their business, and the loud bed banging when they’re horny. -So I just read the entire longgg article and it’s nothing like this video. Knowing that the husband here, Dave was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge after Sergine called the police right before coronavirus is sending a different message. I think the problem is him. The article even quoted him being rude to the young boy, but declined to be interviewed on camera? Still feel for the woman and kids here but for that man ... no sympathy.

@buldglvr Or is it the woman? I do believe in equal rights why can't she get out and work? Why is it always the man's fault? The old tradition that it's mans responsibility to take care of women flew out the door years ago with the feminist movement.

Jack Mcnuggets no, there are supplemental benefits for families who make a low wage, have seen it for years, food stamps, Section 8, free medical. No one needs an economic class if you work and you know some of your co workers get this help. It’s not negative tones, its facts and being free to state facts.

Isaiah King feminist movement had a lot of bad aspects, abortion etc but they never advocated men not work for to support their own children. This woman seems far from a feminist, doesn’t sound like she works, acts powerless and accepts a no account man. Feminists taught women have your own money and don’t put up with a bum. That’s not poison.

Around three months ago me and my family were homeless for a few years we would stay at motel 6’s and sometimes in our car, ever since my dad was deported my mom struggled to keep a roof over our heads and food in our mouths, thankfully we found a home before covid-19 got worse

That boy is intelligent and has a bright future. Someone said there is an article about them and it’s pretty clear the dad is an issue, rude to the son, domestic abuser, refused to be interviewed on camera....if only this mom could get away she could make it. But when you’ve been put down for so long you don’t believe in yourself. She already feels like a failure. But that boy, he is wiser beyond his years. I have a 12 yr old son, and I can see the difference, it’s amazing how your hardships can mature you. I did notice he enjoyed drawing. Is there anyway to send him a care package? My son also loves to draw and I’d love to send him a sketchbook and some pencils/pens and a little case to keep it in. Something small so it can go with him in hotels and cars, but something he can call his own. They literally have no toys, that breaks my heart.

I know am this young man. Mamma moved my younger sister and I around, staying with friends and family wherever we could. There’s always been feelings of inadequacy over this, yet, even my situation seems a luxury. The part of me that believes in justice, and humanity, needs to see this boy draw, play, keep learning, and live his life as a kid. COME NOW, INTERNET - MY PEOPLE - let’s get this BREAD to the people that need it MOST; because if YOU’RE not ok, WE aren’t OK.

I have lived in vehicles before. What the young man is describing is claustrophobia brought on by poverty. Get out. Be outside everyday. Exercise. Only go there to sleep. That's the only way to maintain the anxiety until you get to a bigger living space. It's not your fault. It's not your families fault. It is the system's fault, but even then, your are the only ones self-aware enough to take responsibility. I think reaching out to the news is the most responsible thing you can do in this situation. It's hard asking for help. Especially in this country, but again it is the system's fault.
