United Airlines Review - Business Class from Lisbon to New York City (and NYC Pizza)

On Day 28 of our Round The World Trip with Star Alliance we flew from Lisbon, Portugal to Newark (but going to New York City) on United Airlines business class. I wasn’t expecting that much from United Airlines, but it turned out to be a great flight, with amazing service, and surprisingly very good food. Here’s the full United Airlines flight review.
4:57 Lunch on United Airlines: Lisbon to New York City - Since we boarded the flight in the morning, the first meal we at on the flight is lunch. I chose to order salmon with couscous with some kind of sauce on it. The salmon paired with the couscous and tomatoey sauce was delicious. It was a full gourmet meal experience on business class.
9:55 Dinner on United Airlines - After taking a nap for a few hours and watching a couple movies, it was time for another meal… I think it was dinner this time? Since they had salmon on the menu again, I couldn’t resist. Again, it was good.
11:07 Newark Liberty International Airport - We arrived to Newark airport after about a 6 hour flight from Lisbon, Portugal. From the airport after passing from customs and immigration we went to the train station and bought tickets for $13 from Newark to NY Penn Station Manhattan.
13:26 Courtyard New York Manhattan / Chelsea - In New York City, my wife and I stayed at Courtyard New York Manhattan / Chelsea, located just a 5 minute walk from NY Penn Station. We checked into the hotel and our room was fantastic with a great view of NYC.
15:33 Joe's Pizza - Without a doubt, pizza is one of the most famous foods to eat in NYC, and so it was only fitting that my first meal in NYC would be pizza. After walking around for a while, Ying and I were not too far from Joe's Pizza, one of the many legendary pizza slice restaurants in New York City. The pizza was pretty good, and it had actually been a while since I had eaten pizza. Price - $2.75 for cheese slice, $3.75 for pepperoni.
It was a good but tiring day, and I our flight on United Airlines was very nice. Welcome to New York City - more food coming!

Serena Lynn I am living vicariously through Mark Wiens. So much so that I get a hard-on only when he does. Very inconvenient when I am sometimes surprised with a stiffy in an formal social setting or when getting frisked by the police. Time zone is definitely a problem ... having to choke the chicken at 2PM upsets my work flow.

A more recent video he tried to use a fork on a piece of meat and couldn’t get the meat to stay on the tines. I’m guessing he isn’t used to using a fork after using other utensils for so long.
I absolutely LOVE the feeling I get when I take the escalator from Penn Sta up to 7th Ave. You can just FEEL the city, and the smells and sounds are amazing. I grew up in NY, but have only been back a few times in the last 20 years. No place like it anywhere. Thanks for taking us there :)

Arguing about the gyro not the real lamb dishes, American pizza's not the "real" pizza, so weird. Have you seen Mark's video at Rome? He had a rectangular shape pizza, and he's not complaining that it's not the "real" Italian pizza shape. I bet even after Mark's travel to Mexico and tasted so many "real" tacos there, he won't be complaining if somehow he's back to the States (Arizona, if I remember correctly) and having tacos there too. Just enjoyed your food

I stayed at Fontecruz when I visited Lisbon and also had a room on the dark side (next to the street). Not sure if you know but they have a bright/white side as well. Yes, it's different but I really enjoyed my stay. Looking forward to NYC!

+Mark Wiens The back half of Fontecruz du Hotel is the white side and the high floors look over rooftops. I liked my view of Av. da Liberdade but yes, the all black was somewhat weird. You nailed it though, the location is ideal and the service (during my stay) was outstanding.

There are so many amazing restaurants in this city from very high end to hole in the wall places that are gems.
I have friends and family that re-visit just for the wonderful food they can't eat anywhere else.

there is no food in the world i can't eat, i don,t need fly millions of miles yearly, just for food, after all England has people in it from all 243 countries of world and hotels can have chefs from 20 different countries , working in them.

@@neutral4045 reason is the airline did not check the number of vacant seats and when a person bought a ticket with the Asian guy's seat the security dragged him and sad thing is that the Asian is a doctor who needs to go because of an emergency

Welcome to New York. Make sure to visit Brooklyn. Get a MetroCard 7 day unlimited. Please go to bare burger in Manhattan get something exotic like an ostrich or elk burger. You build your burger. If you're going to China Town most people skip the food carts. Don't miss them you can get a whole yummy meal for $4. Hope I see you. Been watching your vids for while. Great work.
