One thing that might be worth testing is whether the vignetting goes away on the 11mm in non-super-35 mode if you enable all the electronic stabilisation options, as they crop in somewhat 🤔 It might end up cropping it all the way up to ~18mm and look the most stable when handheld. I use the Panasonic 20-60mm lens a lot myself, but with electronic stabilisation off on the S5IIX so it uses the full width. I do have an 18mm f/1.8 which I use with all the stabilisation options turned on and that works well, but it's less flexible for a day out obviously 😅

On the ZV-E1 I set the stabilization mode to Dynamic Active without Super 35 mode (so that I could still film in 4K) and there’s still a little vignetting when you walk. It’s an option if I keep it on a tripod.

Nice comparison! Have you checked out/considered the tamron 20-40mm f2.8 lens? I use it with the ZV-E1 and it’s a really great combo imo! The lens is actually really small considering it’s a zoom prime lens. I was also thinking of getting that new sony 24-50mm f2.8, it looks great! But the Tamron was smaller, lighter and a lot cheaper. You should def check it out! Hope this helps!

That lens just got announced and won’t be available before my trip. I made this video a few months ago before I knew about it 😢

The 24mm is much warmer, was that because of the lighting outside or the lens? Of the three I liked the 16mm but detail and depth of field but the warmth of the footage captured with the 24mm looked nice, too.

Yeah it’s the lighting. I was shooting in a room with a window/natural light. I also like the depth of field in the 24mm, but it’s not as wide as I might want if I happen upon smaller spaces. They’re both super small so I might just bring them 😊

I don’t look good in any lens less than 85mm. My two favorite lenses are 24mm for wide angle and 85mm for close up shots.

Less is more when traveling. Bring 2 lenses MAX. For European cities, you'll need wide more than tele. I'd take the 11mm (for vlog/architecture/interior) + 20-70 (for everything else). I'm willing to bet you end up using the 20-70 90%+ of the time. Also, keep in mind the last thing you want to be doing in a busy European city is advertising you have a lot of camera gear by changing lenses all the time. Repeat after me - less is more...

I thought you had the 20mm f1.8 ? That’s a better vlogging one I reckon, although super wide lenses make faces look kinda off

I didn’t, I only tested it at B&H last month. I really do like it, but not sure about shelling out that money on a single wide angle focal length 😅

@@BadSloucher Yeah thats a fair point, maybe the apsc one then, also can try to use the clear image zoom to get rid of the vignette on the outside in ff mode and not have to crop all the way into 1.6, looks like 1.2 might be enough

    Is your accent from Wisconsin?

Haha that is the first I’ve heard that! I’m from Toronto, Canada. My parents were born and raised in India, and my dad lived in England through his 20’s, so I think my accent is a mishmash of all of that 😅
