You're definitely an old soul, TGV. That Santos is so classic and iconic in it's design. Definitely fits you and your style perfectly. Sound like a definite keeper 😁
TGV, your content is really an enrichment for watch enthusiasts. Especially in the actual "Watch-RUclipsrs-Flood", where most of them "review" watches they have never worn. Thank you.
So happy to see that your Santos is bringing you so much joy. I also am an old soul. My wife and friends all think I should have been born in the late 30s. I’d have been in my element in the 50s. Not to say I am not happy now, but my style and interests are “dated” to say the least. I have am on the hunt for a Santos myself. I am still learning all the in’s and outs of the Santos family, but I know I want an all steel one. It would complete my collection within my collection. I need a Santos anyway purely for the reason it was designed for a pilot! Thank you for such a quality video and an interesting discussion. As always - Top notch. Be well, my friend. Onward and upward!
That watch looks incredible, honestly. It stands out so much too compared to all the usual watches people seem to be wearing nowadays, which is a huge bonus!
Tried on a new mid-size mechanical Santos recently, and was far more tempted than I expected. I already have a great dress/sport piece that cost a fair bit less than a new Santos. But I love something a little different, especially squared cases. If I were in the market, I'd probably own one. Which is surprising, since I usually can't stand Roman numeral dials. As always, your enthusiasm is evident. Enjoy!
What an excellent production, the intro, the grime inspired music and the stone island is definitely a London euphoria. I digress. The Santos is beautiful, I bought a slightly similar Santos with modified diamonds encrusted bezel for my wife at a good price in Hatton Garden. The Cartier Santos is so elegant and dressy, I absolutely love the Santos.
You can close your eyes and just listen to TGV’s narration and you won’t miss much. This is a compliment to his studious way of communicating. Plus I love the relaxing background music. Thanks TGV, from a very early subscriber.
Yeah I'm still wearing my dlc santos. So I feel you. Selling my AT collection. I'll be done after the new navy/steel Santos gets here. The perfect watch for the jeans and a t shirt gangster like myself.
@@WatchesBeAwesome Quite well considering the ss version is such a scratch magnet. Hides dings pretty good. Note I haven't put it to the gauntlet yet 😉
One phrase to describe your Santos, pure class! I just love how it melds both the Art Deco design with the 80s vibe, 2 things close to my heart. I tend to forget how good square/rectangle designs are and I think I need to add one to add to my collection (alongside my Casio's of that shape!). Great seeing you out and about my friend. Take care and enjoy
I LOVE your video and the fact that you are coming to us from my native city of Philadelphia. All of the history of the wristwatch is in the Cartier Santos. I'm not a collector, I am merely a consumer and a tiny female of advanced years. But I became obsessed with the Cartier Santos, the history and it's incredible style a few years ago and went down the rabbit hole of learning all I could. And learning leads to searching and searching leads to buying.... Not wanting to appear ostentatious at the outset by putting the 29 mm x 41mm Cartier Santos de Cartier Galbee on my little chicken wrist, I purchased (online and vintage of course) a 24mm ladies 2 tone version, a limited edition with a brushed grey dial and raised gold numerals, that immediately became my go to transitional object every morning along with my glasses and morning tea. This version is small but elegant and it's been my daily driver. However, I'd never gotten over dreaming about how rugged and sporty the larger version might look dominating my wrist. Well, I'm sitting here at a ridiculous hour with my latest shopping indiscretion ( my price was VERY good ) it's tags still on, fretting and posing powerfully in the mirror in order to determine if I dare keep it. My thoughts in the wee hours, I could do without the date complication at 6 o'clock. The date read out says '22' ( I need to set it ) but the numbers are too thin and I can't really see them well. I feel like the VI fell off! This size feels large compared to my 24mm making me feel a bit like Minnie Mouse, and it's heavier for sure, but I could probably get used to that. Do I really need 2 of Cartier Santos Galbee? OK nobody needs these, we just WANT them. Maybe I should just sleep on it! ;-)
I have a 19cm wrist, and I wear watches from 34mm (OP Date) to 42mm (Seamaster 300). A big guy like me wearing a small watch may look odd to some people, but who cares! Wear what you like on your wrist!
TGV. The soundtrack on this video is the best yet. Period! Love it he videos and I learn so much from you. My goal by years end is to watch your entire library.
Thank you TGV for such a wonderful review of the Cartier Santos! I personally really love the Cartier Santos and my mother loves to wear her Cartier watch which looks “pure class” even though hers is also quartz!! I love quartz because you don’t have to temper with it as much as mechanicals and they could be on my desk more when I’m casually dressed wearing my mechanical watches and then when I dress up, since I don’t do it as often, I put on a 18k gold quartz Tissot with wonderful finishing and high quality 18k gold bracelet!! Thank you again!! Stay healthy and well as always! Nicholas
In the end I don’t think talking about price is vulgar, as money is life energy. Before buying it is valuable to know how much time one needs to work/trade their life energy for a luxury like a watch. Thanks for the review!
That Santos is an example of the person wearing the watch instead of the watch wearing the person. It compliments your style and personality and suits you perfectly. Congratulations again on a terrific find!
TGV it IS classicly elegant and yes--timeless. I have owned and enjoyed the pleasure of my own 80's-inspired reference #2319 for years now and get just as much pleasure wearing it today as when it was first acquired. I sought this ref. because of its dial, which is silver guilloché sunburst flinquée and shimmers in all environments giving it even more 3 dimensional wrist appeal compared to the white + off-white dials on models from our series. Great video as always! 🙏🏻😁🥂
After a comprehensive revision at Cartier's in Paris, Im proudly wearing for a month now, my late father's Santos carré steel and gold, a gift from my mum, bought in 1981. They kindly accepted to polish the watch, they usually try to sell/change the scratchy parts. it's like new!!
Great video. It’s worth mentioning that those straps are impossibly to attach to this model. The friction pin is set flush against the case. You need a specially made strap for the Santos.
It's a beautiful timepiece. You have stirred my own passion for collecting again. I took delivery of a lovely dressy Lorus yesterday. Not in the same league as your Cartier, but for the price I got it for, I'm amazed at its quality. I didn't want to spent a lot on a dress watch, as its something I don't wear very often. Thanks for another fab video TGV ❤️
If you love it, that is all that matters, anything like the Lorus in Wall Street? I love the Lorus in the movie. Thank you so much Derek, Best regards, TGV
No mate. It's a 39mm x10mm SS with a green sunray dial and gold baton indeces and hands. No Lume and a small date window at 4 oclock. It has a 7 link SS bracelet with a push button deployment clasp. Very understated, but the dial is gorgeous. I'm going to put it on a brown leather strap I think 😊
After seeing your other video of the Santos when you first got it; the Cartier was in the back of my mind. Then this week with the reveal of the new Cartier line, I saw another new Santos. It caught my heart. After seeing all the Santos models; I have to say my new favourite is the Santos de Cartier Blue dial in large. OMG! ❤️
A beautiful watch , always had a soft spot for the santos and the two tone and moon phase makes this so elegant and alluring. Wishing you all the very best in wearing it.
I’m usually a simple and utility first type of person. I gravitate towards field watches and dive watches. But there’s something about the santos line new and old that speaks to me. It’s so different but it pulls me in like a forbidden love
thank you TGV for your watch reviews, after seeing your seiko 7f39 review I went on the search and found a new old stock 7f38-6020 (without the ticking seconds hand.) absolutely love it, thank you
A goal for this year is to add a Santos to my collection for use as a daily wearer. Deciding which to add has taken a lot of thought though. I've watched this video multiple times which both has and hasn't helped my decision making. A date window is too useful during the workday for me to not have one on a daily wearer. However, the current generation only offers that on the largest size while a medium size would work best on my wrist. The Galbee has been considered multiple times but I really do prefer the bezel and lug shape on the current generation and the lower water resistance on the Galbee is a concern as someone that usually doesn't take off his watch when washing dishes, hand washing some garments, washing the car, etc.. I've also considered all steel vs. two tone and while I really like the details of a two tone Santos, for a daily wearer all steel just makes more sense. While I wish Cartier would make a medium sized Santos model with a date complication, I don't have much hope for it and this year has a milestone birthday in it so I'd rather not wait for something that may never come. At this point I'm leaning towards the large, steel bezel blue dial model. While the white opaline dial is classic, it also makes the watch face look larger than it already is which I do not need. The metal numerals on the blue should also help with low light visibility a bit. Now if you ask me again in a month, I might have an entirely different answer. Even if there is no one perfect choice for me, there are many excellent ones.
What a watch, absolutely timeless, the vintageish creamy dial, fuses so well with the quartz technology, making the watch thin and very elegant, but in the same time with great personality cause of the bracelet, davvero un capolavoro 🥂
Hello Tristano! It’s been a while since I had youtube suggestion for your videos but I’m glad I did again! Love the Santos my daily drivers have been my seiko Arnie Pepsi and Luminox atacama 1820 (just got this back from Slatzmans for service I’ve had this watch since I was 13 and fell in love with it again)
The Santos really caught my attention towards the end of last year. Then you got this beautiful example and did a great video on it. I was able to pick one up last week and am loving it. Happy to see a follow up video.
Since you first posted on this classic watch, I reach for mine more often. And I'm enjoying it again. It was my first high-end watch. I bought it in Paris at Cartier Boutique by Place Vendome in 1998. Two tone, gold roman numerals and hands, automatic and Guillaume dial. My only dislike, like you, is the tiny date window. It's superfluous.
What a beautiful and classy watch and video! They are becoming even more appreciated for their timelessness. I always enjoy your videos, the content, production value, and the music. I’ve become a big Cartier fan and I love the hand wound movements: bought the new Santos Dumont XL 2 weeks ago and have worn it almost exclusively since then. Keep those Cartier vids coming!!
Wow, congrats, I don't blame you for not taking it off!!! Thank you so much for the kind and inspiring words regarding the videos. O&U! Best regards, TGV
I own a medium Santos, even with my 7.5” 19CM wrist, it’s a thing of beautify. I prefer the smaller size, though I did wear a large Tank and that was honestly too small for my wrist. XL tank would have been perfect but I didn’t want a date, trying to keep it as a cleaner dial, thus going with the medium. Great video!
Great video TGV! I love the Santos, but my heart still rests with the Tank. I am saving up for one at the moment. It might take a while, but in my mind that just makes it all the better.
This video and the arrival your Santos are so timely! I just got interested in Cartier watches a few days ago. Probably it isn't the most inventive thing to say but I absolutely adore the Tank, I'm head over heals in love with it. I don't even know how it happened - I never had a particular liking for square watches but this one... it's so striking in its traditional simplicity: the Roman numerals, the slightly rounded case, I cannot get over it. Also, I like the fact that some of them are really quite small because it wouldn't do for a watch of this kind if it were as big as, say, the newer Reversos are (also, I happen to have a rather small wrist). Currently, the Tank is certainly not in my range but maybe one day. I really like your Santos as well, it's wonderful that it keeps the old world charm so typical of Cartier watches (that dial...) but at the same time manages to be really quite sporty and different. Anyways, thanks for the review, it's always a pleasure to watch your new video, Sir!
Totally true about "getting pulled back in". After wandering into Michael Spiers of Truro (where I was on vacation for a few days last summer) I swore that I was going to put the brakes on watch collecting - at least for a couple of years. Now I see the newly released Calatrava with a charcoal grey dial. Kudos to you, Patek: you know how to part a fool and (not trivial sums of) his money!🙃
So true, top releases several years in a row, last year the Solarbeat, this year, well EVERYTHING! Lets hope this bring this one back too 🤞🤞 Thank you Guy, Best regards, TGV
Cartier is really coming up fast, I've never thought about it before but since 2 months I have my eye on a Santos my self! Hope could find a great deal like yours..
Loved the shots of the "greenhouse plane", and folks should do an internet search to learn more about it. Fascinating story in itself. Oh, and the watch was cool too!
I'm going to get Carree but after watching this video, I'm in the middle of choosing between Carree & moonphase galbee. I feel like i'm going to looking for moon phase tho. Thanks TGV.
The Santos is just beautiful. The fit and finish is superb and the more you look at it, you really start to get pulled into the way the bracelet and bezel just seem to melt into the watch. It looks like it could have been designed by Salvador Dali. This is a perfect watch for a high end quartz, which I am really a huge fan of.
That watch is a classy little number - nothing wrong with that(!), enjoy it in good health, sir. And it's so true about a quartz watch with no seconds hand - I have a two-hander seiko tank dress watch and without the second hand it's almost like I forget it's a quartz. If a manufacturer could figure out how to make a quartz (in solar even better) second hand sweep like a mechanical it could be a gold mine!
I adore the classy work of art that is the Cartier tank. I am not yet in a position to afford one but I do have a Seiko SXGP11 which is reminiscent of the Cartier tank with its rectangular case. Great vid!
Class. My wife has the Ballon Bleu and the new Must Tank, both fabulous watches. Time to sell some of my collection and invest I feel. Great show as always 👍🏴
Excellent review, Oh I love the Cartier Santos. It would be super cool if you did a review on the Santos 2425 (the Chronoreflex) which I own, I haven't been able to find one single video on RUclips about my piece!
I absolutely adore Cartier, they scream class as far as I'm concerned. I definitely need to add one to my collection, ideally, the Santos Dumont W2007051 which I think would sit beautifully on my larger wrist.
Another classic from you TGV. Can you please do your next TGV collaboration with Long Island watch Mark as a homage to this cartier? That will be awesome for those who can have similar look and feel for a lot less and affordable price range.
Tristano that beat in the intro is serious 😲🔥🔥🔥 I see Santos in the title👀 and It would be rude to not watch from start to finish. I have the new lastest model medium in my collection, as you know. Still my favourite & most versatile piece to date! Hope all is well over there Brother, & families well🇬🇧✊🏾
Yesterday I watched Falling Down with Michael Douglas and I spoted the Piaget on the wrist of the old man playing golf whilst Mr Douglas is crossing the field... great movie as well. The movie is from 1993, by the way.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie, it's poignant, funny, and so so relevant still today. Glad you enjoyed it, I need to buy it on blu-ray so I can spot the Piaget, nice one! Thank you, Best regards, TGV
For some people who work similar times and for multiple clients like yourself, the job makes the date complication all the more important. I check the date multiple times a day because the job necessitates I add it to documentation or remember it again, and looking at a phone (which I loathe) is way slower. So it really depends on the job you are doing, not the days/hours or whether you have weekends off.
In pursuit for my dream the Cartier Tank .. i found a cheap Soviet square Sekonda, with an unusual and record movement the famous slim 2209. Until I will afford the Tank, this is the one for me
An excellent watch, no doubt. I've been circling around a Santos De Cartier for months now, and the only thing holding me back is the question whether I have already arrived at the Cartier stage in my life. That I'm not sure about yet.
Isn't that book about the Cartier family excellent? My all-steel 36mm no-date Santos remains my favorite watch in my collection. The ease with which you can change straps on the new versions makes them all the more versatile, and the new Santos dials this year are magnificent. In general, Cartier's new releases show how they are still innovating in many aspects of watchmaking (the oscillating skeletonized counterweight movement blows my mind), but in the unique elegance of even their classic designs, they truly stand above the rest.
Kingpins assistant in the Dare Devil show wears a Cartier. It would be a interesting video to make on when movie characters get released from jail and they collect their belongings what are the watches they collect. Everyone from Gordon Gekko to Jake Blues collecting his broken digital Timex.
A compelling argument for Cartier, the Santos, and quartz. And I wholeheartedly agree, this watch is not made for utilitarian straps. It is for suits, or even black tie, if you're feeling saucy.
The Casio Oceanus S100 will be that watch that slows me down for an awhile, embarrassingly it’s one of my grails, I prefer quartz, and the S100 is Solar, Titanium, and receives atomic time. 👌🏼
This Santos is a thing of great beauty! Doesn't matter that it's quartz as it doesn't have that annoying quartz seconds hand. Love the colour of the dial (Patina?) and the bracelet. It just works! Probably a bit small for my wrist (and definitely too small for Hugo's!) but it is a classic and suits you down to a tee!
You're definitely an old soul, TGV. That Santos is so classic and iconic in it's design. Definitely fits you and your style perfectly. Sound like a definite keeper 😁

O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
Definitely been a hike in EBay bids for the Santos since your last video. Love your freedom bloomed.
Cartier is on a roll. Love the Santos 👍
So true, top releases several years in a row, last year the Solarbeat, this year, well EVERYTHING!
Lets hope this bring this one back too 🤞🤞
Thank you Guy,
Best regards,
TGV
Thanks. I I have always had a chrono on my list......you pull me to clarity.
Really glad you've found a watch you love so much. I'm in the midst of a watch love affair myself. It's a great feeling!
I do admire the Santos, it is definitely on my future radar. That bracelet makes it for me. Enjoy yours in good health 👍
another great video, great to see an honest evaluation of a top end quartz watch, I have a few TAG quartz love them so much.
Tried this watch a few week ago at a retail store and what can I say, its stunning, iconic, wears amazing. This watch suits you TGV 👌
As an owner of Omega and Rolex I plan to add a Cartier to the collection. Thanks for sharing.
By far my favorite Cartier watch of all time! This one will never leave my collection, unless I can upgrade for the solid gold version.
Haha, this in gold, OMG!
Nice one Dave, enjoy and thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Just when I thought I was out..... hahaha I know that feeling, great show T
I'm going to get Carree but after watching this video, I'm in the middle of choosing between Carree & moonphase galbee. I feel like i'm going to looking for moon phase tho. Thanks TGV.
Great video as always, love your approach, lots of heart, history, culture, never pretentious, always honest.
Thank you so much Michael, very kind of you to say.
Best regards,
TGV
Santos is my absolute favorite watch in my large collection.
A collection is never really done... Gorgeous pick again sir !
I love that watch, the two tone is beautiful.
Excellent review, Oh I love the Cartier Santos. It would be super cool if you did a review on the Santos 2425 (the Chronoreflex) which I own, I haven't been able to find one single video on RUclips about my piece!
Great piece. My bits are chuffed
That will be awesome for those who can have similar look and feel for a lot less and affordable price range.
really loving this Brooklyn drill beat that you have in these videos
What a spectacular watch! Wear it in good health, Squire!
I just bought a Santos Dumont large (still small) full steel with a blue leather strap. Quartz may I add. I absolutely adore this thing
👏👏👏 Congrats and enjoy. Thank you for sharing.
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Thank you Tristano! Amazing to hear fom you directly. I love this channel, keep doing what you're doing
I can now see where Casio got there inspiration for the Gshock Squares.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
For some people who work similar times and for multiple clients like yourself, the job makes the date complication all the more important. I check the date multiple times a day because the job necessitates I add it to documentation or remember it again, and looking at a phone (which I loathe) is way slower. So it really depends on the job you are doing, not the days/hours or whether you have weekends off.
What a great watch! Love the blue secondhand with moonphase! Great video
I always respected the appeal of square watches. Good catch!
Very nice. This is what the W520017 tank is to me. It just hits the spot!
In pursuit for my dream the Cartier Tank .. i found a cheap Soviet square Sekonda, with an unusual and record movement the famous slim 2209. Until I will afford the Tank, this is the one for me
I live in Philly and frequent center city and the art museum always keep an eye out for tgv hoping to run into you someday !!!
An excellent watch, no doubt. I've been circling around a Santos De Cartier for months now, and the only thing holding me back is the question whether I have already arrived at the Cartier stage in my life. That I'm not sure about yet.
Really want a santos. Yours is a thing of beauty!
Great video as always! Been waiting on that ring collection update. Cheers
Love the content and the santos is definitely a watch that you’ve put on my radar. Keep up the videos TGV
I'm never done either, but I sometimes tell myself I am before I disprove it shortly thereafter. Cheers TGV!
Absolutely love my Santos Medium!
Fantastic. Great job! Cartier is my second favorite watch brand.
Another incredible video brother!
Grazie Miguel, I hope this finds you and the family all well!
Sending a big hug, cheers.

I love the special edition Santos with Arabic numerals!
