Nikki, I saw this video a few months ago and just had Eric install the lift kit into my 2014 Prius V wagon on July 1st, it is awesome. Eric said your video had a positive impact on his business these past several months. We are planing to head out on a year long cross country mixed car camp/hotel trip and I look forward to taking our Prius off the beaten path. Thank you for bringing this mod to our attention, I look forward to more of your content.
@@Sensesftw I am not certain because at about the same time I also installed a roof rack with two Thule cargo boxes plus 1 inch larger diameter all terrain tires. I will tell you the cargo boxes kill milage, by maybe 10+ MPG. I'm currently moving those cargo boxes to a small utility trailer to see if towing them yields better milage than the roof resistance. My guess is that the lift alone has very little (1 or 2 mpg) if any fuel efficiency impact.
Wow this prius is older than my 2011 prius I sold last year. I sold it because it burned oil badly. 5 quarts in 6-7 hours of constant highway driving! Local city driving it be no prob.
You are awesome. I am a Ford man (worked for Ford Motor Company 40+ years) and I use to laugh at and despise the Prius (and Cheerleaders for that matter) you have single womanly changed my mind on both counts. You are so amazing, talented and very beautiful. You are my new hero. You and your Prius rock❤️👍
Yes, I Just took my 2011 Prius Plus which is a Sport Model which also has 17inch Rims. I replaced my Coil Springs, shocks, and front Struts all around and lifted it up to about a 1-1/2 inches . The car now rides softer. Did it all myself. Really pretty nice, My Prius has now 171000 miles.
Did you replace with longer strut and springs? That is more effective than placing a puck on top because naturally, the springs will lift your car higher, unlike having a puck on top which the original springs will still compress half way, lowering the vehicle. And too big of a puck only will work while the spring is half way compressed, but the moment you go over any bump, RIP to your axle hitting the frame
A. One year later review - anyone with a Prius NEEDS to check offroad Prius out, a quality product with a ton of heart and passion behind it and in my opinion best on the market. PS. I took my prius across country and slept in it most nights. I bottomed out like a dozen or more times, to the point I thought maybe an SUV would be better for doing this again, but I like your solution much better Thanks for sharing your experience!
I have bought four auction Prius vehicles from various State Government agencies that were incredibly cheap because their Fleet Maintenance deemed the hybrid battery as BAD. The water leak from the hatch created corrosion which triggers a failure in the charge distribution. A simple 30-minute fix had everything functioning perfectly!!

Watched half this video, went to their site, bought the kit and a skid plate for my gen 4, and he was nice enough to accommodate my short notice install appt request, and i was lifted in a few days. Took like 2 hours with the skid plate. If i had gotten this when I first got my prius, I'd have saved thousands in underside damage. Eric said I have the worst one he's seen yet 😩😂 These cars don't get enough credit. Capable af! 10x better with 1.5 of lift. Great video!
11:03 honestly in these shots with your car all loaded up, the ride height seems totally normal and like it should have been this height from the factory! This seems like a worthwhile upgrade, especially since you got new struts and springs too!
I was considering purchasing a Prius but this hight thing is making me think twice. I am thinking now a Rav4 which is better for street bumps and such. Anyway, greetings from the Riviera Maya, Nikky! Oh yeah, I ❤️ Camper, your new travel buddy. I believe you and your mother rescued him and I thank you for it. Must find & watch the whole episode when you found him.
Carlos The height this is definitely not ideal for going off road, BUT if I was to choose a larger AWD upgrade I personally might to a little larger with the fuel economy difference! Depends what you need it for! Yes we rescued him, he was a stray/abandoned :-(
Lot of designers in the comments here. The reason the Prius is low is for gas mileage. Raise it lose gas mileage. Put a rocket on top lose gas mileage. I have a bike rack on back lose gas mileage. Lots of trade offs.
@@NikkiDelventhal On a side note I'm into health if you want to make your self and camper last alot longer and boost your immune system. Drink 9.5 pH alkaline oxygenated water. I've been drinking it for 12+ years and counting it's one of the best things I've done that has kept me from being sick. Now for 12+ years drinking alkaline pH oxygenated water and counting!!! Another thought, I had one installed on a truck before look into a possible air bag kit just when needed for off roading and you can go really high or just enough to clear to things at the push of a button and drop it back down to stock factory ride higth in 6 seconds if they make a air ride kit for your Prius. Cheaper way for rear of your car install air shocks fairly quick easy and pretty cheap. If you want to go alot higher in future also to prevent rear end of vehicle from sagging with to much weight! Good luck I'm off grid too! Debit and stress free more time and money, take care!

I did the same with my 2013 PIP a couple years ago. Well worth it for me, living in a rural area with lots of snow, and extra clearance is appreciated! No difference in MPG, and the lift helps driving around in town also.

I been driving a lifted silverado since 2012 and finally switched to a prius for my commute never in a million years did I thought I would see a lifted prius 😅
Used to live in rhode island which to this day I believe has the worst roads in America. I bottomed out my 01 camry and the no lie the catalytic converter fell off. I welded it back on, but atlas the car finally died. I will never go back to a sedan ever again currently got a rav4 and that comfort of driving over anything feels really good. Really glad to see they can lift your car.
The leak is a common issue. But I honestly fix mine with electrical tape. There’s stress cracks located on the top left and right of the trunk. Open your trunk, facing your trunk looking at the top left and right area normally hidden by the trunk. There’s usually cracks there. The cracks are super super small enough to let water go through. A fix is using silicone it I sealed it using electrical tape to seal the rain. I’m in Cali so it doesn’t rain as much so use silicone to seal it.
I increased my Gen2 tire size from 185/65-15 to 195/65-15 for some extra clearance. The larger size has been standard on the Prius since the 2010 model year. I have not experienced any clearance or rubbing issues with the larger tire and it doesn't affect the suspension's geometry (even more height without adding to the spacer's 1-1/2" modification). Your local tire shop is also likely to have more tire options in stock in the larger size should you need to replace a damaged tire on the road or if you're simply shopping for a new set.
@@TakuyaHikichi My car is strictly for city use with steep hills, potholes, speed bumps, and dips. It can be annoying with the low front bumper and overall ride height. If you're looking for substantial clearance, others have commented on their use of even taller tires with the spacer modification. A 195 upgrade simply gives you a bit more clearance and better purchase options than the 185 with negligible affect on speedometer accuracy, hybrid torque values, or wheel well clearance.

@@NikkiDelventhal There is a cheat way of making your Prius all wheel drive you would need 1 - 2 p100d Tesla battery modules to compensate for the cheat mod...
They always make cars as low and as slick as possible to help with fuel economy. For the end user maybe not a perceptible difference but on manufacturer granular testing it probably does a bit.
Very interesting idea! Never heard of that, although there are now AWD Priuses. Should take you many more places than before. Typically lifts are accompanied by skid plates underneath to shield vital components from rocks, and larger All Terrain tires. If you decide to go this route you might consider Yokohama Geolandar GO15's. They are quite effective off-road but less attention-getting than most A/T tires, quieter than most on-road, and are also severe snow rated. They would actually help you go more places :)
You might want to get a catalytic converter shield while you're at it. A lot of thieves targeting Prius' and since your car is already lifted, you're just giving them a helping hand.
I wrote her two weeks ago about that. My brother’s Friend had his stolen and he immediately called me cause that part expensive. I did not know this was thing with Prius and that it could cost up to $2000 to replace. I order cat shield of eBay For $80. Better safe then sorry.
So helpful to have even just a bit more clearance. Opens up a lot more options for dispersed camping. Trucks/vans can get such horrible mileage it makes more sense to just lift the car a little and not sacrifice the savings in fuel.
Great idea. Awsome job. I love it when people customize their car for their life....just put a light tint job on the back window...and rain guards. And keep rollin

Every time you touch the shocks you have to do an alignment and chamber adjustment. Thats why its best to get everything you need done to the front suspension all at once. The rear shocks dont need any alignment as the car is front wheel drive and steering.
I use mine as a delivery vehicle and yeah it hits everything on the bottom so I will definitely have a closer look at this video and the parts you used tomorrow. Looks good!
thanks for the vid, just bought a 2022 Prius Prime and was considering this due to the janky railroad crossing I have to pass through everyday to get to work.
fixing leak in rear of car: been there, done that.....grab a rag, some isopropyl alc., and some clear GE silicone sealer. Pull up rubber straps that run on both sides of roof (near hatch) clean with alc. You can likely see hairline cracks in this area...both sides... where hatch meets roof. (culprit!) Clean and seal.....done! (mine rusted out on both sides- a hole to the outside as big as a football :( )
Haha literally, just filmed a video doing exactly what you describe! Amazing!! Thanks so much, at first I had no idea how common this actually was!:-))))
I don't really have an opinion about lifting a Prius, but I admit I did have to laugh watching this episode.. I was laughing inside because I thought to myself, if I posted a video saying I lifted a Prius everybody would say "what a moron"... But you on the other hand, say you lifted a Prius and everybody says, "oh how cool"... Must be the smile...... Good luck with the Prius.
I think you made a right call by lifting up your Prius. I drive 75 Edition Jeep Wrangler which has great ground clearance for off-roading but I have not lifted my wrangler as many folks tend to do. Good luck with your modified Prius.
So glad you have Camper with you now. It’s nice to have someone to talk to on the road and also one heck of a security alarm at night. Now you get to pull up at red lights beside other unsuspecting Prius owners and say, “Nice Prius, do you even lift?” 😂

Very interesting! I just bought a Prius (my google searches are probably the reason this got recommended to me lol) and it’s always been kind of a far off dream for me to live in a van and travel around. I never thought it would be possible to do that in a Prius. I have so many questions. You just got a new subscriber
It didn't come this way from the factory because the Prius is, above-all-else, designed for *maximum* fuel economy. Keeping it lower to the ground decreases turbulence below the car, increasing fuel economy. A loss of one mpg - at 45mpg - means more to the manufacturer than to most owners, on a yearly cost basis. I'd go for the lift.
I like it! I’m considering this with my rav4 which body wise isn’t too terribly different from a Prius. It’s 2 Wheel Dr. and the ground clearance in deep snow dragging the belly is all that holds me back with snow tires not the traction or the power. The four-wheel-drive version gives you more traction to overcome the belly drag but if you don’t have the belly drag in the first place the front wheel drive does just fine. Yeah it’s snows a lot where I live.
I have always been curious about the possibilities of lifting a Prius, so this was very informative. As someone who offroads often, I would definitely recommend getting some good all terrain tires and go up a size on the sidewall if you can. A/T tires will help protect from getting a flat compared to regular street tires. Tires become part of the suspension when aired down to 15-20 psi and can make the drive offroad MUCH more comfy/safe. Looking forward to more of your adventures!
@@NikkiDelventhal There was a good post I was reading through recently that talked about removing specific fuses to reduce the acceleration cutoff when wheel spin is detected. That article could help you a lot while offroading. Also, have you seen the new gen Prius? They offer an AWD!
I have by Tacoma TRD Off road lifted 3” and of course 18” rims. I have a canopy to sleep in and four doors to store all my camera gear in the back seats with easy access. Just waiting for lockdown to end so I can visit some of the tribal lands and off I go.
The leak question? Use the water intake for a small low light plant! Just need to drill a small hole in the bottom to drain excess water... of course ;)
Okay this is freaking awesome! I’m seriously thinking about purchasing that lift kit for my 2012 Prius!! From what I see here it seems like it’s so worth it!
I don’t mean to be a pain but, I see this video was 10 months ago.. can you comment on how the lift kit is holding up almost a year later??? ☺️ Have you had any problems of the sort or anything at all related to the lift kit?
I would get some all terrain tires for the reason of puncture resistance. So a sharp rock or stick doesnt give you a flat tire , im a jeeper and strongly recommend this ..
This lady is awesome. Sounds like a silly idea initially but it makes sense for what she’s using it for and it turned out nicely. Great channel and content, hope you make it to San Francisco some time!

"Camper is not the only other furry critter living in this Prius" 😂 No definitely not, and by the looks of the mice it makes for at least 3 furry critters!
@@NikkiDelventhal- Mice and rats love to eat Toyota wires in particular. Toyota uses soybean oil in the insulation that surrounds the wires. A good way to deter them. Buy some real mint oil “ not extract “ Put a few drops on cotton balls then place them inside small ziplock bags. Poke five or so very small holes in the bags and tuck them in and around the engine compartment or the area that they are living or eating wires. If using this method. once a month it doesn’t hurt to put a few more fresh drops of mint oil on the cotton balls. Mothballs can work also but they smell really bad and have carcinogen in them.

The name for a Prius skid plate is Catalytic Converter Cover.
I've joked to a friend I should make videos about me and my Civic in a world of 4x4s and then I found this! Amazing. Subbed.
Interesting. The newer Awd-e prius does have an extra .2" over standard prius.
I never knew Prius owners lifted their Prius, that is a wow. I would think it would help out a lot.
So helpful to have even just a bit more clearance. Opens up a lot more options for dispersed camping. Trucks/vans can get such horrible mileage it makes more sense to just lift the car a little and not sacrifice the savings in fuel.
I need this done to my Prius, but I want the new 2" lift kit and springs. Eric is adorable. Those dimples!
That was a great idea to do since that gave your more ground clearance.
Great idea. Awsome job. I love it when people customize their car for their life....just put a light tint job on the back window...and rain guards. And keep rollin
YES! Thank you!
I just subscribed your channel I'm from INDIA 🇮🇳, I was watching your 1 month old video and now the this one I noticed little changes on your face you are looking more compassionate now days,,,,,, by looking your face I feel more peace then before , go ahead God bless you , all the best for your future LOVE FROM INDIA
I don't care about the audio you and Camper are the important ones to see if
Every time you touch the shocks you have to do an alignment and chamber adjustment.
Looks good!
Awesome! It was soooo worth it!
Damn I didn't know you could do that to a prius cool keep on keeping on Nikki safe travels 👍👍👍👍👍
Toyota should sponsor you on this journey . I have great much respect for what you do, Nikki ! Good Luck and be safe !
That would be cool! Im totally down for a new Prius or even a Sienna! hahaha
Great video! I have a similar lift in my Prius but unfortunately got it before Prius Offroad started making their (better quality) kit
Nice! His kits are awesome, for sure!!!
Prius off road, who would have guessed, WOW that is cool more to this car than meets the eyes.
1:06 the look on his face was priceless for everything else there's MasterCard 🤣
Hey, Nikki! New sub from the Unstoppable Army, here. Love the idea of lifting the Prius!
thanks for the vid, just bought a 2022 Prius Prime and was considering this due to the janky railroad crossing I have to pass through everyday to get to work.
She’s definitely stunningly beautiful! Awesome always wanted to do this!
Go for it! & Thank you =)
I am so inspired. Lol I seen an off-road Prius at my workplace and found this video. I never would’ve thought they had this and it’s awesome 😂
I’m sure that really made a big difference lifting your car 🚘 now you can go drive off road .
Nicely done !
Thanks!
@@NikkiDelventhal 👍🏼
i love that pup... wish you and him all the best... i want to get a hybrid for sure in near future...
Yea my stock prius has been all through Mojave and Joshua tree. Momentum is key when off roading.
real good for your kind of driving everywhere smiles keep it up Roger..
Just seen your vids for first time being in lockdown i cant even go to the end of the street.greets from Liverpool ,
Niki you kill me! A lift kit really !!
I love the bond you have with Camper. I absolutely love your dog lol
Subaru might a have been better choice. But your doing well... congrats on opening yourself up to more places.
fixing leak in rear of car: been there, done that.....grab a rag, some isopropyl alc., and some clear GE silicone sealer.
Amazing!! Thanks so much, at first I had no idea how common this actually was!:-))))
never knew you could buy a lift kit for a prius,,great video
Right on! Thanks so much!
I swear I only see this kind of genuine car love in Pri-i and subar-i
So glad you have Camper with you now. It’s nice to have someone to talk to on the road and also one heck of a security alarm at night.
Now you get to pull up at red lights beside other unsuspecting Prius owners and say, “Nice Prius, do you even lift?” 😂
Hahahahah do you even lift bro?
Hello from Stamford, CT until the New Year. If you're headed to the Southwest this Winter and see a built out, white RAV4 Hybrid, say hello. Enjoy the extra GC!
I’m grew up around you! For sure- RAV4 was on my possible next car list, so cool!!!!
Finally a useful Prius video. Thanks.
🥰🙏🏻
This guy is so professional I like him! It looks so amazing
What a game changer! Uhhhh, you're in a Prius, that qualifies you as a minimalist.
If you’re a hypermiler, sure! ;)
Almost new clean nice dependable fuel efficient car, cute dog, off grid, you tube channel, sweet, sincere and beautiful lady! What more could a guy want in life? This lady has it going on I really hope and pray she becomes the largest and richest you tube star. She is truly what America should be and preparing for!!! Freedom is every thing!!!
You are living free and great
Now if only someone would make strut spacers I could use on my Hyundai Accent. This is awesome
Very interesting! I just bought a Prius (my google searches are probably the reason this got recommended to me lol) and it’s always been kind of a far off dream for me to live in a van and travel around. I never thought it would be possible to do that in a Prius. I have so many questions. You just got a new subscriber
SAME dream! So I just said, well... I have a Prius! LETS GO!!! Haha! Thanks so much!:-)))))
Thank you for making this video, I hate parking my car near the side walk, but I got it used and loving it.
Prius off road? Who knew? You know they make hybrid trucks now, More Room ,better performance, Making you a happy..... Camper!🐶
Team NIKKI & Camper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The trade-off is that you're raising the center of gravity, which makes the car more likely to flip in an accident.
Thanks for the rec & info! Now if only the Prius was AWD!
@@NikkiDelventhal There was a good post I was reading through recently that talked about removing specific fuses to reduce the acceleration cutoff when wheel spin is detected. That article could help you a lot while offroading.
Also, have you seen the new gen Prius? They offer an AWD!
Dan Jones NO WAY!!! AWD!!!! I’m in!
WOW, how sweet is that! I am thinking of doing the same thing to my 2018 Camry as well! I love it, thanks Nikki you are so awesome
I have by Tacoma TRD Off road lifted 3” and of course 18” rims. I have a canopy to sleep in and four doors to store all my camera gear in the back seats with easy access. Just waiting for lockdown to end so I can visit some of the tribal lands and off I go.
Happy Camper and a Happy Nikki😘
Luv your new ride 🏁
Very cool! Nice work! Toyota vehicles are the best...
It’s a game changer! Stopped bottoming out on speed bumps, can go down dirt roads with less worry. Highly recommended!
Nice! Now I want a Prius.
Incredible!!!
Totally doing this...
YAYYY!!!!
This lady is awesome. Sounds like a silly idea initially but it makes sense for what she’s using it for and it turned out nicely. Great channel and content, hope you make it to San Francisco some time!
Hit a little block of snow in my Prius , 2,000 dollar fix. I need this
Great video Nikki and Camper 👌 🥰 I love your positive energy no matter what the situation ✨️
Nice! Never heard of priusoffroad, thanks. You might get Prius Touring wheels, 16" x 6" OEM Toyota. Looks much better than the 15" roller skate wheels...
"Camper is not the only other furry critter living in this Prius" 😂 No definitely not, and by the looks of the mice it makes for at least 3 furry critters!
Hahah! Luckily they all moved out at some point and there was no damage.
The red squirrels like to repurpose toyota firewall insulation also. And what they leave behind goes to the cabin filter
I came from future . Camper and you will be so famous even in dubai 🔮
I wasn't planning on lifting my Prius. Then on my second camping trip, in Ensenada, I bottomed out on a speed bump the size of a baby blue whale. Keep your #GoalsInConcrete but your #PlansInSand
Haha when I bottomed out in the whole foods parking lot I knew it was time 😂😂
@@NikkiDelventhal Ha! 🎶It's getting real in the Whole Foods Parking Lot 🎶
Those south of the border speed bumps are from another world!
Prius Offroad TEXAS speed bumps... the moment I was sold on the lift. Hahaha
@@NikkiDelventhal Apparently everything really is bigger in Texas! Haha!
